So this arc is needed for both of them to move , truly move past the events of the yore.. wipe the slate clean ( if you notice, in the car... when they were talking about ordinary.. and at start of the episode.. LJ still feels worthless or has his insecurities about being good enough for BJ... this pursuit will show how much BJ is willing to go for him and understand that love is love... can't measure it against anything else but emotions)

and for LJ to know for certainty that he would always fall for BJ in every lifetime. Plus he deserves a proper pursuit to form these new memories of lie free, burden free, sincere pursuit
