though it bears to repeat, i am not watching SSS, coz i want superior fight scenes, i was simply drawn into the layers of layers of ridiculous intrigue and plots (sure they are not realistic, but i have yet to have seen any storyline in Hongkong or Chinese or Taiwanese fantasy drama the last 35 yeras, that i could find realistic, its simply not something i value)
i am drawn to different shows because of different things, e.g. i am skipping through luoyang , coz i simply want to see the pretty photoshopped face of wang yibo. hahah.
i am currently downloading ace troops with zhao zhan, coz i miss his pretty face, not because i need any intelligent plot by stupid communist army propaganda.
and here, SSS, i am not particulary fawning over any of the actors or actresses. though i like the ML coz of his lead in Joy of Life. but the story captivates me, so i guess, if he would be switched with any other idol /non idol, i still would be watching. same probably for nirvana in fire. or joy of life. if the actors are all halfway decent and capable. they are interchangeable to me, as long as the story is captivating.
in the end, all opinion and assessment of shows and movies are isubjective, even if there are like trillion reviews saying a certain show is superior , it doesnt matter, one simply cannot force another person, to feel the same as the rest. monetary turnover isnt a sign of quality , lack of turnover is not a sign of inferiority.
i cannot even recall, how many oscars were given to whatever movies, which i couldnt survive watching the first 10 minutes.
most marvel and disney movies work for me, but still, not all. lets not start about franchises with billions of views like star wars...

absolutely agree with you , thats why i find it rather comforting, that SSS and Joy of LIfe, are both based on completed novels, so at least, if we never get S2 or S3, we can still check on the novels, to see how the author planned the ending.

Pacing is a little slow considering 38 episodes. But episode 22 was pretty good, excited for the next ones.

i am as shallow and as superficial as any Instagram junkie addict, but still WOW real skin texture! i feel like transported back 30 or 35 years in the past, while watching all those HKG tvb and atv dramas ! in my memory, back in those old glory HongKong drama days, those actors were also still having sort of real skin (more or less). probably due to not existing software like now....
