For book readers, how does this compare to it? I was anticipating this one but heard some didn’t like it? How is the political plot written differ from the book? I sneak peeked the ending and it seemed different too.
omg has anyone else realised it’s 3 of the cast members from fangs of fortune are also in this drama!?!!
But isn’t it also weird to see an ape demon paired up with his friend, the previous baizi goddess of his actual love interest and his newfound friend became his sister in law? 😂 It’s been a year or otherwise it would’ve been a lot harder to dissociate these characters apart. I actually almost forgot about it until now.
I’m not sure whether I like this better than the book or vice versa? In terms of the plot, the changes were obvious. They were ok and I liked it because the ml was toned down and the script was improvised. The use of comedy was a little too much like some others have said for its genre. I did wish it could have gone more into the dark side of things like the book. Other characters getting killed when they’re not supposed too was also not something I invisioned happening in the finale. The ost were nice. But there was also some scenes which was written out so I was disappointed a little. As of current, I did not finish this drama yet so I’ll revisit this comment later about the fl.
A tragedy happened so I wasn’t able to finish this when I said I was going to some 7 months ago lol. I can’t be bothered rehashing the likes and dislikes because they’re all somewhere way down in the threads but overall, the adaptation was good. The finale was a little let down because they sort of rushed and compiled it together making some scenes lose it’s appeal compared to the book. The ost was nice but I’m still hung up on that 5 Rings ringtone that they didn’t stick with. 😂 The chemistry was chemistrying but I had hoped for just a little more content closer to the book including Yiguo. Though they did film some of the extra chapters in, it would’ve been better if PS really did pick up a kitten somewhere.
People keep repeating the same take: “Gu Si had major character development.”No, he didn’t.The one who actually…
I say this comment embodies what the book was portraying too as well 100%. I think what some other people meant about his character growth was simply that he was a ‘laid back, childish’ person who didn’t need to display much of his values and talent into someone who took up responsibilities and became ‘matured’. He was always consistent with his morals but needed a reason to step up. Yu Ru was definitely the one experiencing more growth to match him. I once said this a while back, the Yellow River arc which was ‘simplified’ in the drama was extensive for each of their growths in the book especially for Yu Ru and it was a slight shame to not see her extending her wings further than what was already shown in the drama.
I’m dreading this angst. Ah!! But the plot is plotting. (If anyone is using the MDL app, click on the MangoTV icon and select the next two preview episodes).
As a fan, I admit that it took me 6 years just to finish the last 10 episodes. I was following this drama back then til the end and couldn’t finish it because Chu Ying was just gone one day. Today, I finally decided to commit and like a small percentage of others, I felt the ending just a tiny bit rushed. I think Shi Guang was actually reading the manga in the last episode? on the sofa. That was nice but I wished they could’ve filmed more into that Korean tournament then just fading it into the background. Overall, the excitement, and enjoyment of seeing the trio and their growth journey is still the same as I had back then and hoped they could reunite in some other drama one day.
far as I know, Pei Su got a fever in episode 25... But they supposedly cut out the part where Luo watches it and…
That scene happened after TZ is supposed to be awake already. I think it’s still too early for ep 25 and it might happen in the next couple of episodes though. Not sure, they look to be seriously investigating all the way into the finale. Let’s hope it’s still there.
We are nearing the end y’all. It’s starting to feel a little nostalgic to the times when we all used to wait months and years for it.
Honourable moments for ep 22:
XHY: Pleass review my reflection. LWZ: Do I have time? PS: *stares* Absolutely not.
LWZ: Everyone, lets eat hotpot. *finds the bug* *drowns it in broth* *blames Yiguo* Yiguo: Meow. *Runs*
LWZ: Ah, my partners car was stolen. help me find it. *everyone turns their head around and stares*
LWZ: Pei Su, stop rubbing a hole into your glasses.
PS facing LWZ: We may never reach that point.
PS: Get in with your low 4 digit salary?
DJ: *speaks in dialect* aiya, how long can I keep this up?
DJ: *farts* *having a stomach crisis and will explode in the car soon* *tasers the man after doing ‘business’*
PS remembering his mom who helped him from his father. Gosh she was so strong to hold out this long.
XHY: *about to smash the shit out of the guy* LQ: *tasers the man* I will kill you if I trust to help the wrong person.
DJ: Can we trust the person you want to use? Boss, you should stop him. LWZ: Dad, help me with something. DJ: *shuts up* *smiles and gives thumbs up*
Ep 23 was full of action wow. dedicated to Du Jia and those who fell victim to the murderer. the scene where LWZ saluted to DJ and DJ who fought to the end was powerful.
LWZ picking up the drone being competitive to DJ then almost dying straight after. damn.
That bomb scene could have been better if it was real.
They improv this bomb scene to LWZ disarming the bomb itself which I was a little surprised about. what I didn’t like was the obvious cgi, even the car driving through all that clouds of dust didn’t even have much dirt on it.
PS seems to handle seeing blood a little better now though.
Ha, no one is escaping writing a reflection now. Mr big boss is angry.
Now the interrogation at the end was real tensive. Look who PS keeps looking at.
Someone is finally checking over the department camera issue. I wished they could have stuck with LWZ handling this though than PS being the one discovering it.
Quotes from LWZ: ‘If these murderers die here today, families of victim will never get to see the truth in the daylight.’ ‘In every battlefield, I believe in every comrades in my hands.’
PS: I want to curse the shit out of this guy for trying to risk his life but didn’t because the situation was too urgent.
(Edit: Did anyone notice PS cooking the meat in the hotpot then giving it to LWZ? No one seems to be talking about that. It was such a sweet gesture considering he was so resistant at the start and wouldn’t even peel prawns himself).
Pei Su to his shixiong ‘I want to be with you, I don’t want to be excluded, it’s not a good feeling’ *pouts*
Tension is rising massively and I am ready for this finale.
Poor TZ is gonna live like a wrapped mummy for a while.
PS comforting LWZ these days is so nice. And they’re shipping XHY and LQ together lol.
So what does everyone think so far? Is the mole you think it is, the actual mole?

Her: Fixing the pillow.
Him: Using the pillow as an excuse to lay on her lap.
Ah! He finally confessed to her about that box. That hug she gave him and him returning it. Meow.
