Title Good Bye, My Princess Spoiler
Gu Jian was seriously annoying. He was wishy washy and always made the wrong choice at the wrong time. One of…
Omg finally i saw a comment on this!

I was bawling my eyes out when GuJian died. And it totally wasn't because of GJ physical death, but cause I can feel how LCY is dying emotionally. It must have broke him sooo bad. 😭😭 soo angry at how insignificant GJ view his comradeship with LCY and General Pei, and he still dare to selfishly play the victim+hero card 🀬

Is this drama dragged out, I've only watched 15 episodes so far.
It doesn't feel too draggy to me. Didnt fast forward at all except for characters that I'm extremely annoyed with towards the last 10ep πŸ˜…

Title The Veil
was just curious but for the ones that were watching while the drama was airing, did you find that you didn't…
I'm the binger-type. Learned throughout my kdrama experience that my brain is quite sensitive towards these 2 things (they will kill my overall feels for the drama). (1) watch it ongoing - cause I'm the type who will forgot what happened aft a few days (2) listening to the ost before watching - i need to associate the happenings with the music, so it doesnt help if my brain has alrdy associated that particular ost with my other daily activities.

Now back to The Veil, I just finished it - binged in 4 days. I truly enjoyed it as a whole, from the storyline to the acting to the OST. Confusion wise, I cant say that I'm free from that. Especially when it comes to the names. There's too many characters' names that matter for me to be able to catch up with. but I just went on with it. Didnt rewatch any parts, but still able to enjoy it and understand the whole storyline. Though it did came off as a quite intense drama for me to binge nonstop - I do need a breather from time to time.

I guess different people have different preferences. I would recommend you to go with what suits you best. There will definitely be 'mistakes' here and there while you figure out your best drama preferences, so that's fine. Mine came with 'lots of watching & rewatching every single week with King2Hearts' and 'a totally ruined emotional experience when the music play in Scarlet Heart' XD

Top-notch chemistry & acting πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ definitely a must watch!
And I'm glad i totally misunderstood the ending πŸ˜‚ I thought she wrote the book BASED on her body switch experience. Until I read the comments here that I realized it meant that the whole drama was her book's plot πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ no wonder something feels off

Obviously he doesn’t stay that way or the drama wouldn’t be on this list.
oh please do :)
his character has one of the best character development I've watched so far. and their relationship development too (aft they got tgt) - its a relationship done right (psychologically speaking)

yeah I feel like dropping it from how stupid it is...did you end up finishing it?
Yup I did, with lots of fast-forwarding & 1.5-2x speed.
Started this for Kim Jae Wook, so forced myself to finish this for his screen time too. Would have dropped it otherwise.

Wait. I'm confused. Why do the comments written here is as if Season 1 ended with a cliffhanger?

I personally felt that it ended with a happy ending. Yes maybe a slight cliffhanger, but only to tell us that "hey, the characters are gonna continue living their life like this" - its not an ending that needed a Season 2 (just like if a romcom end with a marriage proposal, we can leave their wedding and marriage life to our imagination).
If they gonna make a Season 2, I'm more than happy to embrace it. But if they dont, it's fine too cause the storyline is complete.

And yes, I'm not denying that some other Kdramas have been following the US show format, ended with actual cliffhanger endings and incomplete stories like Arthdal Chronicles, Kingdom & Sweet Home.
But Taxi Driver is definitely not one of those in my opinion.

Started this thinking that since there are 4 seasons, it must be really really good. But OMG. I've never seen…
Among many other dumb scenes....
The episode where they raid the center who exploit the homeless' organs... How is it that both officers can squat down and comfort the little girl when the leader is still at loose. It doesnt make sense that both of them let their guard down when they definitely chase him to that room? They can easily get attacked from the back - which I wished actually happened cause that is just too frustrating to watch.

Finally watched this. In summary....
- If you want a feel good, light drama to watch = this is for you
- If you're looking for a good character development or a storyline that brings you through an emotional rollercoaster with the characters = this is not for you

Thank you for writing this article. It is very brave and courageous of you. Not everyone is able to open up and talk about themselves to others.
First of all, sorry if the comment is a bit too long.
Reading this article has made me think of the deeper reasons for my drama genre preference. Maybe, all of us use dramas to escape from our own reality and to cope with emotions that we're uncomfortable with, whether we are aware of them or not. And just like you mentioned, it is totally fine, cause it is a functional coping mechanism for us.

For myself, especially lately, I keep watching 'happy chick-flick romance' dramas like Love O2O - to escape from the constant negative news around us now. I'm also rewatching dramas more than watching new ones - cause it gives me a sense of security in knowing the future of the drama, allowing me to escape the insecurity of my own future and ability to resume normal daily life.
Then, because I used to think to myself that crying because I'm sad is not acceptable, but crying for a character in a drama seems fine. There will be days when I turn to 'melodramas' when I am feeling extra down and need a reason to cry out my inner sadness. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes & Something In The Rain is definitely a good one for me. (p.s. now I've accepted that it's okay to cry, even without a drama - had a therapist point that out to me)

When you say you "didn't avoid topics that hit too close to home"... wow, how are you able to do that? That sounds like an unattainable level of courage to me. Avoidance has always been my to-go-to reaction to difficult topics. For example, I heard that Sky Castle is about overcontrolling mothers, a sensitive topic for me, and just thinking about me watching it causes some anxiety already. Though I do hope there will be a day where I will be able to watch and enjoy it as any other drama, just maybe not now...? XD

Lastly... I may not know you personally, and I may not know what exactly you have gone through in life. But I would like to say that I'm very very proud of you. Most of us know that the journey to start seeking therapy itself is not easy. But to be able to go through and persevere the therapy process itself, and to bring yourself to continue going to session after session is a whole level of hard work too! :)

Title Find Yourself Spoiler
ye lu ming is very annoying :/
He sure is. Though I'm glad he managed to redeem himself at the end. Cause if we try to think in his perspective, deep down he's probably as desperate to settle down as others too especially due to the pressures from his family. Thus resulting in the wrong choices that he made.

On the side note, I really like their chemistry as friends.

Nothing can beat 1 litre of tears in terms of how much tears I shed for a drama. That drama is tragic from start to end TT_TT

And sometimes, I rather they end tragically than to have a happy but unrealistic ending. At least it'll make me feel satisfied in the long run! (aft I survived through the depressing phase) XD
Most memorable tragic endings for me: Sign, The Last Empress.

So, i'm currently on episode 6, and i think so far is ok, i have noticed some problems with the edition and the…
It starts to get better after ep10 onwards for me.
I suffered through ep5-9, wondering if this is just another overrated drama too - coz the storyline and pacing comes abit too slow and boring in my opinion. But it starts to pick up for the last few episodes.

Though overall i still wouldnt call it a masterpiece. Maybe because i prefer dramas with good character development, and this one didnt really satisfy that need.

Something I've learned throughout the drama...

- Pain doesn't mean just physical pain. Not feeling any pain doesn't mean they are not in pain.
- A person who wasn't experiencing the same 'pain' as you doesn't mean they are not worthy of empathizing with your sufferings
- Being vulnerable to another makes the relationship more meaningful
- You might feel guilty about burdening the other with your pain, but remember that the other person chose to be there for you. So show them that you're grateful to them.
