Your comment is so biased in so many ways. You are categorizing the series into a box. I'm pretty sure there is…
"well haters going to hate on anything" this is such a deep and original thought that I am simply left stunned and without the ability to respond. you are a goddess or God or whatever and what are you two all hung up about being lesbians in regard to this? I said nothing about anyone's sexuality. LOL
Your comment is so biased in so many ways. You are categorizing the series into a box. I'm pretty sure there is…
you seem to be using the word "biased"to mean that I am predisposed to feel the way that I feel and not the way that you feel or someone else feels, and to express my feeling. in which case, then yes just like everyone else I am biased. note: nowhere in my statement did I use the word "straight."
this show was made for the Bad Buddy/Kinn Porsche crowd, those who found those shows to be great masterpieces. Anyone with adult standards for film and drama beyond the age of 15 will read this show for the juvenile, badly acted / produce / directed production that it is. the biggest problem of all, well besides the silly story and the attempts of these 20 year old actors to portray characters with the life experience of a 35-year-old, is that its overall vibe is that of a Disney after school special made for bad kids. or maybe a high School production. I laughed out loud when a doctor and a resident or whatever at the hospital, two different characters who in real life would have to be at least 35 to be in their positions given the years of study and training after that required by the medical profession, showed up on screen pretending to be people they could not possibly be in real life. it feels like Halloween and watching little kids dressed up like doctors and gangsters come to my door for candy. what a joke.
as always, it is no surprise that this show is wildly overrated here at mdl. the gasping, breathless fangirls, who have no standards and who see gay men as stuffed, adorable little creatures, to get all fujoshi-wet over. who don't believe in their hearts that gay men actually have deep romantic, sexual feelings, all Rush to over rate shows like this after the first 20 minutes. I see one notorious commenter above wetting herself over the awesomeness of the show, who is well-known for the same behavior regarding other such productions. lol same old, same old here at mdl.
to anyone with adult requirements for your entertainment enjoyment, you can skip this one. it is absolutely juvenile, silly, high School level laughable in every way. it is the type of bl you would never want anyone outside your BL circle of Friends to know you were watching. :)
dropped like the big fat, stinky turd it is before the end of the first episode. 1/10
bad things happen in life. rape is one of the bad things that happens, just as murder is one of the bad things…
where did I ask you to "give the character a pass?" you still don't get it. do you ever watch murder mysteries? do you give the murderer a pass for having murdered someone? if someone lies do you have to give them a pass or you stop watching the movie? I tried to watch this show and found it juvenile and stupid, even though it tries to be dark in tone. that characters behaviors in the past and present regarding killing people and having people raped, etc, is what makes his character dark and repugnant. this is a classic type of character out of Chinese BL writing. I don't know why you're all excited about it. move on. I see comments like yours as performative displays of self-righteousness, nothing more.
I think he is in the novel :( And the author herself has said that she hates the way she wrote her story, and…
my bet is the author doesn't feel that way at all, she is just saying so to please the public now that her novel has become a drama and all the drama queens are freaking out about rape and other transgressive issues in the script because that's what snowflakes do. she doesn't regret what she wrote at all. LOL
So, as pointed out by sarina and cloudest here, the ML is a r@*ist. Why is no one talking about that? Is everyone…
bad things happen in life. rape is one of the bad things that happens, just as murder is one of the bad things that happens in a murder mystery. please grow up sometime or stop watching shows that are beyond your capacity to understand as a story on a screen and not the tale of someone you live next door to.
Grow up. The world isn't black/white, All or nothing. I watch movies that are extremely sad or tragic, I watch movies that are hilarious and fun and uplifting, and I watch movies of every type in between those two.
dismissing any film or series that ends tragically for a gay couple, as " misery p***, quote, is juvenile.
are you saying that films and series that present realities you don't care to acknowledge, should not be watched by you or anyone else? ridiculous. some of the best films ever made are hard to watch because of the subject matter and the way it is presented. I haven't watched this yet but your review makes me all the more eager to see it. movies and dramas do not exist just to make us happy happy all the time.
I had no idea going in that this was partly a musical. thus, I was sort of shocked when the singing started, but I love the way the singing was blended into the conversations at times especially in the swimming pool scene at night, which was beautifully done both visually and emotionally.
the best acting in this thing takes place during the songs. during that pool scene I was all goosebumpy and :-).
there were some weak spots otherwise, but nothing that detracts from how original and overall successful and daring this was as a BL short film. the dunces below who fast forwarded through the songs, missed the most important parts. why would you even do that instead of just dropping the show?
bravo!
this is one of the most original BL short films ever made. you will have to watch to discover why. it is far from perfect but its charms and successes for outweigh it's weaknesses. it is worth the watch for the night time indoor pool scene alone. very moving. the way the singing was integrated right into conversation was wonderful.
me too! there were a few weak moments of course, but so what? this was really something new and unexpected. it is beautifully filmed as well. surprisingly, the best acting and identification with the characters and their emotions for me came when they were singing, which I would have expected to be ridiculous. I'm glad I went into this not knowing it was a musical because it was a wonderful surprise. of course, I'm a musical theater fan though not a psycho one. I loved the way they blended the singing right into some of the conversations without any warning or build up and it felt so natural to me. the scene in the indoor pool at night was beautiful, both visually and emotionally. I was all goosebumpy and :-)
probs not gonna go thru many comments (i fully acknowledge that an 8.3 is great and i'm assuming most ppl are…
Yes, he IS a terrible actor. I said the same, you said "whatevs," and it's almost like no one told you they were "upset" by it or that you can't praise the show despite his bad acting. Go right ahead.
I don't mind that you curse, nor did I say I was "upset" about your cursing. I enjoy using plenty of curses and obscenities IRL too, depending on location and circumstances. It's HOW you curse that's lame. There is no creativity or originality or humor in your cursing; it's just "fuck" and "fucking" over and over and over. I can hear/read that from American politicians everyday online, I don't need it here too.
Oh...you might take a moment to read the new-ish warning about commenting that is now at the top of every thread. Things got a bit wild here a few months back and the mods cracked down. Believe me, I know: I used to curse and talk smack a LOT more here than I do now. It's sad, but the way it is. :)
Again, you don't sound like a "grown adult." Fifteen, maybe? High school sophomore?

How does it matter how many dramas are out there?
There are a zillion mainstream films out there, too, and for every lousy actor who lands a major role by being the child of well-connected parents, or blowing the director, there are a hundred other, more talented, actors who could have done better. And every time I see this phenomenon, it annoys me, whether it's in a first-rate film or a BL. It doesn't annoy you, however, and that's fine; no one said that you have to be annoyed.
I like having standards, though. Every time I take a dump, it annoys me that the bathroom stinks, because I have olfactory standards, too. But I keep going back, because I don't have a choice. I suppose I could do my business in the kitchen or on the balcony, but that would be gross. Come to think of it, casting a bad actor because "there's soooo many dramas out there nowadays," is sort of like taking a dump in the kitchen and pretending it's not there, lying on the floor, because "there are sooooo many stinky kitchens around nowadays" anyway.
Oh i recognize this novel Counter Attack. They also produced a low budget adaptation of this novel many years…
I love that crappy little, low-budget show, FILWAR. Despite all its shortcomings, its huge heart wins me over. Also, pretty funny and sometimes absurdly so.
Hallo, guten Tag! Es tut mir nicht leid. :) I'm American, but German from both sides of my family. 100% pure Kraut. :D
The main and most glaring aspect of this show I find "absurd" is the casting of that tiny, little, wispy, un-muscled, wimpy dude as the "former Olympic medalist gymnast." lol Girl, please, as the kids say. :) Gymnasts are often smaller than average, but they have amazingly strong and athletic bodies. Even if the character hadn't seen the inside of a gym in years, he wouldn't look like the tiny, noodle-armed guy playing the part.
Then, there is his personality: Weak, submissive, even fearful. There is nothing about him indicating the sort of internal strength and fortitude it takes to succeed at gymnastics, let alone at the Olympic level.
Worst of all, he is a terrible actor and apparently, receiving terrible direction. Either way, he is an unconvincing and amateurish thespian.
This show has multiple other absurd qualities, but the ones described above are the most glaring. The miscasting and misdirection of this actor knock the rest of the show off-kilter. With every scene he's in, and there are dozens of course, I am pulled out of the plot to roll my eyes at the silliness before me.
probs not gonna go thru many comments (i fully acknowledge that an 8.3 is great and i'm assuming most ppl are…
I dropped it about halfway through episode three. I consider 90 minutes out of a 240-minute show enough to be considered "giving it a chance," but you may disagree.
The biggest "absurdity" in this show is that this little dude, with his tiny frame, delicate demeanor, and lack of discernible muscle mass, is somehow an Olympic gymnastics medalist. Seriously? lol It IS true that gymnasts tend to be smaller than average, but this guy could have at least hit the gym to prepare for this role. Clearly, he did not.
