Thanks for sharing. I didn't know such a thread existed. The new ones here all need to see this. Reba, Yang Zi and all other top tier actresses have done 2nd fl roles/supporting roles in their respective careers. I have never seen any of those fandoms say they should have replaced the main fl in those dramas. What's with the obsession/desperation to replace Reba as Changge? From the eyes of antis, Changge must really be a coveted character ( which it actually is).
Not just in cdramas, but even in famous western teen dramas, actors in their mid-twenties have played teenagers. And as the seasons progressed, they got older playing those characters, but their characters often only aged only 2-3 years max. Asian actors have the advantage of looking younger than their age.
I am aware that from the eyes of viewers, Changge doesn't look like a boy, but none of the other actresses in gender-bender asian dramas look like boys either. One must always have a suspension of disbelief while watching these shows. I am 99.9% certain that any other actress playing Changge wouldn't have looked like a real boy either.

The manhua Changge is supposed to be 15 but the drama actually doesn't specify any of their ages. So I always assume drama Changge to be a bit older. In many costume drama the MLs are around 21 and FLs are around 15-16 but they never cast 16 year olds to play these roles. Reba was 27 when she did this. Plenty of other actresses at 27-28 have played 15-16 year olds, so I don't see a problem here.

The ball game wasn't just a ball-game but it was played with actual battle strategies and she was extensively taught those things by her uncle. Many people in those eras fought battles at that age so based on history it isn't that far-fetched.

Dilraba was cast in the drama for a reason. ZLS may have done it in LLTG, but she was nowhere near as well known when this drama was being made. Also CSS is a vastly different character from Li Changge so there is no guarantee that ZLS would have actually been able carry this role. They needed an experienced actress for this who is known to be able to carry such roles with gravitas. If anything, being cast as the second FL in a Dilraba drama helped her gain more popularity.

Yeah, exactly. My family watched the drama with me and they are actually new to cdramas so they are not yet familiar with c-actors. They had no idea Dilraba was older than Wu Lei. They actually thought Wu Lei was several years older than her and were shocked to find out their real ages.
maybe I also need to drift away from Cdramas for a while because absolutely nothing is interesting to me after…
I think Forbidden love with Dylan and Yukee is starting tomorrow. Yukee is pretty but I am not fond of her acting so I'll wait and see how it turns out.

Legend of Anle, Till the end of the Moon, Rising with the wind, Windy place, Nothing but you and Immortality which may or may not air, but there are rumors floating around.
