Great murder/mystery/thriller flick. Joseph Chang and Edward Chen are excellent in these roles, as both usually are. Joseph is looking good as he ages...:D
Hey! I just finished watching the movie and there is this scene at the end where we can see Liu Li Min deleting…
I don't mind fucked-up, ambiguous endings as long as they're earned, and I think this one was. We don't know if Edward Chen goes to prison again for killing the kid or if he gets off for self-defense; the film leaves that open, just as we don't actually see the anchor man/dad delete the file on the computer at the end either. The screen goes to black without showing us the computer screen. I think I heard a click, which might have been the mouse, but the fact that we weren't shown the file deleting on the computer screen leaves things wide open...SEQUEL!!!
Now...isn't that a lot more interesting than having everything tied up in a neat bow as an ending?
hey I might just be a bit stupid but can someone explain the ending/post-credit scene to me?
The bigger question is WTF do directors put important scenes AFTER the credits? I had turned the flick off and the only reason I went back to watch that scene was that I saw your comment here. I can't be the only one. I wonder how many people have seen this flick and have no idea about those last few minutes that explain everything...good god.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
ooh..name-calling now. Getting desperate, are we?
Yes, vengeful...absolutely so. What other type of a person would be thirsty for retribution 22 years after a non-violent crime for which the accused was punished, lost his career, and suffered public humiliation? Is that the behavior of a magnanimous person of generous spirit?
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
She was ABOVE the age of consent in Korea, which is 16, meaning she can legally have sex with anyone who is also over the age of 16. He was convicted of two counts of "Intercourse with the purpose of prostitution," which as I've said, makes her the prostitute.
The words "sexual assault," "rape," or "exploitation" appear nowhere in court documents.
Whatever the case, he was publicly humiliated, sentenced, did community service, couldn't find work for almost ten years, and paid the prostitute and her parents a hefty sum of money settled out of court when they sued him, which is what she was after all along.
Anyway, your opinion doesn't matter. He's a great actor and he's getting work regularly now. Losers like you throwing self-righteous hissy-fits on the Internet are irrelevant. You're just mad he hasn't killed himself.
I wish him 50 more years and great success in his career.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
The age of SEXUAL CONSENT, with any other person above the age of consent, be they 16 or 116 years old, is SIXTEEN. This young woman legally CHOSE to have sex with the 40-year-old and it's none of your business. The only question in court was whether or not he manipulated her. You keep bringing up things like "age of majority" that are irrelevant to the case.
I'd say she manipulated him as well, and call it even. But given your obsession with sex and your need to drive celebrities to suicide. I'd also say that, as a member of any society, you absolutely DO have a responsibility to move on once a convicted person has paid their legal debt to society. Otherwise, what is the point of rehabilitation and punishment?
The fact that LOTS of haters like you refuse to move on, doesn't mean the responsibility doesn't exist. It means you have an unhealthy need to regard yourself as righteous and above others.
Are you Korean? Your profile doesn't say. You sound Korean or like a member of the insane religious right here in the U.S., who call themselves Christians but behave as anything but that.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
You reply to facts with misdirection and total BS you're making up as you go. I see you're hitting all the sweet spots of the current, fad thinking that people under the age of 20 have no brains.
Could you please explain in detail the scientific process through which minors magically turn from children into adults at midnight on their 20th birthday; how their brains immediately begin to function in a brand new way at that moment? I haven't been able to find that information on the Internet.
I know from a long life of experience that there are plenty of immature, asshole adults, and lots of teenagers far more wise than their elders. The false white lines you draw around human beings according to their age keeps you feeling safe and all-knowing, but you're full of it.
But beyond ALL of this, even if all the crap you spew were true, remains the fact that this actor has paid his debt to society, was punished and publicly humiliated, and lost his acting career for nearly TEN years. He doesn't owe you or any other loser netizen anything. He has shown for a long time that he is thoroughly rehabilitated, but you can't let it go because your need to feel better about yourself by trashing other, flawed humans, is much greater than your responsibility as a fellow human to forgive and forget.
BTW, he was sued by the young woman who prostituted herself for her career, and her parents. The lawsuit was settled out of court. I'd guess she came out of things much richer than when she went in. Also, she said NOTHING until the acting gigs she was hoping for failed to materialized. She was a frustrated, angry prostitute, just like the ones whose johns skip out of the hotel room without paying the fee.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
Not that you'll stop, but I really want you to stop lying about this. He was charged, tried, and convicted of two counts of PROSTITUTION WITH A MINOR. One count was dropped because he hadn't yet learned her age when that encounter took place.
Note that word, "PROSTITUTION." There was no rape or sexual assault, nor was he ever charged with such. Again, you're a liar.
Legal age of "adulthood" doesn't matter in this case. The young woman chose to have sex with the actor was 17 at the time, and legally able to CONSENT to sex with anyone, of any age, she decides, which she did. The words "statutory rape" are not mentioned in police records or court documents. You're just making shit up and LYING to fit your victim narrative, but Google is your friend.
People under the age of 20 are not mentally retarded, as you would have it. Most are more than capable of managing their behavior and choices, which is why 18-year-olds are allowed to enlist in the Korean military. The idea that 18-year-olds are competent to handle and discharge rifles, grenade launchers, missile launchers; to drive tanks and pilot fighter jets, but incompetent to decide who gets to put a penis in their vagina is patently absurd. And yes, Korean WOMEN can enlist in the military at the age of 18, even if you think they're too stupid and child-like to do so.
The fact that the actor had sex with a person ABOVE the age of consent does NOT make him legally guilty of sexual assault. This is another point I wish you'd stop lying about. Just because YOU call it sexual assault does not make it so.
I understand that you are a disgusting "netizen"-type, and that facts, actual events, and legal definitions mean nothing to you. You are much more interested in self-righteous notions of "morality, " and never-ending condemnation of other humans more accomplished than yourself. You're mostly pissed off that the actor hasn't killed himself yet. In your twisted mind, him taking his life would justify your bullshit.
Again, I hope he lives decades more and stars in lots of successful films and dramas, just to twist your panties.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
No, we are NOT talking about "sexual assault." He was never charge, tried, or convicted of "sexual assault," yet you continue to lie and say that he was. Why do you do that?
The 17-year-old had sex with him because she thought it would land her a role in a film or drama production. She prostituted herself for her career. I doubt she's traumatized. If she is, it's only because he didn't follow through and get her a part.
"I take a neutral stance." lol BS You're calling this man a rapist when he was never even charged with such a thing. You are disgusting.
Oh, just because you SAY you haven't committed crimes, I"m to believe that? Why? I"ll be like you and assume you HAVE committed crimes.
From a legal standpoint, this actor has lived a flawless life for 22 years. Get off his back.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
AGE OF CONSENT in Korea is SIXTEEN, as it was in 2002. The ages of sexual consent and legal adulthood are two entirely different things..."bro." Educate yourself before writing dumb things.
He was convicted of two counts of participating in PROSTITUTION, which means she was technically a prostitute. She sold her body for what she hoped would be a role in a film/drama. Why wasn't she charged and tried for this?
What's disgusting is MDLers constantly calling celebrities "rapists" who were never charged, tried, or convicted of any such crime. I see it here all the time. It's a standard tactic of the Psycho Korean Celeb/Fan Suicide Machine that has done a great job of regularly killing off Korean entertainers over the last 25 years. You killed Lee Sun Kyun just five months ago.
Get over yourself. He didn't "rape" anyone, which makes you a liar. The 17-year-old prostitute knew exactly what…
You're a hateful, self-righteous dolt, the kind who continue to harass and trash celebrities until they kill themselves. As a proud member of the Psycho Korean Celeb/Fan Suicide Machine, you should be proud.
The fact that you are unable to spell out words like SEXUAL ASSAULT, RAPE, SEX, ETC., makes it clear you have severe issues surrounding the issue of SEX.
Oh, why are you attacking and condemning someone "you don't know?" He's lived an honest life for 22 years. It's far past time you got a life of your own.
Highly recommended.
9/10
Now...isn't that a lot more interesting than having everything tied up in a neat bow as an ending?
Maybe try some Thai Lakorns and BLs with the hysterical, over-acting. Maybe that would work for you.
Yes, vengeful...absolutely so. What other type of a person would be thirsty for retribution 22 years after a non-violent crime for which the accused was punished, lost his career, and suffered public humiliation? Is that the behavior of a magnanimous person of generous spirit?
