Yes, I think the reason the Queen Dowager looked distressed because Lee In had a search party to look to Mong…
I think a lot of people are assuming he's gay, maybe because of the shaman necessity, but someone even caught their tongue and was expecting to be punished for his comment about going against the "natural order" of things. I think that scene definitely had a double meaning.
I still think GP has to know FL is a woman (and that he figured it out early on when he called out her inability to tie a man's hat and pointed out her feminine hands) and has just been going along with it this whole time. He is way too smart, observant and cunning all the time to not have picked up on it, and the way he looks at her like he knows and is constantly analyzing.
I'm rewatching before saturday and I can honestly get more of where the GP is coming from when it comes to his decisions in episode 4, especially the explanation from who he called the "conspirators" who met with him to ensure he gets the throne, and why it was so important he gets it, because they knew he was the right one for it and because the stakes are so high. I think he still has good intentions overall but he definitely appears to have a bit of a dark streak and is extremely cutthroat. GP is such a complex character and rewatching I can see how Jo Jung Suk is doing so well with it
I'm so over these dramas where the woman dresses like a man but she obviously looks, acts and talks like a woman.…
Why do negative comments always come in bunches on MDL, like you all are just parroting what the most recent commenter thinks?
You don't have to like the drama but I'm really not sure why you're picking everything apart, the FL doesn't look like a man we get it, most people on here are still appreciating the high quality of everything else. The rest of your complaints well ok if you don't like any part of the story whatsoever and think everything is ridiculous then I guess this drama not for you.
He is not a villain. So far he has been doing what he has to do survive. 3years later i didn't see any citizen…
As of episode 4 he definitely took a 180 into villain territory, there's no denying that. Casting his friendship with FL aside and sentencing her to labor and lashings, his actions indirectly causing the death of her dear friend, and murdering the 2ml's father, all without a second thought. I have no doubt there is more to him than meets the eye (at least I hope there is), but his actions are pretty unforgivable.
We haven't seen much of his reign in the 3 years that passed at the end of episode 4, just because villagers are not complaining about hardship doesn't mean he's not a villain in episode 4 as far as the writing is concerned.
So many interesting and unexpected writing choices in this drama already and we're only on episode 4. I have no idea where this is going but it doesn't look good. How could she ever forgive him and want to be with him after such actions? I feel like this is heading much more toward the revenge trope side of things instead of romance-centered and I think they will be foregoing a lot of that. So many opportunities for the writer to plot-twist us too...ie GP could have secretly known all along she was a woman, he could have a secret motive for what he's done so far, hell who knows, they could have this be his evil twin lmao... but sadly I sense myself feeling let down and GP will turn out to just be a very easily corrupted villain in all of this.
I'm not quite understanding the choice to have FL approach him again as male and the same mong woo he's familiar with. If she's trying to approach him as a "spy" (according to the synopsis) and to exact her revenge, wouldn't it make sense to do it as female, an identity that she thinks he is unfamiliar with? Eh. It's still a well done drama that has me hooked so I definitely want to see where it goes.
