Terrible, awful, pathetic. I can make myself watch no longer...dropped after 3 eps.
This is particularly painful because nothing but BL trash comes out of Thailand or the Philippines anymore, which leaves me with Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Now this type of cheesy dreck is turning up more frequently out of Korea; Taiwan too. I am near despair. My personal BL Golden Age seems to be drawing to a close...
Dropping.

haha...the 8.3/10 rating here tells you everything you need to know about the MDL BL viewership's taste level and gullibility. Sad but also hilarious. :D
If ep 2 from 27:21 onward into ep 3 doesn't count, I don't know what will. Bare shoulders? Serious steam? :D
No such luck. I tried rewatching S2 a few days ago and dropped it 20 minutes in. I think my taste level has risen significantly since I first watched this just 8 months ago. It just felt juvenile and lame..I wasn't having it.
The plot and the office stuff comes off so silly. I just didn't care.
I watch a lot more films than dramas and I don't drop my standards much just because something is a BL, so I drop most of them these days. :P Sadly.
Chian and Fou4mod had a long kissing scene in ep 5
That's your opinion, which is fine. To me, people being incredibly turned on and intimate in a sexual situation, with their mouths inches from each other but not kissing is...odd. Especially since they kissed outside of a sexual situation.
So OK, of course it is a director's choice. So why did the director MAKE that choice and what is he trying to say with it? Furthermore, regarding the lack of kisses in ITSAY and IPYTM, why does Boss restrain his characters in that way? Any thoughts?
I'm going to do a little research.
On edit: I can't find anything addressing why Boss's characters tend not to kiss much, which is also odd because they definitely don't. I am not fond of explanations like "Boss doesn't do that" because that doesn't address the WHY of that choice. Oh well.
I don't remember the other two smooches you mention at all. I'm not saying they didn't happen; just that they weren't anything memorable to me.
Chian and Fou4mod had a long kissing scene in ep 5
I already mentioned that. That kiss was odd. It also does not explain why they never kissed when they were incredibly turned on and working each other's man-stick. Which was also odd.
I found it strange and revealing that both times Chian and F4M did the hand jive, they never kissed, not once, even when it seemed like they were about to, which was an obvious choice in the writing/direction. Anyone care to comment on what the meaning of that is? I have some ideas... I know they made out that one time on the street, but that kiss was strange...like to mouths AT each other rather than INTO each other.
I don't think Bua/BB ever kissed either. Thoughts?
How did Chian "come to his senses?" He hinted right at the end at how he would soon be up to his old, sadistic…
OK...now you're edging into arrogance and your comments are becoming pedantic. NO ONE, least of all me, said the show is ONLY about consumerism. I said the critique and criticisms of consumerism are all over the place in the script/plot/settings/set dressing/etc. but most commenters are missing it.
I'm not here to read your essays insisting that your viewpoint on this show is the intellectual/only one that's valid, which is laughable. But good on you for writing all that out. I skimmed most of it for the time being. When someone says "THIS is what this book/movie/play/whatever is about, and it is only about THIS one thing as I say it is," I tune them out pretty quickly. I tuned you out. Tell someone else about it.
You consider that, especially in the case of F4M and Chian, to be "sorted out?" F4M, as much as I like him, is…
hmmm...here's how I see it: They THINK they are being transparent but they are not, at least not fully. But I get what you're saying for the most part.
How did Chian "come to his senses?" He hinted right at the end at how he would soon be up to his old, sadistic…
I'll start by saying there is no reason the show can't be about consumerism and a host of other issues. I never wrote that it is ONLY about consumerism: I said that consumerism and the massive artificiality of their lifestyle if being critiqued here over and over in ways that are going over most viewers' heads when it is all over the place on the screen. They and the characters in the show exist WITHIN that intense, plastic, consumerist culture to the extent they cannot see that is the case, which is not surprising. I think most of us fight all our lives to see who we are and how we live from the outside rather than in. Most Americans at least, seem far too shallow to even know what I'm talking about. (I'm American and it's a horrible time to be American right now.)
I don't think it's a teen thing either. This shit goes down for most people all their lives. The just suffer in silence, most having given up.
I pretty much agree with everything else you wrote. Another note is that as I watched I became more and more agitated about and by F4M as the show progressed. He felt like one thing in the beginning but quickly was shown to be something else, and that frustrated and disturbed me. A few episodes in i realized F4M is ME! Many of his awful relationship choices are mirror images of those I've made throughout my life. OF COURSE he made me uncomfortable! Who tf wants to look honestly in the mirror? lol
You consider that, especially in the case of F4M and Chian, to be "sorted out?" F4M, as much as I like him, is…
I get what you're saying and his youth can be a factor, but think of all the supposed adults who stay in horrible relationships and marriages, and who repeat destructive patterns with intimate partners all their lives. This is not just a teenage thing.
I don't "blame" him for his behavior, I understand it but wish someone would help him see what he is doing. And yet...he already DOES see what he's doing and he does it again anyway, with tears in his eyes.
The problem for me is I don't feel the script/plot has shown me WHY or WHAT about Chian he is attracted to. I found him creepy and weird looking on first sight. I loathe that weird, blank smile he puts on his face when asked something intimate and important. He's a weirdo. If F4M is attracted to his weirdness, the script did not show me how F4M became that kind of dude; nor did it show me why he is self-destructive. In the first episode's early scenes I found him delightful to watch but then things quickly got strange when he fixated on stalker/serial killer Chian.
Remember? He peed himself while sitting in that chair during that four-way drama queen show down in episode 6. The chair was shown sitting in the same place in ep. 7. It is upholstered. No way you could get that clean. :D
Okay. Y’all go off but hate to say that this is the reality for most gay men in a situationship that eventually…
Oh let's not...Kansan here, though I lived 25 years on the East coast before returning two years ago. I live in Lawrence (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) now. Got my grad degree from KU. Only town in the state I could bear to live in.
On the other hand, I'm a life-long OU football fan (not basketball, that's KU all the way), and attended OU for two of the best, drunkest years of my life. :D My sister lives in Norman.
I had a few naughty nights at OKC's Habana Inn back in the day too. :) I just checked and I'm glad to see it's still going strong. Have you committed crimes against nature there as well?
The most traumatizing scene of the entire series was the sight of that upholstered chair STILL in Bua's room days after the you-know-what happened. Stinky!
Okay. Y’all go off but hate to say that this is the reality for most gay men in a situationship that eventually…
Or...you could simply block me rather than bore me with your "I'm a black gay man so I know how ALL gay men all over the world, every single one of them, white and Asian and Thai and in Bangkok and everywhere else acts and behaves and treats other people and why they do it" schtick. You have the self awareness of a tick.
Now kindly step off and move on to the next series! Or better yet...block me...please.
Not a terrible flick, but definitely a missed opportunity. With some better writing, better directing, and a few extra takes to correct some cheesy acting, this could be a nice little serial killer film. More of the ML naked would have helped too.

OK...so they kissed, ONCE. Which is odd, especially in episode 7 when they so powerfully confessed to each other.
I don't think Bua/BB ever kissed either. Thoughts?
One last time: The show is PARTLY about consumerism. I never said it was ONLY about consumerism, as you keep pretending to be the case.
I don't take this personally, but nice try at misdirection.
Never mind.

Not familiar with Angles or the other places. HI is the one OKC spot I ever ventured to.
