Episode 7: Unless this gets screwed up somehow in the final five episodes, SBMSATR is for sure going on my best BLs list.
People are ragging on Mashiro's psycho mother showing up in Tokyo as being a negative development. Still, taking the longer view, her arrival is exactly what he needs to push him to the point where he HAS to break free or remain under her twisted thumb until she croaks. He could take her out early, of course, but that would risk prison and potentially upset Kanade.
BL plots have taught me to hope for the best and expect the worst, but at the end of ep 7, Mashiro appears to be doing exactly what he needs to do to begin escaping her soul-crushing effect on his life. He can't change what went before, but he can change what happens from here forward. When he slowly put his fist to his chest to do his defensive/power-gathering little ritual, and slowly spoke his truth, I felt immensely proud of him.
An aspect of the way this mother character is written that I like a lot is that she clearly KNOWS what she is doing and how it hurts and stifles his nature. The look of barely-contained rage and indignation on her face as he slowly spoke his truth at her was both scary and delicious to see. Also, it was heartbreaking to see how, even as he took this huge step to assert himself, he still was not able to look her in the eye. Such is the extent of the damage she has done him.
He can't look her in the eye YET, that is. Mashiro, FIGHTING!
These two are def going to end up one of my all-time fave BL couples. Love them both, but I've a special place in my heart for Mashiro. His combination of bravado, vulnerability, goofiness, sexiness, and handsome/goofy looks is endearing af.
Mashiro's situation is why I avoid giving trivial advice to people who are having family issues. "They're…
This. The "family is always best" thing we get so much of is SO not true. A great deal of the worst trauma people ever experience involves family members. This is nothing new either.
I can't be sure from his bio pic, but they appear to have plucked the hell out of his eyebrows for this role, perhaps to emphasize the wonderful things he does with his eyes and face as Mashiro. However, the brows are so clearly plucked that I find it distracting. I keep thinking, "why would Mashiro pluck his eyebrows? He doesn't seem like the type." Thoughts?
Also, I'm looking forward to hunting down any videos of him with his Jpop dance troupe on YT. Any one have links?
I find Hori Natsuki especially endearing. He's cute but has that tiny overbite. He has a tall, rockin' bod, but often seems like a tall, rockin' little kid. :)
this is one thing not likeable about South Korea... it's hard to imagine how a comparably 'minor' thing like low…
If you're talking about Sungri, who most people who don't know what they're talking about, consider the "main perp," he did 18 months in jail, paid huge fines lost all his endorsements, was fired by his agency, exiled from Big Bang, and is a pariah in South Korea. I'd say he was punished sufficiently according to law.
Sungri was never charged, tried, or convicted for any form of sexual assault/rape, despite the Knetz liars endlessly claiming otherwise. Nor did he share any of the sexual assault videos on the chat group. Most Burning Sun hysterics are allergic to facts, because facts make the story so much more boring than it is.
The actual "main perp," whose name I don't recall, did or is doing four or five years in jail plus all I listed above related to Seungri. What do you want, execution?
I often wonder, if prostitution is illegal, why aren't the prostitutes charged and tried?
Holy s**t. This is seriously too f**king excellent to believe.
I watch with a maniacal Joker grin stretched across my face, but my squinted eyes are misty with feels at the same time. These guys make me laugh like a donkey and squeal like an emotional bitch all at the same time. I love them.
I suspect Kanade's senior is a LOT more interested in Boys Love than he's letting on right now.
Thank you. :(I found an MDL page for all but Jung Chae Yull. If you know they are here under a slightly different…
Me too! I am a huge fan of Yoo. I've been worried for his life ever since the police, media, and courts began torturing him nearly two years ago. He seems to be doing well but it is not possible to know what is going on inside someone else's heart and soul, especially from half a world away.
I did not make it all the way through "Hi Five;" it's just not my kind of flick. But I watched about half of it and smiled like an idiot the whole time at the sight of Yoo doing what he does so well. There is NO part he can not play. He is a phenomenal actor.
Thanks for compiling such a list. You may also consider the following actors as well: Jung Chae Yull, Choi Jung…
Thank you. :( I found an MDL page for all but Jung Chae Yull. If you know they are here under a slightly different name or something please let me know.
I know far more than I wish I did about Jonghyun's passing. He was already near the top of my list but I guess you missed him. I discovered him by accident about five years ago when I was first becoming interested in Korean music and movies. That voice. I watched SHINee videos like crazy for a couple weeks, going crazy over their music and performances, but especially focused on the handsome one with the killer voice and stage presence, Jonghyun. After two weeks, I was reading through some comments and quickly realized he had been dead already two years. I wept like a child, such was the hold he had taken on me.
Jonghyun's heartbreaking story is what opened me up to the horror of Korea's suicide problem, especially among its celebrities. I had no idea until then. I became a big Korean cinema fan at the same time, and little by little I came to understand how massive this Korean suicide nightmare is, and how little is done to this day to openly address it.
Korea is awash in talent, beauty, shame, guilt, self-righteous judgmentalism, and booze, a bad combo all-round. We have all those things and worse in the US but for some reason don't kill ourselves at near the rate Koreans do.
Moon bin didn't commit suicide and his family themselves said not to spread false information online about the…
Only a suicide-enabler would look at a list of 31 young, beautiful, Korean entertainers who have killed themselves and think, "I need to tell whoever compiled this list to STFU." Those who live in denial regarding SK's massive suicide problem, such as yourself, are a big part of the problem. Telling sensible people to shut up about it feeds the cycle and makes things worse.
Moonbin killed himself. Anyone who isn't delusional knows it. His family is full of it. I'm guessing their delusions are made easier to bear by the loads of cash Fantagio no doubt slipped to them under the door.
I don't tolerate being told what to say or post, so I'll thank you to buzz off. Being called "rude" by someone like you is a compliment. I think I'll move Moonbin up near the top of my list. It's what he would want as a cautionary warning to his former fans, don't you think? oops! Was that rude?
On edit: Check it out! Moonbin is #3 now. Thanks for the inspiration.
I haven't read through comments below yet, but to those who trashed this fine actor leading up to his death or are gloating afterward, you are scum.
Oh, and get a clue, MDL! Song Young Kyu did NOT "pass away," he died by suicide after the usual ritualistic Korean soul-murder campaign led by the Knetz. Please stop glossing over suicides here. You're not helping.

Highest rate of alcoholism and abuse in the developed world.
Also the highest rate of suicide. By far.
Knetz are sadists. They LOVE the pain they inflict.
