The absurd casting of that wimpy little guy as a cop is just one of many reasons I'm dropping this sad thing. Too bad, because the lead has potential and a great face.

After I left the comment to which you responded, I read through others and determined it's the jealousy thing that I'm supposed to be feeling the angst about. However, the bowl cut guy turned out to be harmless and Ryo knows that, so I don't get what the melodrama is all about.

He saw them together on the street after Zen had said he was still working, which he only said to cover that he was shopping for a present for Ryo, and it was clear that Zen and Futami were going their separate ways home, so again, I'm not getting where this is all coming from.

It seems too low-key to serve as a climax to this story.

Save your angst, the "This is what's going to happen in the adaptation because it's what happened in the Manga and no changes are ever made" people are never going to catch a clue.

The most entertaining part is when they share what was in the Manga as if reading the Ten Commandments from Mount Zainai. :)

I'm lost.
I'm not getting why Ryo's so stressed, when everything he might have suspected between Zen and Futami turned out to be nothing...?

Why was his asking Zen to stay overnight, presented as if it were some climactic event?

I felt like 7&8 held the promise of drama, but actually, not much happened.

After reading comments below, I guess I got what I was supposed to get, that Ryo is jealous and that Zen isn't good at assuaging that jealousy, so Ryo is lost in it and sad, but...it all comes off so low-impact to me that I'm not feeling it.

Anyway...Futami's a quirky guy. I like him. Cute, too. The hair is ridiculous, but that's why it's fun. :)
I was hoping Ryo would catch him putting the moves on Zen when he came out of the bedroom after his drunk nap, but it was a fake-out preview tease. :(
That could have been some major drama.
As it was, I'm not sure why Ryo was down when Zen left...

Thus one can only know by checking.
Why do you care if I occasionally watch part of a show to see whether or not its other attributes outweigh its dubbing or whether it's dubbed at all?

As far as I know, it's not possible to know if a show is dubbed without watching at least part of the first episode.
Then comes the determination as to whether the plot/story/acting of the live actors outweighs the melodramatic acting of the voice actors.
Then comes the decision whether or not to drop the show, which I do in nearly every case.
See how that works?

There's no need to make a blanket choice to "stop watching Chinese actors."
But you can do that if you want to.

This is one of about 10 films that keep pulling me back in for repeated viewings, and during each one, I discover new, small bits and pieces.

I doubt I'll ever "figure out" either of these two guys, but doing so isn't a goal any longer.
How many of us walk through life without figuring out ourselves, let alone someone else?

I used to think, "I don't even like these dudes. Why do I keep coming back?"
But then I realized I like various parts of both of them a lot, and maybe I don't need to decide whether I like either one as a whole, whatever that means.

I'm bumping my rating up from 8.5/10 to 9/10... for now.
