I like to think there are some metaphors or symbolism to the piggyback scene at the end. My english is not good…
Thanks for the comment. I should watch it again, but I had a different impression about the ending. The went to the memorable place, but it was not like that in their childhood at all. It might mean that their love to each other belonged to those days; now they can't do that way anymore. Also, the general feeling of those final moments was sad, so all in all, I was thinking that they decided to end the relationship. However, I didn't take their decision seriously. They are still really young, so can change their decision easily. The mere fact that they live in the same room and bad in enough to make any goodbye decision meaningless. So, all in all, to me, the movie just shows the beginning of their relationship, lots of things will come. I also checked the anime version. That covers maybe 10 or 15 years of their life. Anyway, your interpretation can be more accurate, I should watch it again.
Maybe she is not a lovable person, maybe she is arrogant and many other bad things, but I don't get this story. She has problems, so take drugs. She hurts herself, not anyone else. It's like someone commits suicide and when she is rescued, they arrest her because of hurting herself.
Some people say it's sad. I'm not sure. It's about teenagers who are not supposed to find an ideal love in their first attempts. They experience things and more often than not, the experience is painful. The movie wants to show this, the real life. And nothing really sad happens in this movie. They are young, and can move one. No need to worry too much about them.
