You’re welcome! For various reasons I don’t watch much J-drama these days but I still think J-drama storytelling is amongst the best in the world. There’s a certain honesty and willingness to push boundaries mixed with sincere sentimentalism that’s impossible to replicate. J-dramas influenced my worldview and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Through friends’ influence I gradually started watching K-dramas and C-dramas. K-dramas have changed a lot in the past ten or so years. There’s greater diversity in types of stories (not 99% romance like it used to be) and the quality of writing has improved (at least if you know what to look for when picking a drama). I got used to the typical K-drama runtime which used to be a barrier to me. (Also I’ve grown up and I don’t go around posting random critical comments like this one these days...)
I haven't been following the jpop scene for that long, has it happened yet?
Been on J-Pop hiatus for a while but I just listened to Luv Sick and it’s getting there. Not as classic-dated as KAT-TUN though. (Don’t even know what was in my mind when I wrote this comment so...)
Honestly, I don't think you'd want to be on my friends list right now. I deny pretty much every friend request. I'm not currently watching Asian dramas so I post mostly unrelated stuff peculiar to me. But I might occasionally comment on your public posts in future. :)
I wasn't really expecting a conversation when I wrote the comment, it's just that responses like "I respect your opinion" confuse me. And slightly annoy me, in the way they cut off the possibility of conversation.
I've watched it. I think it's the "bad" kind of Nojima Shinji-related script. Very mawkish. But my main problem with it was Yamashita as a casting choice for that character. His range isn't wide enough for the nuance, and the pre-geniusification felt like a caricature.
I don't hate him btw. I quite like him, even if he is a bad actor. Depends on the context.
It's a depressing state of community if a contributor feels they have to introduce their article with several paragraphs about the definition of the word "opinion".
