i'm sorry to edward zhang but he really has a villain persona 😭😭 like even if he plays a 'nice' character i am Skeptical™ and just waiting for the imminent betrayal lmao
that little fight between xiang yun and immortal li should have been with chu kong 😭😭 the thought of them rolling on the ground, kicking and pulling each other's hair is too funny
i do think they're doing a good job at portraying the emotions but because the built up wasn't particularly well done it's still lacking the depth that's needed for me to be fully invested so i hope that changes as the story develops
unpopular opinion i guess but the issue i had with the novel was that i just couldn't get emotionally invested in any of their lifetimes so i was actually looking forward to the changes and differences in the drama but based on the 8 episodes i'm not feeling the *vibes* idk i'll still be watching but it's a struggle right now
OVERALL THOUGHTS: i found the beginning to be more stronger than the latter half. the humour was definitely my style. i loved that it didn't take itself too seriously and it kind of gave me the feeling i had with starry love. however, i felt that the romance and chemistry could have been a lot better. of course with no fault of the actors themselves (i love them! they were great for their roles) but more of the writing. particularly how the hidden identity was dragged out for too long and i ended up being more frustrated with the characters. the plot wasn't strong and the villains were lacking and unnecessary. the side couples were cute. although i like our main couple and was swooning over certain moments, it also felt... surface level? if that makes sense? like i wanted more emotional depth but it failed to deliver. i think if the episode count was shorter then there wouldn't be the issue of being draggy but alas, i had fun! it's been awhile since i commented this much. 🥰🫶
