The girl CAN ACT. Like wow I dont often say this about C Drama actors or actress. But this one has such expressive eyes and knows how to make use of it. True talent for the industry.

On episode 1 and the historically accurate filth and tooth decay is... something. 😭

It’s so nice seeing a historical that’s not in the palace. I also love how everything looks more lived in, like it’s not so clean. I wanted dirt and I see dirt lol (I mean if you’re a peasant living in the elements all day, you’re going to look it). Call me weird but I love it. I’m tired of everything looking so pristine on screen yk

I haven't seen an episode as bleak and tragic as the opening of the Korean series "The Murky Stream" in a while.
Although the writer and director of the episode intended to lighten the premise with a comedic element through the participation of a renowned actor (Park Ji-hwan), he was unable to contain the somewhat excessive gloom surrounding the story, which uses poverty as a weapon to humiliate the human self. Slavery is met with a handful of rice; if rice is absent, life is absent.
Squashed faces, bent backs, emaciated physiques, tattered clothing, and the heavy weight of the goods that must be carried to provide for the day.
The tragedy continues because slavery isn't even a choice. "Giving my body to be destroyed for a handful of rice" is a "luxury" that is denied you when you aren't chosen for this honor. If you aren't chosen, death chooses you. It's just an episode that I don't think will be repeated in the following chapters of the story, considering that it is a romantic historical work in its beginnings, but the episode I will remember in the future because it somehow surrounded in a gloomy but ideal way the dilemma that caused poverty in ancient times and continues to this day, only times change, clothes and features change and you may no longer need your arms to carry heavy goods, but you will suffer, or someone or several people somewhere who form an entire ocean that capitalist systems raided...the spoils are theirs and the handful of rice is yours, that is if you are lucky.

Am I the only one who thinks he will have a redemption arc?
“But he’s 4th on the cast list 🤷🏼‍♀️” realest feeling you experience as a drama watcher lol

Wow this is Rowoon like I have never seen him - I am impressed - his face tells his suffering. I don't think this series will be as memorable as his acting - and his height combined with PSH (smile). I agree with the rest of the posts - too much story to tell and not enough epi to cover for it to make an impact.

The first 3 episodes were so crazyy that I keep rewinding and watching them, especially the part where Fu Yi Xiao ties Feng Suige up. Feng Suige's gaze is crazy. OMG, Chen Zheyuan's own voice is so sexy😫. It's a good thing they didn't use a voice actor. So far, it's going well, I hope it continues like this😋

I'm watching him in Lost you Forever, this guy is so cute. I don't remember him from The Double. Will rewatch those episodes to look for him. He has a unique look, looks more korean than chinese IMO. He needs to get main roles, at least 2nd ML.... he has good looks, and comedic roles in Wuxia drama suit him.

There are many rumors about the death that we cannot verify. But there are some facts out there that can be:

- "About 150 residents in the complex have sold their apartments below market value." The complex is referred to as Sunshine Upper East residential complex or 阳光上东. Look for a real estate website to see the current listings and sales. Price is computed by square meter. Sales below market value checks out but I'm no expert and not from China either (please do your own research), but maybe someone out there would be able to provide better insight than I can. The reason for the sales is completely debatable.

- The official statement is that he accidentally fell from a building. After seeing the window YML fell from, I have reason to believe it's impossible in the first place. First of all, the height of the bottom half of the window is quite high. Even if you tip over somehow, it would take a lot of upper body force to just fall over. Second, the frame of the window is very close to each other. If you tip over, it would be easy to prevent the fall totally by grabbing on either side. Third, there was a mosquito screen installed. It would have to have been removed prior for anything to fall through.

- The police claims that this death was an accident, but everything about him is being deleted online. Whether this is true or not is verifiable. So far, we have confirmation that Weibo had removed more than 100,000 pieces of prohibited content, suspended or closed over 1,000 accounts, and disabled the comment function for more than 15,000 accounts. I read somewhere that even videos celebrating his past works have been deleted (I personally cannot confirm or deny as I'm not on any Chinese social media platforms but I imagine someone who is can).

As for the video/audio media being circulated, I'm personally unable to identify anyone. There are no clear shots of YML's face or any of the possible perpetrators. The people that were identified were done so through similar clothing or accessories only. Most of the news coming out now are coming from a single online source with no way to verify all their story. I just want to say, to all my fellow fans, to remain vigilant and not believe information you cannot verify. There is definitely a reason to believe foul play but not everything coming out may be the truth (people looking for clout can easily make shit up to gain momentary fame and traffic).
