I liked it for the most part, but the ending was really sort of a messy unsuccessful mash-up in an effort to bank on any last bit of affection for the characters and relationships that we got to know throughout the drama. The things that were forced and the things that were implied left me rather disappointed and underwhelmed. The rest of the drama was great however.

My goodness. This drama has been on my radar since I watched my very first drama (...7 years ago o_o) and in retrospect it's complete nonsense to me that I took this long to watch the damn thing!

I am not a crier. I actively seek out sad movies and dramas, but I can still count the amount of shows that have made me cry on one hand. But this drama? Mannnn. 4 times! I cried 4 times! The fourth time should probably count for more, considering it lasted the entirety of the last episode.
This is exactly what I look for in a drama. I wish there had been just a teensy bit (just a teensy bit) more of a focus on the romance element, but I can find that elsewhere and I can understand why they wouldn't want to overdo it considering it's based off of the life of a real girl.

If this has been sitting on your list for a long time, just go ahead and watch it! It's 11 episodes, fairly quick- perfect for a marathon. I'm really glad I watched this.

Huang Xuan was in the Wallace Huo drama Imperial Doctress, and I didn't think he was too bad looking. Maybe watch that before this comes out so you get a feel for his acting... and face... lol

Wow wow wow. Endings like that are what I live for. Not a perfect drama, and I feel like some people could criticize it for lack of fluff and romance, but I really liked it.

When did Yeo Jin Goo's voice get that low? His age still freaks me out, but damn is that a nice voice. Either way, I'm REALLY enjoying this drama so far. I feel like it's going to get really interesting, and seeing JGS in another historical drama is such a breath of fresh air. I missed him.

I know! I think it's mainly because they actually have real PROBLEMS to deal with, instead of having to stretch out lover's quarrels and family politics for 16 episodes. Stuff happens and the romantic moments can be romantic, instead of snooze-fests. It's SO refreshing.

Loving this drama. Haven't been this excited/satisfied with a drama in a while.

Wow, I never commented on this? The first time I watched it (at least 4 years ago) I literally used an entire box of tissues. This isn't an exaggeration.
Even after the movie was over and I was lying in bed trying to sleep, I would just burst into tears at the thought of the movie. It hit me in a really deep place for SOME reason.
This is still one of my favourite movies. I love it.
(I know that for some people, crying isn't that big of a deal but like... things don't make me cry? I actively seek out sad things and I still can count the amount of shows/movies to make me cry on one hand)

SUPER impressed with the first episode. Choi Min Soo is ridiculously charismatic. This is gonna be a good one if it doesn't get caught up with convoluted and silly plot points like sageuks tend to.

It really does! And that one was SO good! The complexity of the emotions that they both conveyed like... he just shot her father and she still took the arrow for him, so he feels guilt but he also feels thankful, and he feels all lovely-dovey, and then he starts to feel fear because she's hurt and she could die... it just all came together so spectacularly.
And she's just like "I'm sorry this is all I could do~ run~ I love you~ mwah~"

And that kind of thing happens a lot. Park Shi Hoo just put everything in his eyes, even while his character was being all broody.

Forgettable. I started watching this movie and it took me until adding it to my list to realize that I'd seen it before. "Hey, I guess some of those scenes WERE kinda familiar...."

Come for Joo Won, stay for... yeah, Joo Won.

That was good. Love Park Shi Hoo, and this has made me like Moon Chae Won a bit more than I did. Sweeping historicals like his always leave me with good feels. Also I finished this drama in about 3 days. SO THERE'S THAT.

88 and 94 still piss me off to this day. The endings pissed me off so badly that I haven't even watched the episodes- I've just read episode reviews. 1994 is the worst though. It'd be one thing if the second leads were given a proper send-off, but as they're just sort of pushed to the side and forgotten about. For dramas that are otherwise brilliant, the way they handled those characters was just sad.
Dream High was something different though. It may have had something to do with people's exposure to KSH at the time though- Taecyeon was without a doubt more well known, and he seemed so obvious. But throughout the drama I feel like the audience had a chance to fall in love with Sam Dong and Kim Soo Hyun together with Hye Mi's character. It was something really new for dramas, where most of the time you already have some love for the male lead already.

As much as I love Kim Woo Bin, I don't have very high hopes for his new drama. The plot sounds weak.
On the other hand, I was just reminded that Moon Lovers is happening this year and I died of excitement a little bit. I honestly cannot wait for that, it's going to be wonderful.
Also, nothing on Jang Geun Suk's new drama? D:
