I initially started watching on dramacool, but those yellow subs were still bad in my opinion. Then I realised there were better subs here, a godsend; followed by chatgp, then we were left floating for awhile waiting for subs. When I couldn't hold myself back anymore, I finally tried the goddamn the machine translation, but within the first few lines and I was 'I'm done'. I'm going at this blind, so I just watched without subtitles for like 10 eps. Lol, I didn't make it so far to encounter the p-word and s-word. Not long after I found open subtitles and the rest is history! The machine trans just pulled me out of enjoying the show, that I rather not have any XD All their 'intimate' scenes, I could understand, even without eng subs, so that is an advantage I had

You've worked hard these past weeks, thank you <3 I've seen you orbiting around this chat non-stop, helping newcomers with their questions. When I hopped into the train, the decent eng subs were around 40, I watched that non-stop. Then by some goddam miracle, found out that open subtitles had the rest of the subs, cuz that machine translation was god awful. It helped that I also have a decent understanding of some mandarin, though when they were explaining the games, I had my confused face on.

I started around end of Feb. After finishing, it has been unbearable. It basically kickstarted this downward spiral (pun intented) of watching other bls to occupy my mind, since people were just started to notice spirealm.

I could have kind of reluctantly accepted that ending, if they gave us a hug for their reunion, instead of a handshake. Throw us a little breadcrumb after all that sadness~ XZG has such nice voice! I also heard a version of 'I know by XZG' and it hits different from Gao Jiayi. RNZ singing to us :D

This is the first drama I've actively keep looking and commenting in the chats. Our MLs are so nice and protective of each other, that I just can't help praising them. The vibe and the people here are also great, that it feels like a great community to be a part of. And we all want the same thing, for this drama to get it dues :D

I try to get my fix with fanfiction, but there's barely any spirealm fanfictions out here in english. I also attempted watching other bl series, but none are ever going to top spirealm. Right now, I just get joy watching other people get into spirealm, so I'm not so miserable alone.

A first time viewer that is looking at the spirealm poster in iQiyi will be so perplexed about what the poster is supposed to mean, they are going to be like 'what am I to take from this empty corridor' ' is this drama interesting, there's nothing in the poster' XD

After that ending in the series, I went straight to the novel's ending. It was a sigh of relief of how happy I was. They were separated for like a year (not a whole lifetime), RNZ is real and alive in the real world, his love for acting inside the door is now also something he's doing in the real world. LJS has enough money to support both him and RNZ, but he encourages RNZ to find something he likes to do, now that the 12th door door is permanently closed and he can't go inside anymore. So RNZ is pulling shenanigans such as pranking a new recruit that has crush on him (it's really funny, he's dragged Lingling into it). For his 1st drama, his acting and goods looks are so good that the fans and the director want him to take up more roles, but he's just doing it for fun. If it affects his time with LJS, he's like 'I'm out bitches' lol Also, LJS has a roleplay kink when it comes to RNZ and RNZ likes to leave hickeys on LJS's neck.

Chemistry like that is rare, I really want another 'BL' of them together. If they could be like Thailand and use keep pairing up for other dramas, that would be amazing.

How do we move on from a masterpiece? The answer is we don't, cuz nothing out there can top this atm. I think the fact that they teased the hell out of us with those dialogues and stares with no follow up, it drove us crazy from hunger/ thirst (you name it). I'm just so unsatisfied with that ending, a goddamn handshake in a fake world, after a long separation :'(

Personally, I think you should watch the series first, you get the visuals and become more easily engaged with the story. You should definitely not do both at the same time, it will become confusing, since their settings are a bit different (one is gaming, another is supernatural). After you finish the series, go for the novel, there's actual intimacy between our couple there, instead of just words and some actions (it's all the censor's fault). And if you start the series, you can hop into the hype together with us.
