So people are comparing this to the anime, and even the description erroneously says that this is based on the anime. However, the anime is loosely based on the book "Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis". This live-action movie, on the other hand, is based on the book "Perfect Blue: Awaken from a Dream", which is a completely different book from the same author.
Just watched all 8 episodes available on Prime. Gives me major RoOT vibes, which makes sense given that the screenwriter for this is the guy who wrote the manga on which RoOT is based. No idea where this is going, but at this point I'm 90% certain that the storyline with the 2 guys stalking Orita's apartment takes place in the past, and the young guy is the Woodpecker that kills Orita's father.
We'll probably have to wait a few months before they announce another season. It could be many things like cast…
Most scenes are shot outside, yes, but there is still a lot of CGI. You just need to look at the end credits to see the multiple VFX studios involved in this.
The whole thing with Gentosai pissed me off. Like bro was already old when you were kids, how fucking old is he…
I mean there's a certain level of suspension of disbelief you need to apply. Iroha still looks like she's mid-20s in present day, even though it's been probably at least 13-14 years since the flashbacks (going off of this being 10 years after the end of the Boshin war and Shujiro mentioning that he served the Satsuma Domain for a bit before fighting in the war.
If it gets renewed, which seems very likely, we probably won't see season 2 until the second half of 2027. It looks like season 1 was shot last year and post-production took a year. I was actually surprised to see how many VFX companies are involved in this series while watching the end credits.
Probably koreaboos downvoting popular Japanese shows.
I agree! He actually had to get scolded by Futaba to help the other kid when he didn't have enough points to pass the 3rd checkpoint! I would argue that the Ainu warrior is way more righteous than the ML!
Probably koreaboos downvoting popular Japanese shows.
It seems like there's a concentrated effort to review-bomb this show for some reason. I read on reddit that the day it was released 1,500 out of the 1,700 ratings on that day were all '6'. Even now the 6s are more than 50% https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32237534/ratings/
Makes you wonder what the third movie would be called... "Godzilla Minus Minus One"?
