The camera angle kiss scene looked fine to me. It's just right beautiful—not too much or too little. Relaxing…
Why would a clearly visible kiss un-relax you or be "overly obvious?" People kiss IRL a zillion times a day. But somehow we're expected to accept such ridiculous antics in BLs.

well its from a country where its still a taboo same as south korea or china.
Men have been sticking their tongues down each others' throats in Korean films for almost 20 years now. Yes, this is a BL, but still...
Korea is a bizarre country in a cultural sense. You have underage kpoppers oozing sex on stage in skimpy outfits while singing and dancing, but if one of them dares to date another human, it's a huge "scandal."
Most of the male idols are clearly gay and often act very gay on stage, but heads would explode if one of them actually came out.
Recreational drugs common in other countries-marijuana included-are treated as equal to Heroin; meanwhile, getting shit-faced on Soju and puking in gutters almost every night after work is considered part of doing business (Korea has the highest rate of alcoholism among developed nations).
Prostitution is considered taboo and evil publicly, but Korea has a thriving sex industry and a "Hostess" bar every five doors in entertainment districts.
Mental illness and mental health are taboo topics of discussion. Meanwhile, Korea has the highest rate of SUICIDE among developed nations.
Korea also has the highest rate of tobacco use/smoking among developed nations.

Becoming a celebrity there is taking your life in your hands. Should you make one mistake or even act remotely human you will be crucified relentlessly online and in the press, which is why so many Korean celebs kill themselves.

ALL of my favorite movies and many of my favorite BLs are Korean, which is why all of this bothers me so much. I sometimes feel I am contributing to the madness by watching their films and BLs.

That fake kiss is abomination! It's like cherry magic all over again. Other than that, everything is beautiful.
Cherry Magic was ridiculous with the fake or no kissing BS. That and the fact that the "cherry" was never actually indicated as having been "popped" was extremely annoying. I read that the older lead had it in his contract that he would not be shown kissing. In which case the director should have said. "next!"

I think that;s also my issue... not even that they did not show them kiss, but it was CLEAR the actors did not…
hmmm...mannequin kisses like that usually annoy tf out of me, but at least I found the head positions here to be believable. It's always retarded when the camera cuts from a kiss like that, as if it's 2016 again and I'm flashing back to the absurdly fake kisses in SOTUS. Maybe I missed it, but their heads looked believably positioned. I'm hoping for tongue swallowing later on.

Also, it's a very good sign that BL audiences are no longer putting up with this crap. Used to be, everyone was just happy to see a couple gay guys on screen.

There is tremendous chemistry between the leads here and the acting is feature film-worthy. I'm curious as to what BLs are at the top of your list?

After episode 5:

Taichi has become one of my all-time favorite BL characters. Kobayashi Toranosuke is remarkable in the role. He has managed to bring to life a boisterous, funny, often loud young man who is also quiet, thoughtful, and caring. That's not an easy feat to pull off, but KT has done it. I adore the way he takes time with his reactions and dialogue. We see him thinking before he speaks, or reacting to what he has heard or seen. He never over-acts, a big problem in many BLs, especially Thai. This is a thoroughly professional performance that nonetheless feels one hundred percent real.

Also this is one of the few BL characters going through this process of self-realization that I have truly believed is surprised and daunted by what is being revealed within himself regarding his sexuality at an age when almost all young men already know exactly what they're hot for. Most of the time, I don't believe that trope, but here I find myself on board. I look forward to watching KT's career going forward.

Nakazawa Motoki is likewise excellent as Kohei and has created a deeply sympathetic character with not a false note. The acting overall here is far above the BL norm.

On to other things...does anyone else think there was an awful lot made of the white "cream" all over Teichi's mouth when he ate the pastry with Kohei's mom? Foreshadowing perhaps? :D

Regarding the mom, she seems to know exactly what is going on and is being beautifully, and quietly, supportive. A beautiful thing to see. I like angsty, melodramatic coming-out stories where the parents are hideous homophobes because I like to suffer and feel pain while being entertained, but I find her approach moving, especially in the silent, subtle way her approval is being offered.

So...bravo so far! I'm liking this one a lot.

In what way? I think you should try watching at double speed; it makes the main character's slow speech easier…
lol How do you determine the "pace" of the show when you're watching at double speed?

"ableist..." hahahaha You HAVE to be an American girl, right? Thoroughly versed in the ways of the SJW cult?
I've got reason aplenty, Little Girl.

You're also the same know-nothing who spread a false story about a Thai idol because it felt good to do so.

I KNOW it's his nickname, brainiac. I know all about Thai nicknames, and "Barcode" is a lame one. The insult applies to the individual, not the entire nation and culture, though you'd like to make it appear otherwise.

You should teach yourself about relaxing your sphincter.

"ableist..." hahahaha You HAVE to be an American girl, right? Thoroughly versed in the ways of the SJW cult?
Nah, I'll stick with American Girl, otherwise known here on MDL as a Little Girl. Doesn't really matter where you're from. The mindset is the same. You seek to be offended for the sake of appearing socially aware and progressive. You seek out "homophobia" and "misogyny" where there is none because you think it makes you look and sound good.

I'm a gay man. I'm well aware that homophobia, misogyny, racism, classism, and all the rest exist IRL, but I don't pretend to see it where it doesn't exist. There is no homophobia or ableism in the writing of this show, but sure enough, you see it in your little head because you want an excuse to use terms like homophobia and ableism, which you think makes you seem super-progressive.

"Wait! You can't call me that! It's out of style now!" Cuts no ice with me. After all, policing other people's speech is one of the things you do most aggressively.

SJW means the same thing today as it did 15 years ago. Or should I just call you a "self-righteous, PC performance artist, more interested in promoting yourself as an advocate and defender of the oppressed than in making any actual difference in the real world." Oh wait...you've probably forbidden the use of "PC" too, right?

You're a cliche, by any name.

Leave me alone, SJW.

Tangoecho is precisely the kind of brain-dead, self-righteous Internet know-nothing who doesn't mind repeating rumors whether they know them to be true or not. It makes them feel better about themselves, so they go ahead and yak away. And at least in Korea, you get thousands of those types yakking away about an actor/idol they know little to nothing about and all of a sudden you've got another dead celebrity.

I have a feeling Tangoecho wouldn't be bothered a bit by that.

I pay a tiny bit of attention to Thai-pop on youtube because I am a huge fan of the Thai BLs I Told Sunset About You and I Promised You the Moon, after which the actor Bilkin focused on music/singing and I was curious to check him out in that role. He's a good singer, I guess, but not a great performer. It mystifies me how the Thai audiences turn out and go crazy for him at concerts.

As a side-effect of following Bilkin and seeing KinnPorsche, (started great, got lamer with each episode) though, I came across Jeff Satur's music. Now THERE is a man who can sing/dance/perform, much more so than Bilkin! Satur's songs and stage personae is sex on a stick. I like the darkness he chooses to portray in his music videos too. Enough with Thai fluff!

Billkin is incredibly stiff onstage and cannot dance to save his life. I feel badly for him when they try to make him do so anyway. :D

This is in reference to the Kinn/Porsche saga? It is so twisted that the second season of that very successful series was CANCELLED as a result of that writer/actor psychodrama. I still don't understand that bit. Hell, in the U.S. that publicity would be good for keeping the show in the news as it was under production. :D
