Why do Chinese drama's always have extra hot ML and normal looking FL? Or vice versa.
I'm not going to go into whys or try to justify it , but in China there's a cultural bias against marrying beautiful women... hence the Chinese saying, Ugly wife, Happy Life. So the the "hot" men in China (who have their pick of who they want) might date a beautiful woman, but when it's time to get serious they go for normal with outstanding personality. As for the vice versa... it's probably a yin/yang thing . But believe it or not IRL lots of beautiful women all over the world have a hard time dating because many men assume that they must be "taken"; many also have a hard time making girlfriends because other girls see them as competition.

If I had to take a guess I would say that it's because of the Communist Party's version of the FCC in China all it takes is one guy to say that time travel is out and then The Story of Ming Lan doesn't follow the book and becomes a very different drama.... (Though it's still a very good drama.) The drama is more likely to make it to air if it's conventional.

Because the chemistry between the two leads was "real" even if it took a while to heat up. I thought it was refreshing that for once a childhood crush didn't mean anything to the main lead and the handsome rich guy loses out to the talented but poor artist. Is it the best drama? No, but I still like it. If you decide to try again don't rewatch just pick up from where you left off.
Mostly Es with some Bs and a C and a D... but I'm okay with that because I really do believe that unless you're true to yourself you won't find true love .❤

It's also true of people in the military. When your spouse is always away on deployment many partners feel like they are left to cope with things on their own and the person that's deployed is usually doing a high stress job where they work long hours so it when they finally have a chance to relax they often feel a bit euphoric and that's when mistakes happen.

From what I've read it's not the jealousy it's the fact that couples spend so much time away from each other, so it's more like you're in a long distance relationship.... and we all know how well those work out.
