Kiss Sixth Sense! It's not finished airing but the romance is mature, the kisses are fire, and episode 10 just had a bed scene, which they've shown parts of from the beginning.
The timer on this show's page really annoys me and gets me all excited for nothing. I keep forgetting that when it says it will air and when it actually airs are two different things.
Following are some "shower thoughts" about this drama, and speculation on some of the more questionable personality…
- Sometimes I feel the 'childhood connection' trope is over-used to create immediate feelings between adults without needing the time and episodes to create those bonds from scratch. If it's done right it feels natural and not too forced, and only time will tell how this drama manages to make it work since you can tell they're leading up to it. With how short this drama is, it doesn't surprise me they they use it as a way to create history between the leads, but the years of their working relationship already built a strong connection between them that is easily seen by the viewers.
- Speaking of childhood connections, it feels like they're trying to make 'fate' be a huge reason for the ML and FL to be together. The way they are showing the FL's visions as always negative when with anyone but the ML, even if these visions have recently been proven to be skewed, leading to misunderstanding what she's seeing. Her visions with the ML are always either incidental (dropping and breaking a phone, being in the field with the car, etc) or positive (happy interactions, intimacy, etc). Plus the ML's sensory issues are calmer around her and only her. Basically her visions only lead her away from other people and towards the ML, while the ML is physically incapable of being with any person but the FL.
- The FL has been in relationships in the past, including a long-term one that came close to marriage, so her lack of communication skills in the last 2 episodes seems incredibly out of character, especially when you consider her career that relies on communication skills to succeed. They're portraying her as successful and competent, so I'm not sure how they will explain her inability to have a conversation with the ML, especially when you consider how willing she is to meet up and have conversations with the SML about their long-over relationship. I just REALLY hope the ML and FL sort out their feelings and stop avoiding each other. For myself, these last 2 episodes were super frustrating, and watching all the misunderstandings made my blood boil a little since I know one single conversation could make them all go away. I understand the ML - he's afraid of her knowing he can her what she's saying or doing from so far away. He's very much aware of all the bad things she said about him in the past, and when SHE knows that HE knows it will create a new dynamic between the two of them that will rely on forgiveness and acceptance after getting over the embarrassment. But at this point the lack of communication is creating more distance than could be the result of knowing the truth.
I skipped FL's older sister's plotline from ep 5 bc it was just irritating me. Once I fast-forwarded all her scenes,…
I also skipped a lot (but not all) of her scenes. I found her irritating and I kept getting second-hand embarrassment from her interactions with men, and how she treated her family bothered me.
Besides the fact that I really liked the story you can also easily identify with the characters. I'm sure that…
"Repetitive relationships you jump into to find something to love about yourself, only to come out of them even more sure of how unattractive you truly are" was the one that completely destroyed me. When Mi Jung dropped that line my whole body went up in goosebumps and I had to pause the show to digest it fully.
Maybe because I don't read web novels at all I can say this, but I LOVE THIS SHOW. So far it's ticking all my boxes, and it's lovely to see an "older" relatable couple, rather than all these teenage youth dramas about first love. Don't get me wrong, those are nice too, but as someone in my 30's it's also refreshing to see people find love after they've moved out of the young and naïve phase of their life. A competent and strong career woman is my favourite FL. I wish I hadn't started this as it's airing. Waiting for new episodes is PAINFUL.
OMG the cringe is real. I love the ML (Ding Yu Xi), but the second-hand embarrassment from the FL's antics and mannerisms are making this really hard to watch.
My "On Hold" list has 66 shows, while my "Dropped" has only 3. A drama has to REALLY bother me to warrant a move to the Dropped pile. Generally I step away from a drama mid-watch because the mood of the show is no longer what I need. I fluctuate between needing 'emotionally heavy' and 'light and fluffy' shows rapidly, so when my mood shifts mid-watch I'll put a show on hold and find something that is more appealing. Sometimes I can watch 4-6 sweet and fluffy shows back to back, sometimes I need to get hit hard and heavy by the feels one after another. The problem I have after is that I struggle to go back and restart the show I put on hold when the mood switched. I can have the intention to begin where I left off, but then I'll see a fan edit of a different show that really appeals to me and NEED to start it instead. Or I will see a glowing review for something that ticks all the boxes I'm craving at that particular time. Sometimes I'm just tired of "female chases male first" and need to browse the "male chases female first" to scratch that particular itch.
Wait, I just see the tags and there isn't "romance". Is it true?
It has a "slight romance" tag.... which is true. I just finished it and the plot is 98% investing plot, slice of life, and character development. The little crumbs of romance were few and far between. If romance is what you're looking for right now then this one isn't the one to watch. But this had some great character development and a great female-driven plot with some twists and turns that will surprise you.
OH MY GOD. In my years of watching CDramas and KDramas I don't think I have ever hated a character THIS MUCH. The FL's mother is the most narcissistic, controlling, guilt-tripper EVER. Even if she has a redemption arc I think I'll still hate her guts, because as it stands in episode 14 I'm actually yelling at my screen in white-hot rage.
I’m at work on my supper break flooding my office with tears. Maybe I should have held off on episode 24 until…
I feel that! I said “where can I find one of him?” Out loud probably 100 times as I binge-watched the show. On her last trip back when the events became altered and she was so mean to him I cried SO much, especially when you could see how hurt he was. I kept yelling at my screen “NO! Stop it! You can’t be mean to someone that perfect!”
I’m not sure if I was lucky or unlucky for this, but I watched it going in blind with no spoilers or expectations other than knowing it had a very high rating.
I just finished “The Sound Of Magic” before this, which is also quite heavy… I’m due for some super sweet ultra-fluffy cuteness now. My soul feels heavy after doing those two shows back-to-back.
Great article, Shiro. I love your description of Full Fridge syndrome! I usually rewatch things guaranteed to…
I've re-watched Go Ho’s Starry Night a few times as well! It's a quick watch and has all the best fluff.... and Kim Young Kwang is gorgeous and fantastic to watch be all jealous and angsty.
