i'm kind of glad that it's a reboot. i s1 finished so nicely that anything that any continuation from that story would just spoil it. this one is pretty good so far, i wonder if it's alternative universe twist.
It's a second version of the same premises using the same formula following the same pattern with the same actors delivering the same feel good entertainment, just a bit more spiced.

it can be like that, but not always. Writers can easily create a story where the king has only one love.
Even in history, the Hongzhi Emperor had just Empress Zhang and no concubines. So a drama where the ML loves only the FL isn’t unrealistic, it’s just storytelling.
I just hope they get a happy ending. Life’s already overwhelming I either want a happy ending or an unforgettable, meaningful sad one not a boring one lol
