Yes, I hope so too! Love his voice as well! At first, I didn’t like him especially when he was in Hong Kong! His acting wasn’t so good (to me) back then. He was also surrounded by gossips and rumors! But he has been better, less rumors, better skills! I’m happy that more people are paying attention to him now! Few years back, I felt like I was one of very few people outside China knew about this actor! I feel much less lonely now 😆

I don’t think Journey of Chong Zi is that great either but I’m glad he has gathered more fans because of the series! Hopefully Royal Rumors will not be edited as terribly as Chong Zi was! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻!

I think because people know his age, they all say that he is old. But I don’t think he looks old, he just has a mature but charming look, which I prefer more for my male lead.

Yes, the scene, when Chong Zi (second life) is at the pond talking to a fish and LYF asks her why she doesn’t go to bed, was cut hastily! LYF is wearing his night gown and I was ready for an intimate moment, but of course the scene was deleted 😭! I think Tencent cut many scenes “just in case”, even before they sent the show out for censorship. I don’t know why they had to rush to get the show licensed. But my speculation is there may be more restrictions in the future. So if they didn’t get the series out now, it could never been aired.

Although the writers are not completely innocent, to me a big part of the problems of the series is the editing! The production team was so afraid that the series could not be aired. They chopped as many scenes as possible! We can clearly see incomplete scenes throughout the show. Fans of both main leads in China have complained that many scenes didn’t get to be on air. The censorship laws in China are getting very strict in recent years. In Gossip High, the main leads don’t kiss because the actress was under 18 at the time. I never knew that a person needed to be 18 to kiss someone! I even heard that it’s hard to make ghost series/ movies in China now, since it’s considered superstition! I understand that very country has its own laws and rules, and I respect that but I think these restrictions will hurt the industry as a whole in the long run. They will discourage people, especially writers, to think out of the box.
However I may be wrong! I don’t live in China to know for sure if audiences there enjoy these censorship rules.

Haha!😁 I’m happy as well! It’s not my first time going through his previous works. When I rewatch his shows, I just skip everything and go straight to his parts. I love to see him in different roles. I think he is one of few actors that take on a wide range of roles.

I totally see your point! I still think CZ trusts LYF and she lives in a world of magic. She claims she loves him but doesn’t realize his behavior is strange? If he wanted to torture her, he didn’t need to wait until then. I feel that LYF puts a lot of more effort (albeit he is greedy!! Refuses to compromise, is indecisive at time) in their relationship. Again I believe the writers wanted to whitewash the ml so much that they created the misunderstanding between the leads instead of LYF actually hurting CZ. My theory is that the writers purposely created CZ as a weak girl so they could highlight ML. I’m not a fan of this!

I so agree with you on her being a whiny and annoying girl. Even now as a demon, she can’t be strong and tough! I felt sorry for her at some points but now I feel bad for LYF as the story will make him go through hell to win her back. What he sees in her is beyond me!

No worries! They should look like father and daughter at first! I wish they would let a 10 year old girl play the young Chong Zi and Yang Chao Yue play the older version. It would put things in better perspective.

Besides lazy writing and weak plot, I hate that they change the ml from the original story. They were busy making him likeable, and forgot to make everything else sensible! And I may get yelled at by saying this but I dislike Chong Zi (not the actress, even though she can’t act!) so much!! I know many people here support her but she behaves like a spoiled brat in her first life! And on her second life, she is a weak and dependent woman. How many times does her master have to save her? If she is weak, then please don’t jump in a fight and get injured! She asks him if she is his burden, yes she is! But she does nothing to better her life except depending on her master. I know he promised to protect her, but he has his responsibilities as well!

So now CZ turns bad because her master doesn’t visit her in years and she suffers because of his decisions! I get it, she is angry, I would too! But she is angry at the person, who at least tries to protect her, and not the demons, who plots to put her in this mess! Why??? I wonder why all men fall for this unreasonable woman (or maybe I’m just jealous!! 🙄)

About LYF, communication is the key! But he loves to suffer in silence, loves to bear the pain himself! Why?? Doesn’t he need to save the world? I know not taking the antidote is his way of atonement! But with that much blood he coughs up, I don’t think he can even save himself let alone the world! I still think Jeremy acts well, I don’t think anyone else could pull this role as well as he could. So for now, I just enjoy watching him flying around in his beautiful clothes, ignoring the story and giving up on the actress’s acting abilities. I don’t know why I’m obsessed with LYF’s wardrobe!

I feel the same about LYF being indecisive! All he needed to do was to tell her that he wanted her. The girl would obviously give up everything for him!
