Changhuan's unique infection results in interesting things, he could be randomly wake up without being fed blood? When he's angry, he could temporarily turn? The story is more character/drama focused than it is about the lore, so only by reading the title screens and learning tidbits like this is how the world is shaped. I wish we could have both.
I know what Changhuan said, but I still think he's on the fence about letting He Yao do irresponsible, bad things. I'm interested in seeing what he does after this. And how He Yao thinks bringing Lin Zai to a facility will benefit Changhuan in the long term. Could he really keep Changhuan cooped up somewhere and move freely between places when he's so valuable as a researcher? How would it not be another armed guard situation?

I went back to watch the trailer after EP21 and it started with Lin Zai saying he had a dream about donating bone marrow and A'Lie's confrontation to He Yao is about Lin Zai being sedated, not about Xian at all. I think whatever happened after the donating might've been anti-climatic. They might've left out talk about it in the trailer. But I know that He Yao scene looks sus either way.

I've been holding back on saying this but the EP22 trailer scene with He Yao less dressed next to Changhuan is giving postcoital cigarette. 💀
Changhuan looks visibly less infected, too. So maybe the bone marrow went to him entirely.

That's exactly why it's bleak and horrifying, it just lets you sit inside those feelings before a payoff, if there's even going to be one. Everyone has been mad about Lin Zai, but he continues to do what he believes he has to while A'Lie and everyone else has to watch him autonomously dig himself deeper into a hole. I find it ballsy in a way. But I'm mostly basing it on some previews because I'm fiending for five days out of the week. 🤣 Might there be someone plainly dying in a few days so I don't think so hard next time.
And I think a lot of people are reluctant about hoping for another season, but we haven't seen this level of boldness from Chinese BL as a whole for a long while, plus carefulness around distribution. There hasn't been fixed couples before neither. I think a second season is way more plausible or even a second series with the same couple. I'm interested in which couple gets to do it first if some new laws around BL don't pop up before then.

He seemed to get a lot of taunting comments calling him gay because he looks pretty. I don't know how those netizens supposedly support the gay community by using stereotypes about random people's appearances. His viewers seem to bring up BL or gay content when it's completely irrelevant, call him bottom or say he should only be a top if he acts in a BL. It looks he's using pettiness to spite their constant reaction farming and immaturity. People can choose to support him or not. He's not committing crimes here, and the fans are horrible.

It really looks like A'Lie is overseeing something more than blood extraction. This thing continues to make me squeamish whether or not Lin Zai is consenting to it or not. He Yao continues to just do anything and it baffles me it gets somehow worse with A'Lie there.
I hear you about the theories, I was looking at the emojis and thinking, "this is where He Yao dies" or "this is where A'Lie gets called by HQ", then it does this other shit I didn't think of. With Lin Zai's apology and their make up scene being anti-climatic, I began to think we shouldn't expect grand solutions or reckonings because maybe it's not the point? These latest episodes just feels like a continuous slow burn that is leading up to a season 2 instead. The story is weirdly patient with itself.

Crazy projection from He Yao there. What do you make of how relaxed Changhuan is in that trailer? He was just screaming for He Yao to cut out his mad scientist act, now he's looking more contemplative and his black veins seem to be missing? Maybe A'Lie's scrutiny resulted in He Yao actually doing research instead of just funneling ridiculous amounts of blood into Changhuan.

Where did you read that? I feel like the actors themselves would've talked about it already if that was true. I want it to be true badly.

That is far too simple an episode for how heavy the plot is right now. It doesn't touch on A'Lie's duty and Lin Zai's distance from their opposing ways of life. I'm shocked Changhuan was in the same building as Lin Zai when he was getting his blood drawn all along.

I'll only be able to sleep well once I see them cuddling again.

I don't think I'm that squeamish in real life, but this episode managed to make me nauseous.

People can celebrate A'Lie knowing his worth and walking away when he's not needed, but Lin Zai's autonomy is moot because of some false idea of greater good, and someone's self-proclaimed growth. Nobody can guarantee Lin Zai will be treated like a resource to be extracted instead of a human being whose safety matters. A'Lie is strong, but is he one man vs. military organization strong?
He Yao lurked about to find Lin Zai's weaknesses, saw him in conflict with A'Lie, and used that to manipulate him underhandedly. He had to be what A'Lie couldn't and that's easy enough for him when he could appear reliable and kind to others. People want Lin Zai punished for refusing to just ignore his comfort and go with someone who makes promises without knowing the future. But Lin Zai is not responsible for what people choose to do to him, or how they want to see him. He's not even responsible for saving the world because he exists. People want a protagonist with autonomy until they make a mistake or step outside of romance logic.

He Yao is confidently arrogant provoking a man who held a knife to his throat. He's going out in chunks and pieces. Can't wait!
