My understanding is that the manga this is based on was much smuttier. Sanitizing the source material is another problem common to BL, though in many, if not most, cases, it HAS to be cleaned up to make it onto the air. That said, they often go way beyond what's necessary to clear that hurdle, which changes the character and leads to what we're seeing here.

I am enjoying the show, but I also agree with every point you made here. Just in this last episode, I wondered why Ai, who is seemingly a sweet, horny little thing, is constantly telling our hot CEO that it's too public, or it's too late, or he's already had a shower, etc. My impression of the character is that he wouldn't care about any of those things. The way he's played here is giving Thai hot-slut-to-coy-maiden vibes, which tends to happen after the MC has sex. Suddenly, they're a frigid 1950s American housewife.

I haven't read the manga, but I know what you mean. I've thought during the last two episodes that Ai was giving the old BL trope of a bottom suddenly becoming a coy maiden once he got laid, and that doesn't seem at all like who Ai is.

Rather than scrambling to write incoherent rants more properly located inside a Queer Studies 101 term paper out of a misplaced sense of heroism, your energy would be better spent confronting the very real and escalating possibility that you're a sad wannabe of some sort.
