Youku did a Blood of Youth variety to accompany that drama, not sure why Youku decided on a lower budget for Back from the Brink. the novel is popular too. a variety would have been cute!

it's a pretty desirable project so I can see why Miles was willing to take supporting. He's been lead in smaller productions. Also his character has his own pairing so it's a good supporting role

FFB was a separate character who was dying when he met XL. In exchange for willingly letting XL absorb his power (which increases XL's power absorption even more than if he were unwilling), XL agreed to care for FFB's elderly mother. Since FFB had wandered the world a lot and XL was very filial towards the mother, nobody questioned his identity.

based on responses from cast interviews, it probably hasn't changed

unfortunately the beginning was even the best part for me for back from the brink, that drama never hooked me (actually got worse) but i did like the leads...just felt the rambling writing did them a disservice. it was surprising the author was part of the screenwriting team. i don't mind it deviating from the very good novel but the deviations didn't work for me independently

i don't think the hate is specifically from novel readers, it's just something that's been happening to many dramas and actors lately

there were complaints because the prop person bought a sword from a shop without knowing that it looked like one from an animated series so they are editing the sword out and that caused a minor delay

i'm enjoying the third lifetime better (also liked the animal lifetime). Writing has been a bit uneven but the leads are super cute together and fit their roles well.
