ogod yes, candy candy ! and my little pony was there as well! its like everywhere, no matter what you do or how you are, someone will find fault in that , sighs. (the most damning thing actually , nearly my entire life, its been other women, no matter whether family or not , that were and are critizing each other and me. I never had an male cousin, or male colleague, or male boss, or any kind of male friends, or uncles from any side of the family, that were mocking me. its always been women. asian women, german women, other nations. always female. speaking of misogyny and so on. its really shitty. )
ahhh, eps 19 is on, enough of depressing chatting, i gotta run to go watching, not having your willpower XD
He's got "feminine" face structure, delicate lines on his face and now that he's lost so much weight he looks…
yeah, good thing, i cannot read chinese, so no use in trying to peek into chinese forums. its a difficult position to be, anyway, in mean, i am pretty sure, chinese goverment uses entertainment to well, entertain the masses, and they use the fans. on the other hand, they dont want the situation to get out of hands with rabid fans.
right, K-pop industry did rise up, in a decade, where I was mostly already older, and busy building my career, so i entirely missed that one. ( i am of chinese/vietnamese ethnic, but i was born and grew up in Germany , so i only used to know Hongkong cantonese pop culture, a little bit of japanese pop culture (Akira, sailormoon, cute stuf like Heidi) and of course, overwhelmingly , American shows and movies.
yeah, cancel culture and all its toxity in china/korea, is probably much different than Cancel culture in US and Europe. not to mention body shaming (hey i know that myself! i was once a young asian girl. i remember 15 years ago, there was this summer vacation, where i spend lots of it outside, and was more tan than my usual yellow/whitish face, and i came home visiting my grandmothers, and all of them were screaming"! aaaaaaaaayaaaai why are you so brown , its so ugly?? LOL, while my colleagues in my office said, wow, you look well rested and good!
same with body weight, for an asian , i am fairly tall (1,65 cm) and had normal weight. I fit fairly well in most German European clothing sizes (38/40 or M) , but for my older asian aunts? every second visit, they would complain, how i am a little bit too fat. sighs. well, my grannies are all dead, and my aunts are so old, they dont talk that way anymore (but they still think, being totally white, totally slim, and so on, is the most important thing for a female person).
and thats from women, who lived the last 45 years in Germany. i dont dare to imagine, how worse it is in china, vietnam, japan and korea, with them having impossible standards ,. presenting with so many idols and stars on TV, that are so slim and pretty, that everyone in real life must look ugly monsters, and is a bar, that is impossible to reach. how do normal people there survive? if they dont fit the expectations`? (well i heard in all those countries, suizide rates are highest in the world, so i guess, they dont survive...)
too heavy and unhappy topic, lets just get lost in the fantasy world, and see if youku has aired ep 19 already!!
He's got "feminine" face structure, delicate lines on his face and now that he's lost so much weight he looks…
right, Jennifer, just saw her last year? in Top Gun Maverick with Tom Cruise (i think, both of them aged pretty well, but darn, movie industry, no matter which country, is merciless with ageism and so on).
she is still gorgeous (and for Tom, what can I say, have been fangirling him since Days of Thunder).
(LOL, with 44yrs, i am pretty sure, i could be the mother or even grandmother for most of the kids hanging around at MDL, so yeah, pretty much old generation here, who went through the priviledge of growing up until 20, without my entire life being digitially filmed or photographed forever and stored forever on google pics XD)
me too, he really looked like imagined immortals and gods looked like in Ashes of Love (just as Wang Yibo in Untamed). a few more kgs would make him gorgeous.
but alas, all this talk about body shaming, i remember that male lead in starry love (forgot his name) wasnt he also absolutely cruelly shamed last year , for another drama, where he was lead actor? like i remember bits and pieces, saying back then, how he could turn so "fat" after goodbye my princess?
if fans are that cruel with male stars, i dont want to know, how chinese forums looks like, if they start shaming female stars...
I'm with you! When I'm with my family they're like "nah he's not as good looking as " or "he's average" I'm like…
WWX , lol, never thought, would say that, be he seems to have a slightly better childhood than TTJ. (at least, i think, he wasnt starved and beaten that much, though, i am not sure, how its in the novel. could be that madame Yu also starved and beaten him regularly...) but both of them, in full evil mode? GODS HOT AS HELL! they wouldnt need to threaten me to join their evol side, i would after one glance at their faces, fall to my knees and worship them anyway. and committ all evol deeds for them for free, no payment needed :O
Lol....u r not alone, why you think ATWIL ended up with 3.2 billions views in China? PP only looked at Leo and…
"One thing i like in western audiences, is that at least the overall mentality about appearance/age/disabilites etc has been improved over the past 10-20 years a lot and people nowadays can enjoy entertainment products without spending their time reading so much hate and shaming (there's still some, but comparing to the eastern is far less)"
the thing is, everything asian/chinese audience is going through, the entire toxic behaviour? is something, western audiences already went through, not less ugly, not less toxic and so on.
the biggest differences? - in that time, when the West went through all that? no internet yet. either you had your fan wars in printed fanzines or official magazines or sometimes on tv, but no internet. - second, the West has some big topic, that is in societies like Korea, China and Japan, are a non topic: diversity of ethnics. all those 3 countries are not exactly the epitome of immigration nations, right? they are literally not flooded by multi-ethnics issues and problems , after centuries or decades of immigrants, and refugees alike.
so, while in the west (Europe and USA alike) are wrestling and struggling with topics such as diversity / inclusivity (not just sexism and ~#metoo hashtags), and why some movies and dramas have not sufficiently included like african descendant people, latin american descendant people, asian descendant people, arabian descendant people and so on? totally never really been an issue or trending topic for either Chinese, Korean and Japanese audience. their respective "Oscar" alike award shows? probably dont struggle with questions like "ohh do we need a black, neurodivergent, bisexual transgender person to be moderator?"
that really would be a dream combo! I guess they both could just sit there, and reading fairy grimm tale novels, and being in all their usual beauty, and i would subscribe and pay money to watch them , LOL
He's got "feminine" face structure, delicate lines on his face and now that he's lost so much weight he looks…
i am pretty sure, there has been countless sub-comments in this thread, where other fans also commented on his thinness. for once, well, he has been always one of the thinner male actors. (not that Chinese actors are buffed up like American action heroes anyway... its not like there is ever going to be some sort of Chinese Baywatch modern drama, right??).
however, i think, as long as he claims, he is eating all well, and feel well, we should leave it.
i usually feel not very comfortable discussing both male and female bodies, coz there is too much judgments surrounding that topic, especially in a highly exposed job and profession such as being an actor or actress. sure its part of the package that in the film industry you have to sell your beauty and your face, and have to live with the judgment of billions of fans (its no different in Hollywood ). its like the english saying, you cannot keep the cake and eat the cake. The fame of actors and actresses is build on their body image, so they have to mostly suck up with judgments and positivity and negativity alike , still considering how sometimes toxic fandom (both in China and US) can get`?
He's got "feminine" face structure, delicate lines on his face and now that he's lost so much weight he looks…
omg true, now that you mentioned David Bowie, yes, there is such as the genderless resemblance!!!
i remember i was a kid, but the movie Labyrinth from 1986, (i saw it some years later, when i was ten or so (that should be in 1990) , and i thought, wow, now the goblin king is like evil, but why do i like him so much????? (but the actress, forgot her name, was also damn pretty, even though the combination of that young actress and Bowie... somehow back then the age gap did made me uncomfortable..)
hahahah, clearly a sign for the genderless beauty, for now 35 years later, how it works with leo as well!
I didn't even knew LYX that much before this drama but now i can say he is my favorite male cdrama actor.
i only remember seeing him first time in ashes of love, but really he caught my eyes with Winner is love! there, him all in white and with the gorgeous fans... after that, for him, i even watch his modern dramas, though thats normally absolutely not my cup of tea.
after this one?? I will wait eternity for immortality coming out!
He's got "feminine" face structure, delicate lines on his face and now that he's lost so much weight he looks…
very true, he is a dash too thin in this drama for my taste (but in the context of the storyline, it makes sense, whats not him being beaten all the time, and starving and so on), and but damn, you are right, his delicate features, and the bone structure that could cut glass! any mode, male or female, would kill to have his looks!
Oh yea for sure, I don’t even care how it ends and normally I don’t watch ongoing drama. But Leo in all those…
i am pretty sure, once the show has ended, there will be ten thousands of fanvids, that will make extensive use of the the 40 episodes, to create gorgeous music vids with Leo!
in the old hollywood movie from 2004 "Troy" with Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger, it was said, Helen of Troy had a face that did create a historical war, and was able to launch a thousand ships for said war.
i am very certain, that Leo's face and character from this drama, will be able to create thousands of fanvids , as well ;-D
i am pretty sure i am not the only one, who thinks, damn, Leo Luo looks so damn pretty, like nearly and any top notch high billing actress that is immortal like beautiful?? still fades when standing in his proximity?!?!
i mean, ok , i am totally shallow, give me dilraba , give me yang mi, give IDK, the most prettiest actresses of the last 3 or 4 years, and still, i catch myself just staring at Leo? like being hypnotized??
this is like the first drama, where i nearly dont give a fuck about the story, or logic, or inconsistencies or whatever`? i am just sitting in front of my computer, and pick randomly any of the 18 eps, and watch them to stare at leo?? like the last time i was that much mesmerized by a male actor , must be untamed and with Wang Yibo as LZ... hmm, and recently , only Li Hongyi came close in BoY...now thats a gorgeous beautiful actor as well...
staring at leo, makes me remember the discussions 15 years ago, when *coughscoughs* i was much younger, and was mainly watching US TV shows, and had discussions with mostly American friends, on the topic of "male gaze" and how nearly everything on US Television was catering for a male audience `? and maybe still is?
here we go, nearly 2 decades later and K- and C-dramas have perfected the "female gaze", LOL, honestly, the irony, it burns!
enough nostalgia, back at randomly picking eps, and staring further at Leo in his gorgeous costumes, and his perfect transitions and mimics, tethering between lovesick, evil, and confusion.
Youku English YouTube channel doesn't give access to the advance VIP episodes. That is only available for VIP…
"It's such a pity that Youku doesn't even have a browser friendly website to watch their dramas on like wetv and iqiyi."
that really sucks majorily. well, actually i would have paid for a subscription for youku, no matter whether they have a browser based homepage for international viewers like me. but i really thought, i could have access to the VIP episodes on any medium i choose, like either my smartphone with their app, or on my old fashioned computer. turns out as you said, no website login for intl watchers.
thats why i watch the show on illegal streaming sites, when i am at my computer. even though i will still continue to paying them, to support them.
did i miss something, i thought, she is already the concubine of that prince from the other country?!?
wow his cheekbones!
OMG the kingly costumes are KILLING ME!
damn!
its like everywhere, no matter what you do or how you are, someone will find fault in that , sighs.
(the most damning thing actually , nearly my entire life, its been other women, no matter whether family or not , that were and are critizing each other and me.
