I don't know if you noticed, but the ice cream shop in the mall where they first saw each other right before the collapse was called "Rainy Shine". Also , I found 'Rain Or Shine' very fitting as a title because it's an idiom that means that something will happen no matter what the circumstances are. It can also be compared to the emotions tied to the weather... rain = sadness, and shine = happiness. The story focused on the healing of their guilt, sadness, and trauma, so as Sang Man said "To someone who doesn't know darkness, there's no light for him either."

I haven't ugly-cried during a final episode in a LONG time, but this show wrecked me. The rooftop scene will live in my memory rent-free for a VERY long time.

I don't know if I didn't notice when they talked about it, but why did Gang Doo borrow all that money when he was younger? And did his mom die before or after the building collapse? I'm a little foggy on some parts of the timeline.

I finished Youth (https://kisskh.at/28322-youth) right before I started this drama (currently on episode 9) and they're giving me similar vibes. Youth has a mediocre rating but the story and the characters absolutely blew me away. The ML has usurped all my previously adored ML's and has taken the top spot. I wonder how the ML in Our Secret will stack up in the end!

This drama is sadly not very well known or popular. It's such a pity because the cinematography in it is absolutely gorgeous. This page is lacking pictures, so I'm going to add some to show just how gorgeous the scenes are. The actors did such a great job with the facial expressions, and some scenes don't even need words because their faces say it all.

Oh man. I struggled with this show. I finished it because it was funny and had it’s sweet moments, BUT there were SO MANY unanswered questions, happenings that made no sense, and a rushed feel to the final 10 episodes. Maybe I’m not made for the historical or Xianxia genres because none of this story made any sense to me at all. I’ll be sticking to the modern shows if this is a good example of what to expect from Xianxia offerings.

This show gets a 10/10 for sentimentality and ALL THE FEELS. Was it a perfect story? no. Were there plot holes? yes. But I stayed up all day and all night to watch it because I couldn't help but get attached to the ML and his unbelievably fantastic personality. ALSO his voice. No man should ever have a voice that sounds that amazing. He was so honest to himself about his feelings for the FL although he wasn't as forthcoming to her about them. He always supported and helped her with everything, even when she wasn't aware he was doing it, and he knew he wouldn't get anything out of it. Someone in a review called him a "stalker", but I never saw his actions the same. He was protective and adamant in his feelings, but he never forced himself or them onto her. Very few times has a ML made me feel so much for him.

Totally agree. Same thing happened to Kim Ji soo, just when he was taking his career off.
Point 1 - I don't have any bias for Ji Soo. I have only ever watched a single drama with him in it and have no preference for him whatsoever. I dislike the SK entertainment industry and some fans for protecting certain celebrities while completely abandoning others, and prefer to view *most* scandals with an unbiased eye (scandals like Burning Sun excluded)

Point 2 - "What I read about Ji Soo's case is the later and he has to pay/payed the price." Is this not mentioning something about the treatment of bullies? Does this not call for his punishment? If this isn't hope for some kind of punishment then by all means.... explain what else it's supposed to mean.

Point 3 - You just made my point, by saying that hurt people hurt people, and that you don't know his past. He may have been more hurt than those he hurt. At this point it sounds like your ANTI-bias overshadows any possible reasoning skills and ability to objectively understand a topic.

Point 4 - How do you KNOW he didn't start treatment for it long ago? Of that he ignored it? They don't make that public knowledge for fear of repercussions exactly like this. Maybe that's why there are no complaints of him being a bully as an adult. Or maybe he just grew out of his hurt and pain and found his own way to be happy and not cause harm to others.

Point 5 - Your ability to understand professionalism seems underdeveloped so I won't assume you understand mental health either. Nor will I assume you understand that a role-model can work many ways, not just by being completely scandal free, but also by showing youth that they can have a past they are ashamed of, but rise above it as adults. The world isn't black and white. The shades of grey are limitless.

I decline to reply to you any other way but publicly since your attempt to demean my career and education was also public. I, too, am finished trying to explain the basics of empathy to a brick wall.

I re-read your response a few times over the last couple days, had decided not to reply, but then changed my mind. I'll preface this by saying I work in mental health, and that I specialize in trauma and grief counselling, so I'm going to give you a response based on what I've been trained on the job and through my education. I will also add that from around grade 6 until graduation I was bullied mercilessly, and for 3 years in University I was in a relationship with a man that was physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive. I have first-hand experience of being a victim of bullying in many forms and I know EXACTLY how it can affect you through your life. I still wouldn't wish the price Ji Soo paid on my own bullies. As adults most people grow, learn from their mistakes, and move on. If there were rumors that Ji Soo was a bully on set, that he was cruel to his co-stars or his crew members or treated people poorly, I would agree that he paid the proper price. All the accusations were from his youth, so he obviously grew as a person and learned from his past wrongdoings.

The brains ability to differentiate between right and wrong is severely impaired by multiple factors, especially if trauma is present early in development. The statement "Hurt people hurt people" (those in pain themselves are more likely to inflict it upon others) is INCREDIBLY true in young adults. Factors at home like divorce, neglect, abuse, absence, distance, and distrust can skew how a child or teen views the world. They tend to lash out because they live in a condition that forces their brain to be in a constant "fight or flight" mode. There are also neurodevelopmental deficits that can occur which impact this as well. A teen with ADHD can lack impulse control, can have emotional dysregulation, and usually struggles with self-esteem issues. Add these factors together with a spike in hormones and you can get a teen that becomes a bully. Their inability to manage their emotions comes from the brain's lack of dopamine. The fault lies with brain chemistry rather than a lack of "learning that it's not ok". Is the child/teen at fault for these factors? does a poor home life or a chemical imbalance as a child mean that they are automatically a bad person as an adult? Lets say your dog pooped on the floor when it was a puppy. Is it then ok to yell at it and punish it years later? Celebrities live in the spotlight, but they still deserve a private life. They would never tell us if they experienced trauma as a child, or if they are diagnosed with ADHD. These things still have stigma attached to them. They would likely do exactly as Ji Soo did and issue an apology, promise to self-reflect, then join the military. Only he will know exactly why he did the things he did, so assuming it's bad character is short-sighted and cruel.

School bullying should not be ignored, but understanding WHY it happens is more important than just punishing the bully. There is ALWAYS a reason why that child is acting that way, so we need to put more effort into helping and healing rather than punishing them as this only conditions them to believe that pain causes pain, and that their actions are natural. Also, sociopathy is INCREDIBLY rare, only occurring in 0.2-3.3% of the general population.

Cancel culture is trash.
Most self-righteous anti-fans are also trash (and hypocrites).

That being said, Kim Seon Ho is a lovely and talented actor. Even if his scandal hadn't been proven false I would still respect his skill and ability, and I would continue to watch anything he made. His private life can be anything he wants it to be, and should be left as such. Sadly, his ex felt that publicizing their dirty laundry was appropriate. This invited the public into a very private event that occurred in his life, and now people think they have the right to form opinions about it. How would these people feel if the worst parts of their lives were plastered all over news sites and social media? Would they be indignant that total strangers made snap decisions about their personality based on a hastily written tabloid? Would they feel wronged because their lives and careers were ruined by public opinion on a very personal event? Would they handle it with as much grace and poise as Kim Seon Ho did?

Celebrities are people, and people are fallible.

Actors like Ji Soo get their adult lives and careers destroyed for things they did as CHILDREN. The male brain doesn't finish growing and building neural synapses until 25 years old. Many of the juvenile things they do are because of an under-developed brain. I consider myself to be a good person, but I could be accused of being a "bully" at times when I was young if someone didn't know the context of my words or actions. People are so quick to judge a Korean or Chinese celebrity's actions and condemn them, but they're just as guilty of making mistakes. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

I love a good fluffy story that has no long, drawn out issues like a hateful mother-in-law or a conniving second female lead. Don't get me wrong, the issues existed in this, but they weren't drug out into eternity. Highly refreshing! I wasn't expecting to love Darren Chen but alas.... He made my heart happy. I'll also say, during my time watching Kdramas and Cdramas I've come across some really OVERT and IRRITATING product placement (looking at you specifically, Cdramas >.>), but at the end of this series I can't think of a single product that was over-hyped or over-shown. If it DID have product placement it was done seamlessly. All-in-all, while this wasn't top-notch television, it definitely deserves some recognition for being a fun, fluffy, and interesting (although tropey and cliché) story.

Chief Hong is a gift that we all wish we could receive. He's intelligent, hard-working, talented, kind, thoughtful, romantic, honest, straight-forward, and too pure for this earth. His smile and those dimples could make a grown-ass woman's heart beat a little faster (namely mine). He's lived his life blaming himself for the deaths of the people he loves, and trying his best to atone for it through his work and his abilities. He got blamed for events that were not his fault, that were not his responsibility, and made the best of his life despite his inner turmoil. We all should be more like Chief Hong.

Wow. Watching Lee Ji Hoon in this is like a REVELATION. His acting ability is giving me chills. The skill in which he transforms Jung Jae Hyuk from an earnest first love into something else entirely has me floored. The emotions I feel during his scenes are all over the map because he just appears so raw and exposed.

This was my first opinion as well. I'm hoping they eventually become tolerable because the first few episodes has me repeatedly saying "girl, get you some new friends STAT and drop these toxic sewage people YESTERDAY"

I truly adored this show. It is the only one this year that I find my mind goes back to and ponders some of the deeper meanings and interactions. So much is left to the viewers interpretation rather than given hard and fast reasons. Sometimes I had to pause and re-read the subtitles a few times to really appreciate the symbolism behind what they were saying. This show isn't a fluffy and breezy drama, although it does have its fluffy moments. The real heart of this drama is in the character development and the messages about loss, life, and being your authentic self.
