the only official info that we have is that there is filing for season 2 by the production team and the synopsis for season 2 is already out. but there hasnt been official announcement of when will season 2 start filming. moreover, chenxiao is still filming his new drama "legend of the magnate" which is scheduled until july/august.

the chinese adaptation would not closely follow the original one so it would be more interesting if you just treat this as a whole new different drama. seeing the trailer, it seems like the chinese version is quite suspenseful and dark(personal opinion)

Every character in this drama is alive and really has its own humane value, like you really relate with each of their own struggles. However the male lead really took the hardest difficulty level of a messed life. Its amazing that he can grow up to be such a filial, gentle and loving man given that he has such an evil dad. Everything that he went through, he can only keep it to himself and bear through the pain alone, as he is the man that 3 women rely on and look up to (his mother, wife and daughter). Of course sometimes he is torn between them fulfilling all three of them, but I believe that he really had tried his best.
In the latest interview, Chenxiao (the actor who played Jincao) was asked what advice would Jincao give to the audience based on his life story , he answered that he doesnt think Jincao would be able to give any advice at all as Jincao himself cannot figure out his own messed up life lol. Chenxiao also said that, if one day Jincao can live happily, thats already good enough.
In the interview also, Tongyao (the actress who played Moli) jokingly said that the reason why a pampered daughter like her endured living in such as small house and double decker bed for 7 years was because of her husband's handsome face hahaha
