That sinking feeling the MOMENT the world turned to colour. The entire time I was just like, well he can't die because he can't be affected by the world. And then the branch. SIGHHHHHHH
this is pure misery porn so far, and it's not fun.
Finished it. It was... fine? Like, if you've watched shows from this genre before, you won't be surprised. It's The Platform + Squid Game- just as hamfisted and a little less emotionally impactful.
I don't know if this drama is supposed to have subs for the Korean, but the Netflix version doesn't- so knowing…
I KNEW he knew, as soon as he started 'thinking' in Japanese instead of Korean. Her transparently answering his questions... c'mon, how could he not know.
edit: nvm he didn't actually know because of that. lmao.
I don't know if this drama is supposed to have subs for the Korean, but the Netflix version doesn't- so knowing Korean was kind of like a fun easter egg. Lol.
The end of episode four was so dang stressful. I'm almost getting Miss Ripley vibes of a scammer FL playing her…
I'm STILL looking forward to the "ML coming from the future to tell past FL that he'll forgive her after he finds out about her scheming". It's too juicy of a situation to not happen. Or maybe a 'ML coming from the future to sincerely ask FL if she has anything to tell him, because he knows now but wants to hear it from her own words'? The possibilities are endless.
The end of episode four was so dang stressful. I'm almost getting Miss Ripley vibes of a scammer FL playing her cards WAY too early- but then, this drama's habit of not showing us what's happening always leaves the possibility open of her telling the truth, but it seems like a small chance. What I'm now anxious about is ML being able to go back in time and hearing things FL definitely would not want him to hear. lol.
Y'ALL every episode I just sit afterwards thinking about how much I like this drama so far ;-;
I had been sorta thinking maybe he didn't actually give her the flowers , and that was her beginning to gaslight/deceive them, but NO. The fact that we know it's a closed loop does mean he probably can't change the past though, right? But I'm a little curious about the end of the episode- what was the happy moment he was reliving? He seemed just as surprised as she was.
I'm really looking forward to the potential of him appearing after he's found out about her schemes AND forgiven her, going back in time to let her know he will forgive her. I want it to happen dangnabbit.
Why is she not even using her time freeze powers T T
Yeah, if I had a single complaint with this drama it'd be that they gave her a super OP ability for comedic effect, essentially, and haven't let her use it to solve pivotal plot elements. It makes sense bc otherwise a lot of tension would be trivialized, but then I sorta wish they'd put more constraint on the power in the first place.
tbh the fl pissed me. but I believe there will be character development. and perhaps that will be soon. the daughter…
I'm confused. If you're talking about how leads and villains are treated in-universe, that's actually just how writing a story works. Surprise! The protagonist is the protagonist and the antagonist is the antagonist, and a story will pretty much always justify or otherwise explain a lead's actions so that the viewer has some sympathy or affection for them.
If you're talking about how they're treated by fans, that alternate thesis being that people don't simp for antagonists but will defend protagonists for the same actions, BOY do I have news for you
Okay? She is still disgusting and nothing will change that
Sorry, I feel like i'm taking crazy pills. Do you think that the point of this drama will eventually be 'look at this uniformly bad person with bad intentions doing bad things to this nice family! look at how terrible she is! She'll never get any better and will never face any consequences for her actions!"
Or do you think perhaps instead this drama will be something more along the lines of 'here is an emotionally complex character with a traumatic past who will be approaching a family with nefarious intentions due to it being the Thing That Her Entire Family Does and presumably the thing she was raised to do. Eventually she will go against the way that she was taught the world works, realize that her intentions were wrong, and she will both express acknowledgement of her wrongdoings and seek atonement. Because this is a Korean drama, she will be given it."
Like, you think her actions are disgusting. Okay. Calling the entire character disgusting seems like a hyper-judgmental stretch. Besides that, are you unable to conceive of the fact that a character who might at first appear objectionable may eventually grow, change, and learn with the right circumstances? Is media literacy completely dead? sure seems like it
