Not disagreeing with your overall opinion, but I think FL being like a negative 2FL is intentional because she's supposed to be the evil stepsister and her sister is Cinderella

I'm a book fan too so I know what you mean, though I would have enjoyed a faithful adaptation. I'm still looking forward to it because I like both the leads and hope it is a successful project for them

I've seen comments online that it has been heavily rewritten. That's what it seems like from the trailer too, looks like a comedy. Probably best to go into it as if it were an original screenplay instead of an adaptation.

in the novel, he discovered her identity in a different way than the drama. he was suspicious because of her weird behavior so he was snooping in her things for evidence. she suddenly came back and he hid whatever he had in his hand into his sleeve

The book characters are pretty different too, they were not as loving as the drama versions.

Not too long before the novel ending, Yetan stabbed SDYQ in the heart with her poisoned weapon because she had to steal something from him to save her sister and didn't trust him to help her. She also didn't think he would sacrifice the world to save herself either. She was not totally off in her suspicion because novel SDYQ is still very duty bound.

I like how much character development the drama gave them and how much more loving they are

there is a scene in the novel where YQ accidentally stole her doudou undergarment, maybe it was a reference to that

I like that they gave her character more depth like that, you're right about her good points

they are unrelated, the producer just calls it his trilogy because the three romance novels he adapted have sweets/sugar in their titles
the book title for this one translates literally to "star falling into sugar"

I feel like they saw all the complaints about those 5 sec reunion at the end style endings and said they won't do that, but instead of what people wanted, they just cut the reunion altogether

no idea why they would cut these scenes, they're cute and not controversial to me at all

but the drama is still enjoyable even though they did this... luckily those clips are available so we can piece them back in ourselves

it felt like SDYQ was a response to all the failings of the other

i hope this drama will bring him more ability to select desirable projects... this definitely shows he has range
