I've read the webtoon and I think he is fine, the drama added more scenes for him and imo it's a nice touch since in the webtoon, his introduction was quite small in the beginning. The webtoon chapter doesn't work that well for drama.

that's the exact plot of the webtoon, it's like telling people that the way you dress is also important.
In their first life, they are more concerned about work and doing the job without looking at their surrounding which makes them missed something that can help them feel more happiness.
It's basically a simple story about glow up

yeah, the male lead is nice, open minded, supportive and he just want the best for her.
He does sound a little cold sometimes but it just nice to see good people.

If we want to talk about originality, Marry My Husband original novel is the one that gets popular first, making the genre more popular and then PMR happens.
I've read both novel and the only similar things is the ex partner cheating and going back to the past, the other plot and other things handled differently.
I'd argued it has very different plot than PMR, just the same genre. PMR has supportive friend all along and the enemy within family while in MMH there is no mystery about who is the enemy, the main lead knows what she needs to do and how she can gain her life.
There is no sudden accident without knowing who is the culprit like PMR, like it's really different and idk why people can't remove Waikiki LYK in their mind. It doesn't actually related much with this drama and waikiki was 4 years ago. There is no one aiming for her life nor the mystery aspect, it's like different plot that PMR.

From what I read, it's more that your subjective reason what makes you dislike the drama and not the actual drama plot and execution.

I think it said in the 1st or 2nd episode that the company they work right now is not the same company the ML becomes top dog later

also he is supposed to look "grumpy, hard to approach, kkondae" and also "not dressed well" in the beginning of the story

in the previous timeline, soo min purposely bump into jiwon to make the food falls into jiwon and messed up her clothes because jiwon doesn't go along with soomin's wish, she also suddenly turn back to make it looks like accident to other people. In this timeline, jiwon knows soomin will do that so she moves a bit and trip soomin legs, resulted in minhwan clothes that gets ruined so jiwon changes the recipient but retain the scene. As in the drama, the scenes/fate still happen but happen to different person.

I think he is fine too, he supposed to look like that because he doesn't care about his look, just like ji won before the new timeline.

I don't get the comment either, the one that asked her to eat I think she looks great and still pretty, just less make up.
also if you read the webtoon, you can see how that's the character supposed to look like.

The execution is really well done, it managed to transfer the feeling they intended to the audience.

Again my life is different genre though, it really different from marry my husband, in the novel and webtoon wise.
What I mean is that this ML trope exist on this specific women/josei webtoon genre , the reason you think they aren't creative is because the drama keeps adapting the same webtoon genre and in marry my husband, they develop the supporting female character. If this drama is out laast year on january, you'll not feel the same so I wouldn't put the blame all in the drama story format. Again my life was not romance and more about the male lead journey to get revenge on his quest to take down the politician therefore the development you see in the drama was not originally for love interest.

There is no mystery about the mc death like in again my life or the idea to take down something bigger than life in marry my husband. MMH deal with her personal conflict which in turn sacrifice the development for male lead but this is what webtoon opt do in order to gain the weekly audience just like how again my life webtoon sacrifice the love story/interest.

It's true that ML nowadays feels like they started in the same line but it also because the webtoon adaptation setting but you still don't know if the drama would end up like that or not.

Marry my husband drama so far has added and expand their story flow more than the webtoon. The Male lead has more acted part than the webtoon panel so having seen 2 episode, your argument about how the male lead is one dimensional only work in the surface and in the webtoon side since we haven't see the whole drama. It can go like that or they can changes it just like how again my life was not really faithful to the webtoon story format and incorporate the drama style to enhance their characters. Again my life is considered cliche in his webtoon genre but it's not the same genre with Marry My Husband, even when they have the same mechanic and similar story flow.

it's so great to see the next story when you see that mother in law, wedding dress, the child debate, the affairs, the burn marks, the whole minhwan story with his job, his stock, his mother son relationship, like you know how it ends .
Minhwan is such a loser and lee yi kyung sells the character so well.
About Soo Min, omg, I didn't know my anger can be transferred right away, like the drama sells it so well that my webtoon chapter start feeding of it and I can't stand her at all.
Also her lips, her pouts, omg the casting is so well done.

The other scenes like the blood dripping, the "bald" manager, the cancer, the office set up, just love the set up and I wish for the great payback, they foreshadow everything.
I can't help but cry seeing her dad, the change that he offered to her, the wishes, it's like seeing a new start.

As a webtoon reader, the first episode imo is really good , it encapsulate the feel, this is exactly how the webtoon feels, like you feel the rage, the unfairness and her desire.
They foreshadow a lot of things and it's done tastefully, as reader who know how it will ends, it's nice to see the set up and all these characters. The wardrobe, the 2013 feeling is also there.
The freak out after returning is too much imo , the overdid the physical contact since the webtoon didn't do it right away but it's all good and I think Ji Hyuk looks fine. I think they adapted it well from 2009 to 2013, kinda sad that the flip phone is not there but they keep the glasses.

I love the cinematography and the direction, like each shot connected really well to another shot and the story telling is really well explained. The set up for each story line, even in the same episode done really well that you can just watch this without the webtoon and still understand everything you need for the pilot episode.

I get that he is devastated but the story doesn't give more to say that her life is his everything

I think it because of the webtoon adaptation, by design webtoon is one pov drawing where you need to have the main character in every chapter so it focused more on one character and other as supporting, it resulting on undeveloped supporting role.
Also isekai, revenge webtoon is heavily focus on the female character, it's the antithesis of power fantasy webtoon isekai like solo levelling where you follow the male lead.

I wish they expand it more in the drama format because drama has the ability to show more than webtoon linear panel story. In drama, you can expand the character, you have 2 hours a week while one chapter of webtoon is roughly 10 minutes read and you have to wait until the next week to get another chapter, this is how some story that tried to expand their supporting role can lose viewer if they don't show the lead in every single chapter.

then you can add the trope from josei revenge manga where the male lead is the perfect one without need development because you need to be success in the revenge. It's the whole genre on its own which is why the ML is monotonous.

PMR and MMH is a different story with the same mechanics, like Ji won actually aim to take every chance she got and there is no mystery of who is the bad guy. MMH is a very personal story while PMR is more family story.
Love both the webtoon but story wise, MMH imo is better story and more satisfying revenge than PMR

this is one of my favourite revenge webtoon, I wish it stays good till the end and I love the 16 episodes, soo min and minhwan demise is really good and I love how ji won realised stuff that was actually there for her in the 1st timeline, now she just able to see it more clearly

couldn't agree more, I think his acting here is so good, weirdly endearing and all the nonverbal clue expressed really well. I couldn't believe it's him.
