Once again I'm reminded of why I can't seem to get into wuxia dramas... the pace is always slow with very drawn…
good choice. and your comment reminds me, initial eps CAN be deceiving. one should always try to give the shows a couple of eps for a trial run, before deciding to not watch them, maybe its getting better.
it says here in the "details" Aired On: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sundayso practically…
oh, that is really sad, if its down to one ep per day... on the other hand, its holidays soon anyway, so i guess its endureable.
i have plenty books, i must read anyway, so its better, they curb my addiction.
but then its not true, this show just make me realize, how much i would like to beg the censors, to release fated general with the male lead. GODS the trailers from fated general looks so good too..
don't think there's english translation for the novel yet since all the sites just have the entry but no uploads.
Thank you for the advice with edge browser. I guess, i will see if the drama is at least some success, so that the novel might be picked up for translation. too sad, google translate is good, but not yet good enough for translating wuxia chinese stories automatically into other non-asian languages. The world building and complex structures of cultivating are quite some challenging concepts for westerners. ... well, but i am pretty sure, if netflix and other US streaming services will pick up more chinese dramas, in the next few decades, this might help.
That's okay not everybody likes a scheming dramas like this 🤭
very true comment. I mean i read ravings of luoyang all the time, but both dramas seem to have the same rating, something about 8,4 or so? I have watched Luoyang for a couple of eps, because of wang yi bo, but i totally have like zero feelings for the leads, nor does the crime and story there draws me in, like at all. i have like 26 eps yesterday downloaded, and skimmed through them in like 1 hour, without having the feeling that i missed anything great.
the setting and landscape and cities there are very pretty and vivid though. definitly , apart from yibo , very great pretty visuals.
Me too. I felt sad when ML heard about his death. But he needed to die for its purpose.
have you ready the novel, is he dead there like really really dead? i mean, this is like a fantasy story with so many high level cultuvators and plots and hidden plots from like at least 7 factions? until we really see the dead body, maybe lao huang is still alive??? its like in fictional dramas, the "dead" turns out to be alive ALL THE DAMN TIME :D
Does anyone know the airing schedule and how many episodes per release?
it says here in the "details" Aired On: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday so practically every day, and per day 2 eps. this seems to be consistent for the last few days, since in the evening, when i am home from work, i always have 2 eps for download from my preferred sites.
don't think there's english translation for the novel yet since all the sites just have the entry but no uploads.
@peachblossomgoddess I see, Thank you for the explanation. I did not know that. well , its kind of ..understandable. i mean, legally asking for money is not possible with fanfiction ( i guess, that it is the same in china as it is in the west, concerninig IP rights?) but for original fics, that must be feasible. However, of course, that might be sort of a wrong incenctive though. Unless dragging the story on, does not lower the quality. quite difficult. I guess, in such a system, i would rather prefer to wait until the story is complete, and then pay for it, after i could read the first few chapters , to see if the writing is good?

wow, 984 chapters! though i remember two years ago, i did read an original fantasy wuxia stories, that must have had like billions of chapters as well ;D good thing, i came to it quite late, so i had plenty to read and not having to wait a million years for the conclusion.
i was actually series in one of my comments here, if i actually "knew" how to contact such translator groups, i could seriously thinking about negotiating about payment.
actually you DO remind me of something, i tried to years ago, with Joy of Life.. the series was great, and the novel was great too! so i wanted to give the author some payment, and even tried to follow the instructions , but it was SO DAMN difficult, every thing was in english, and eventually, after a while , i gave up :(
why cant the author just having some paypal account , and i could LIKE GIVE HIM MY MONEY??
i can buy the most silliest stuff from Alieexpress and have it shipped like in 6 or 16 weeks to Germany, but wanting to pay someone in China for enjoying the virtual intellectual property , IS SO DAMN HARD?!?!? WHY???
thank god, the untamed is hopefully rightfully lizensed and translated into english, and can be bought at amazon ...

this is so very kind of you :) thank you very much! unfortunately, even though i am of vietnamese and chinese heritage and can speak both vietnamese and cantonese (20 years watching Hongkong TVB dramas with my grandfather hahah, did not leave my language skills unaffected..) i cannot read either :( but its great to know, that the author has admirers in vietnam too :D:D
I'm crying tears of happiness and sobbing for a good 10 minutes now. I've been WAITING almost 2 decades for a…
I am so happy, coz there are other here, who DO KNOW still about Brigitte Lin! jesus, i remember nearly 3 decade ago, i was a teenager, but seeing her in The East is red , i was like, woah, for a woman like her, i could (nearly) turn lesbian... SHE WAS SO GORGEOUS°! no one ever came close
and yes, snow sword stride is affecting me nearly on levels of Nirvana in Fire! its court politics but also has the wuxia fantasy cultivation world! the blending of those worlds, the pace of the storytelling, gods, if i could pay for seeing all 38 eps right now, i would shell out money via paypal without hesitation (well i would pay more, if i could the initial 50 eps...)
that female cultivator in white, *fans myself* is really hot , coz she is so cold :D
I have a silly question, in episode 4 the maid (that princess from that fallen kingdom) must dry the books in the sun. I am kind of curious, why do those books have to be dried? is the air in this fictional (?) country setting is so humid? thanks !
can anyone help me? it says above in the summary: ~~ Adapted from web novel "The Snowy Path of the Heroic Blade" (雪中悍刀行) by Feng Huo Xi Zhu Hou (烽火戏诸侯
however, my google skills totally fail me, since i only can search in english. does this novel has been translated into english? and if yes, could anyone be so kind, and point me in the right direction? thank you!
just like joy of life, i would like to read the entire novel and see what they leave out, coz i remember reading, the original length was 50 eps, and now mydramalist says, its only aired 38eps? and some commenter here said, it only season 1? meaning, we might wait a couple of years, like Joy of life, to get to see season2? (which honestly I don't mind that much, but I would like to know in advance to prepare myself mentally).
i love this show so far, in my subjective opinion, it has kicked any other drama from this year :D
I am curious, i dont know the K-Drama you are referring to, nor the comics (manwha?) that is based on, since I am coming from a generation that well, grew up without the internet ;-D but I was wondering, how come, the Kdrama production companies do not have a high budget as the Chinese one? obviously, I thought, south Korea must be at least , if not much more, wealthy (as a country) than China? (well obviously, that is the same for Japan, but then I have never seen any of their costume K- or J-Dramas , modern or historic). the only thing I ever knew, was the 80/90 with the golden age drama shows of Hongkong, may it be historical wuxia or xianxia dramas or modern dramas. and I just recently (like 3 years ago) joined C-dramas because of Nirvana in Fire.
long blathering, short question: why aren't Japan and Korea producing dramas on the quality level of China? is it simply because their population is so much more... less than china?
more posters!! confirmed 12/15/2021!! https://www.avirtualvoyage.net/2021/12/sword-snow-stride-with-zhang-ruo-yun-li-geng-xi-and-zhang-tian-ai-finally-claims-broadcasting-slot.html
you were a tad quicker than me , i just saw the virtualvoyage announcement this morning, and thought by myself, must go in the evening to mydramalist to add their link, and the good news, that sword snow stride is coming (hopefully they will not pull it off last minute!)
the only thing that could make me more happy, would be if the gov allows for release of fated general as well!
depends on how you define "happy". like the kind of western romantic happily ever after? then not at all. then its not happy. In the sense of grand chinese tradition, that duty to your country comes before anything? then yes, damn hell, what a "happy" ending ;D
I know, right? i mean, i saw this 2 years ago, it was the drama that well, ruined me for every other drama, chinese…
joy of life has also some pretty dark secrets, that come up later, in the novels. the drama Joy Of Life only covers about 1/3 of the entire novel story. but its sooooo good and funny and lighthearted (in contrast to NIF, where there wasnt like, any fun at all, or rather, like nano seconds of comedy)
My stance still stands. nothing has come close to beating NIF, but JOL came pretty close , the story telling is just mindblowing. if you are not one to drool over idols or need super pretty actors to enjoy a show, then JOL is definitely for you). nothing wrong with wanting pretty shallow actors and shows though, I like them myself. I just dont rewatch them, coz there are too many pretty chinese actors and shows , so rewatching is not necessary.
i was pretty sad, that NIF 2 was not that genius level masterpiece. I hope, one day we still can have NIF 3.
maybe that is, what the hype of those, who worship this show, is about :-) , the politics and the superior scheming…
lol, and I am not a one liking palace dramas, maybe thats why it took me so long to figure all the mystery hahaha. I dearly loved Joy of Life, and i spend an entire night, devouring the novel online, but alas, its really, really great.
but my assessment still stands, NIF is still superior to any other chinese drama I have enjoyed the last 2 or 3 years. not even JOL can top that.
though as you said, the main character is such fun to watch! i so dearly wish, after ähh 4 or more years, that they would release his other drama "fated general".
i have plenty books, i must read anyway, so its better, they curb my addiction.
