Brush up life is definitely 10/10 for this year, like it's so engaging, real, full of mystery, nostalgia and somehow still manage to add fantasy and futuristic element.
On top of that, it's actually understandable.

In many Kdrama mystery show , imo they took too long to solve the
subplot and most often they keep giving hints and new mystery each episode but it can end up tiring because you don't get any answer and has no anchor as a viewer.
You need someone you can trust rather than doubting everything, this is why most detective drama usually has small cases in the very beginning, to have the one we can trust. This also happen in this drama where we know gu won can solve some problem and dohee can find out who are after her if she is given enough clue.

Procedural in my comment is like cop - buddy drama or detective drama but 2 ep/subplot and 1 overarching story.
He is like the grumpy demon who can get the job done, playful and petty,
she is the no-nonsense, get the job done but cute and endearing.
I was picturing drama like Missing: The Other Side and Mystic Pop-Up Bar where you have this couple who work really well together, not as good when separated and they also cute together.

yeah, also in the male lead perspective the confession happen too fast.
He was convinced in the first episode that she is into his secretary and she has been helping him trying to get a girl for several months.
He just learned that she likes him as a man and did not have time to process it all and then ....... the confession happen.
It also happen in the middle of her negotiating her script and he has been telling how inadequate her capabilities (at the time) for the project, which is also true.

It's really the wrong timing that makes you understand both side, how she had bottled up this feeling and wanting a conclusion, she saw his heart wavering and took the chances.
He who cannot accept it at the time because he hasn't considered it long enough and did not get enough time to see his own feeling, see her feeling and see her word as someone who loves him.
That just so well done imo.

the whole first love story tragedy was not in the webtoon, the webtoon also don't have her 17th life either. it's very different,
so the ending is rather normal, she just continue being with him, they found out the car crash and her first life, she doesn't lost her memory.
the whole story of the webtoon is how he overcome his guilt toward their first meeting on the 18th life and how he recognized her in the 19th life, how she told him her secret and how she remember her past life to overcome the things she desire to stop being reincarnated.

I don't have any subscription to watch this T.T

Regarding the mystery, I find it's good to reveals it bit by bit, Kdrama lately like to keep giving mystery and puzzle without answer and then shove all the revelation is 2 episode at the very end on which imo not effective. It's the same with his demon memory, makes him guess it on camera and at the same time as the viewer.
On the other hand, this drama can actually go procedural or in another genre with both leads retain their character and personality

I think KYJ sells the chemistry really well like I believe her feeling in every drama. Whenever I watch her, I always feel that she does fall for her co-partner and it's not ambiguous or plot related, it just she convey feeling really well.
Like right now, I know she likes him and even if the plot makes no mention of why, I believe that she loves him by her expression and mannerism. She is really good at chemistry, almost in every drama, people want her to be reunited with her co-star

As someone who has plucked their courage and confessed, subsequently get rejected for logical reason, I think the confession episode convey that feeling really really well.
Truthfully, liking someone definitely can be logical when you searched deep for the reason but at the time it happen, it's in your subconscious mind, you just like that person, they make you happy, you admire their thought and you understand their reasoning, it makes sense in your heart first then your brain.
Heartbreak is long but decision to stop liking someone can be so fast because you can see that your move doesn't get reciprocated as you wished, you unknowingly has prepared your heart and when the rejection is said, you know it's time to give up, you know it's time to close your heart.
Wow, this drama is way too personal for me to not to give it 10/10. I don't think I can be objective towards this drama cause I still remember that feeling and having it seen in the screen is too real. Idk if I ever find any drama that does this plot as well as this. The rejection makes sense in both perspective but it hurts real bad. I understand him as much as I feel for her and I've been there.

On another note, I also like that business wise, they are pretty equal, she is not really dependent on him, he also not entirely dependent on her.

I think song kang and KYJ need to star in drama where they already married and then start the show from that.

1. He has weird pronunciation, like if we compare him to KYJ/Do Hee, he doesn't enunciate all the syllable but in this character, it fits his clumsy character imo,
2. It's a pun with the generation like his first name is Jeong Il-Won with il means one for this first name and then Jeong Lee Won (Lee/ii means two), the Jeong Sa-Won (means 3). Now, he is in his 9th life, so he is Jeong Gu Won (means 9).
Therefore his next life is Jeong Sip Won (10) and this coincidentally phonetic with 10000 won, like a currency. The caveats is that he doesn't know that Won become the currency years later and he shouldn't have started with numbering his name like that so he can pick more diverse name other than Jeong (Number) Won, his name become childish sounding.

Sometimes I feel like a bad person because I do like the obsessed second lead trope but when they also give us the moment where their delusion shattered, the word like "I was never in love with you" to seal the deal makes it a sweet trope. It feels like a defeat and this is the scene that I am waiting for.

especially when the stabbing happen, it looks like serial killer drama and the way it filmed give maximum impact, you know he is badly hurt and this is life threathening.
There are several wide shots that just so pretty in the composition.

A bit out of place but I really like the cinematography of this drama,

I feel like song kang and kim yoo joong need to be reunited again, like in fluffy drama or saeguk

yeah some of their picture looks the same but I never confused them in the drama
