So you think it's fair for ANYONE to spend time and money on art just for it to be plagiarized by AI and you just have to 'suck it up' ?? this is such a dumb take.

It's just that three or four dramas a year per actor aren't enough for the Chinese (compared to one or two in other countries). They want to squeeze out even more... 😒

I imagine the executives of these companies/agencies are giddy at the thought of no-hassle dramas all produced, written, directed and acted by AI. Oh boy! Only one name on nearly all credits.

No pushback from actors, no salaries to pay them, no contract negotiations; well, no more actors needed, period. Only thing is, I suspect there will soon be no more audiences, either. The newness will wear off very quickly, and people will want their flesh and blood faves back.

I know I won't be in the audience. Time to go fishing if that happens.

even the entertainment world is under threat now. I am not commenting on this exact matter. But I just hate the thought of watching AI actors. I really want to keep watching genuine works by genuine people from the screenplay/writing to the scenario building cinematography and obviously very importantly the cast. Even if I don't enjoy a work much I never hate it nor do I hate actors for their acting (if I happen to not enjoy it as much) HOWEVER I would absolutely HATE AI

I disagree. To quote a famous line from a well-known movie, Jurassic Park:

“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.”

Sometimes the old ways are the best in some things. Just because something is more modern doesn’t mean it is better.

AI is horrible, imo. It makes people lazy. Why bother studying when you can just have AI do everything for you? AI will eat the entertainment industry right out of their jobs.

Have you thought about what AI makes is all stolen from real artists. These actors are making hundreds of thousands for every drama they do. Though AI is very helpful in production, generative AI which this guy is raving about is all stolen from real people. Artists are not creating a work, they are prompting AI to do it for them.

Exactly my point. They are JUST existing now a days. Students can't do a single piece of work without AI, we are becoming increasingly dependent on AI. It will not be far when people ask AI how to boil and egg. We don't want that. Art had been the only place where we humans still had autonomy and that is also taken by soulless things. Job market is already over saturated and now, people are losing their jobs due to AI. You say 'That fact that another creature can, doesn't stop me from what I want to do.'. What will you do when AI takes over the job that gives you your livelihood? Can you still do what you want to do? You are not really understanding the situation. Also have you seen the studies on how over dependency on tech is deteriorating the function of the brain. The current generation is facing that problem.

Have you ever considered the fact that this same tech is ruining our planet? Soon there won't even be us for us to do whatever we please.

Also, AI isn't making up stuff on its own. It doesn't have that capacity that the human brain does. AI is essentially regenerating stuff sub standardly from what already exists, i.e., stealing some other peoples hard works, without giving them the credit for it.

AI completely defeats the purpose of human existence. What makes us different from other species is our ability to think, imagine, and create. If a life less robot is taking it away from is, what is indeed the meaning of our existence?

It’s a silly take … people with real bills real responsibilities are loosing jobs lively hood,. No one is saying AI can’t .. it always lower quality production … but they it should not … watch the day you can’t find acting job because AI 2 is free and took your job … there is no project per your logic it can’t do … even if AI can a lot is lost in the process when we as humans outsource everything… like everything we will look back and hope we prevented this.

Also if you can. Use AI actors viewers can too.. And our dramas would probably have better endings

What a shallow statement to give being an Actor and on top of a public figure.
AI is nothing but a thief and there is nothing about clinging to old ways when AI can't generate anything its own all AI knows is how to steal from other artist.

Watch him cry later that AI took his job. VA actors are already crying, next it's face actors. And if only their liknesses were used lawfully in making of dramas, but watch this space for illicit pron hubs jumping on it as well, it's already happening. Dumbasses like this guy are gonna be drowning in lawsuits, trying to catch who used their likeness without consent.
And nobody is irreplaceable. Probably what's gonna be left for actors are fresh face models for AI to scan and regurgitate. All the acting will be generated by AI.

Personally, I'm waiting for technologies to evolve so far where everybody can write any sort of movie they want, sort of like a role playing video game, but with unrestricted choices and realistic graphics. Talented people will still be able to create masterpieces, while the rest will be like content creators on youtube, making their own stuff. Legacy media where we are shown what others want us to see will be gone sooner or later with this AI trend, seems inevitable.

The question isn’t really whether AI will take over the entertainment industry. The real question is why movies, dramas, songs, and anime are made in the first place—for US, the audience. Do we actually want to spend our time and money on something that feels so artificial and emotionally empty?

No matter how advanced AI gets, it just can’t recreate that raw, human feeling. When I watch a drama, I feel what the actors feel. I cry with them, laugh with them, get frustrated with them. That connection comes from real people putting real emotion into their work. You can’t program that. You can imitate it, sure—but it’ll never feel the same. Writers and directors build stories that connect with our emotions on a deeper level. That kind of authenticity just can’t be replicated by AI.

Last month, I read an article claiming that an AI-generated vertical drama reached 1 billion views in China. Curious, I tried watching a couple of AI vertical dramas myself and they were awful. Forget the plot or acting; even the dialogue didn’t match the lip movements. Maybe that’s due to low budgets, but even with high-budget productions, I doubt the emotional depth would be the same. If iQIYI were to produce an AI drama, the visuals might be top-notch, but the emotional authenticity and human talent would still be missing.

I was worried that audiences might start accepting AI-generated dramas, but it’s somewhat reassuring to see that many people are against the idea of using actors’ faces to create AI versions. If viewers stop supporting such content, production might slow down. However, I doubt it will stop entirely, curiosity and the appeal of seeing their favorite’s actors faces may still draw people in.

As someone who watches vertical dramas, I know they often have plot issues, but they also feature many talented actors. It’s disheartening to see that just as some of them were starting to gain recognition and opportunities with larger production houses, AI bullshit is now threatening their livelihoods. These days, it feels like one or two AI-generated vertical dramas are released every day.

For me personally, if the industry fully shifts toward AI, I’m out. I don’t want to watch something that doesn’t feel real. At that point, it’s just content not storytelling.
