If I want to see a political thriller, I will seek out an adequately financed series or feature film along those lines. If I want to see a BL or gay-themed thriller, I will seek out the same.
If I want to watch a mid-budget series with a closeted gay attraction that barely registers and a hilariously lame political/crime plot, along with cheesy acting, bad direction, and all the other cliches of a bad lakorn, I will watch this show. Oh, wait...that won't happen because I just dropped it.
That, right there, is some seriously messed-up sado-masochistic shit going down. One rubbing his ex's face in pain, and the ex all too eager to let him do it.
Good acting overall, naturalistic. There was definitely tension.
The long opening scene, with the two MCs in the car, was good. They felt like real people, and the acting was fine. I was engaged. Sadly, from there on, it was downhill. Soon it was all the usual, stereotypical, Pinoy gay film acting styles, chewing scenery, screeching fag hags, and worst of all, boredom.
I marked this "completed," but in truth, I skipped ahead in ten-minute increments after that first scene.
Any "straight" guy who falls this easily for a fem dude wasn't "straight" to begin with.
I could be wrong, but is there a gay stereotype or two they might have left out so far? :) Who introduces themselves like this?: "Hi, I'm _______________, I'm a drag queen." (duh) "Hi, I'm _______________, I'm a male-to-female transexual." (well, alrighty then.) "Hi, I'm _______________. I'm bisexual." (Who asked?)
I suppose the casting was intended to capture the long, languid look of whatever Manga characters these people are based on, but I often feel I'm watching a drama whose MCs are lipstick Lesbians.
Finally, at the end of four episodes, something happened.
A few cute moments among content that is 95% rehashed tropes/cringe cliches we've seen 174 times before. Squealing fangirls, "the four kings," rolling on top of a crush in the night, lol, Perfect fluff and nonsense for the cotton candy/rainbows/unicorns/glitter Little Girls kicking their feet in comments below.
I continue watching for Hioki. Something about him is hella attractive to me.
Wheeererrrrrrrrre is Kukuchi? I'm convinced he is Mob's destiny.
hmmm....

Thanks for the tip.
I just watched and enjoyed it. The ending put a big smile on my face. :)

Loved the film. It needs another couple of watches to see all of what's going on here, but I'm there for it.
