Sorry, I miswatched, turns out ZL is still a regional commander back in Ganlin after the capital arc here. It’s just briefly mentioned and you don’t see him doing any army work so I got confused. Definitely should’ve had more family time towards the ending indeed. We only saw A’Sen being wedded for like a minute.

Maybe I missed something? He got promoted but then resigned in private. Is his position still retainable? He’s now living the life he wants, with the emperor as his backer and no one can touch him since they eliminated the Yu fam. He just doesn’t have a title like a commander?
