I think there is some validity to what you're saying about who liked the real Xiao Liu/Xiao Yao but it's easier for 17 and Xiang Liu who are more familiar than Cang Xuan with transformation magic to even know that Xiao Liu is female so they had an upperhand there and not necessarily that Cang Xuan did not like Xiao Liu. Yes I got irritated with Jing for the same reason. His greatest strength is also his weakness. He's too kind. He's not delaying for a scummy reason but for family reasons. All the male leads have their own drawbacks but ultimately in my opinion Jing is the most compatible with her in the long run, after he learns his lessons. She wants a quiet ordinary companionship for life and the other two MLs have other priorities even though they do many selfless things for her and can be considered soulmates too.

OK i need to defend him about the political marriages. Both he and she have lots of people who want them dead so he needs power to protect them both. And after one assassination attempt on her, he took revenge on the perpetrators even though he needed them for political ties. In order to maintain those political ties, he agreed to the political marriages.
