I hate slow burn. It *burns* my motivation to continue a romance story. Like if i want slow burn or tone down…
slow burn doesn’t take away or tone down the romance so i’m unsure what you mean. i admit they’re not always well executed and often turns out boring but a good one should have tension between the characters and where you can see their feelings develop over time. that’s what i’m referring to in the novel’s case. i don’t think it’s a crime to want the romance to develop naturally. of course it’s still early days so i’m not judging the entire drama on my initial thoughts.

It is because of 40ep rule?
i personally think they could benefit from slowing things down a bit especially in terms of the dynamic between the leads for a more *organic* progression. i still like them so far but it feels more surface level. because the drama is moving quite fast, i'm afraid of what changes they made to fill in the rest of the episodes. but given the track records for xianxias, all we can do is pray at this point.

trailer looks like a lighthearted slice of life historical drama which i'm here for!

they both have this cute puppylike visuals with their round face and big eyes 🥰🥰

pacing wise it's faster than i expected, one of the best thing about the novel was the slow burn romance (sad that the "i live so i can meet you" comment did not have much of an emotional impact) but of course i don't expect adaptations to be word for word so i won't be too harsh and make unnecessary comparisons! i guess it's better than having it drag on to death.

cgi is certainly... a creative choice but lowkey charming.

although the premise was interesting i felt romance wise, it lacked the emotional impact for me so i hope the drama will be different in that aspect 😊

the scene when he pretended his heart was hurting reminded me of owgm when he stole her id and faked a headache so she wouldn't look for it askdsdfls how cute would it be if she kissed him too
