The comments on the trailer says it reminds the movie The Great Gatsby
that was my first thought and impression as well, when I saw the first trailer yesterday. It has a very ,very similar structure and vibe, like the great gatsby , the Leo DiCaprio Version.

This is such a murky topic but... keep in mind that these kind of political / leaning-propaganda shows are what…
"Chinese government is *actively* trying to promote"
well, but isnt that the same in US? sure, their gov. doesnt probably buy into the oscars or pay companies like disney to make hyper patriotic dramas and movies, but nonetheless, the US DOD (department of defence) isnt exactly making a secret that they have entire buildings and extra military departments to support any producer of movies, if its tangible involved in making the US military looking good. Its been like that like since hollywood existed.
they rent out troops, airplances, entire military navy equipement and all that hardware stuff.

the only (albeit admittingly big) difference is, that US gov are not really that able like the Chinese Gov to stop any movies, that makes them look shitty.
and showing their failures, even if its sometime decades later. just saying vietnam war and such. If there is ever going to be an honest PRC movie about the communist party was about as shitty and brutal and killing as much (if not more) chinese people during their reign then e.g. the japanese invaders during WW2??

i would be tempted to move back to the Middle Kingdom myself, if that would ever happen in my lifetime (lol being of chinese descendant myself, though my blood is already much diluted and I was born and grew up in Germany anyway, so both the US as well as chinese propaganda amuses me to no end).

so its worth th e55 eps? i just was planning to wait and binge watch it, once all eps are aired, but wow 55 eps...…
oh, i hope i didnt spoil the wolf for you then, if i did , sorry :(
I think, NIV 2 , had quite a good ending! sure, lots of innocent people died too, but in my opinion, that ending was not so depressing.

are webnovels the same as fanfiction, or are they original stories? i am not sure about all the terminology, being of chinese(/vietnamese origin, but i was born and grew up and still live in germany :)

thanks for your long reply! i guess, based on that, i will decide, once all 55 eps are aired. and the ending is known.
NIV , i know the ending, where its said, he died. I read about the other ending, and the comments said, that last scene with him being alive, was just.. some sort of last sec joke for overseas audience? either way, i did not mean to imply that sad is bad, in context of NIV, that death ending, was quite consequential and suited the entire sotry; justice /revenge was the reason the Main character mei changsu fight for staying alive, so once that was achieved (and getting his childhood friend the throne, which the firstborn son, the dead elder brother could not achieve) i guess, I would ask myself, if i wanted to live on with so many illnesses.
as for the Wolf (i think, you mistyped coz you mentioned NIV twice?) i agree, i wished the main couple could have stayed togehter, but alas, fans can always imagine a happy ending, if they wish. After all, its fictional and death in shows and dramas are always .. not always the end.

lets see how court lady turns out! until then, i still wait for long ballad and Word of heroes to finish with subs :)

Its a really good drama.. Xu kai and yitong's chemistry is just wonderful
so its worth th e55 eps? i just was planning to wait and binge watch it, once all eps are aired, but wow 55 eps... its not dragging or so? its light hearted and funny? and not too earnest and depressing and melodramatic like half the other fantasy historical or wuxia c-dramas? i mean dont get me wrong, i also like them hypersad, like 6 years ago, nirvana in fire, but that was not mainly about love. and then last year, i watched The Wolf , and well, great story, but again depressing ending...

Just started watching it..Am I the only one who feels that the actors are more angular in this show than others..??
i am confused what you mean with angular? do you mean their faces are more (i used a synonym google search) v-shaped or pointed amongst other meanings?

I saw a video yesterday mentioning that Kong Wa isn't part of the cast. I also failed to see him anywhere during…
Interesting, so back then while you didnt like the Drama much did you watch it because you liked the majority of the cast?

Ps: my cantonese is probably much much worse than yoirs, considering i am second Generation german Born vietnamese of Chinese heritage ?? i only learned some cantonese as a child back than coz my gradfathers who came from China (and married my grandmothers in Vietnam) were still living back then, and watched tvb with me as a child...

I am so excited for the continuation! even though the ending of the series was kinda perfect and cruel!

this might be an odd question, but since i am relatively new to C-dramas: why do the TV stations/companies keep on changing the titles of the dramas?
not just with this one, but i realized, some other dramas were announced with one title, and then later, another title, and then even later, a third or even fourth title when they aired??
is there any , hmm, commercial reason behind this?
so i know, the dramas are often adapted from novels, so that novel has a certain title, and then later, if the show decides for another title, that should be fine, coz they paid for it, but other than that?

any other logic behind title changes?
Thanks!

Live action probably will have only 40 episodes because of new law to prevent fillers etc. Comparing to 50 episodes…
there is a law to prevent fillers? how do they decide, what is a filler episode? do you have any links to articles in english about this???

Don't count on watching Fated General, at least not anytime soon. It got banhammered by Chinese censorship.
but why, fated general sounds and looks (from the trailers) as patriotic as hell? doesnt the chinese government are totally in for that kind of propaganda??

Person Vincent Chiao
I cant believe, its been like 20 years, since I watched Legend of Dagger Lee with Vincent. I remember that there was supposed to be a sequel "Legend of Dagger Lee II", and it seems that its listed in his TV filmography here: https://wiki.d-addicts.com/Vincent_Jiao

since I cannot read or write , my search on youtube and via google has not been successful. Is there anyone here, could confirm, if part 2 ever really existed, and I just imagine back than 20 years ago, that I saw some promotion pictures and a trailer?
I mean, I would even pay for any DVD or VCD , if its buyable anywhere?
my aunt and me, we really loved vincent chiao in his role as dagger lee. and a sequel, even a bad one, would be really a great gift!

thanks for reading this and helping me out!
or maybe show me some other forum other than mydramalist, where I could continue my search??

yes time travel is not allowed in china but drama makers use all the loop holes to get censor acceptance they…
thanks for explaining! that means, as long as time travel is not really touching anything regarding the power structure of the current powers that rule in china, and is disguised as fantasy, and not lets say, achievable through science fiction , its ok? jesus, how exhausting , if all the common people want is just stupid leisure and brainless entertainment.

Unfortunately no one is subbing this drama but i am waiting for this drama for over 10 months! Such a good drama!…
I am not sure, if you still are here, but I can understand cantonese, but sadly no mandarin. So I would be very grateful if you could tell me, if you remember, how I find this show with all 40 eps in Cantonese! my google abilities have failed me, all i can find, are some sites, that have a few eng subs, or are all in mandarin :(
Thank you in advance if you could help!
