i really love Turkish dramas, i have watched many on youtube, sometimes i wish koreans would remake some Turkish…
i watched some of it and the ending too (cause i was curious). i wouldn't say that fatmagul was romanticizing rape, like the last episode showed - i think it was trying to bring attention to that issue, how it is being handled in the society (in turkey). victims being further victimized by losing their jobs, respect in the community they live in and etc., basically victims being guilty of being attacked. while the attacker is out there free and leading a normal and carfree life.
it made me think about the issue and how it's being handled, it certainly didn't leave me with a fluffy feeling of thinking about the main couple's love. the drama (even tho it's not the gratest drama ever or anything like that) had my gratitude for showing that there's a problem in the way the rape victims and their attackers are treated, and it tried to bring awarens to that to the people to try and change it.
now i'm not saying you should go and watch it or anything, just that it is not simply romanticizing rape, because it really isn't.
and take that from a person who first asks her bf if there is "that" in a movie and how bad is it before watching it. "that" being a sexual assault.
ezel, annyone?
i loved that one! it was almost perfect to me! quality wise, imo was better than american series.
it has such a cliche story but told in such a good way. the narration in there, perfect! listening to only that, i could feel myself getting wiser, lol. with those advices from the uncle/ujak/dajdža (i don't know how you spell it on turkish), quotations from books, but only relevant and thought-inducing quotes - really, just plain amazing! i think that was my favorite part of the series, haha :P
I just caught up with this drama yesterday and today and was gonna make a comment... But after reading this wall…
so true!!
when i came to this page thinking if i should start this drama and not, i wen't to read the comments (like i always do when deciding if should start the drama or not), i was a bit shocked. it made me a bit curious, but at the same time i was afraid to start it considering how heated up the comments were, lol :P
thanks to tumblr and lots of funny gif scenes of this drama (and myungsoo), i decided to give it a try, and not regretting it now :D
so i just notice the # of episodes were lessen to 16. so which is which?! my heart skipped a bit when i saw it…
it was 16 even before it started to air. but when the series started someone changed it to 20, i don't know what they based it on. maybe there was a rumor of extending or something, i don't know.
anyway, im glad it's back to the original 16 :)
This question has been bugging me since the beginning: How does being married to Kang Ju help the mother's company…
i actually like the smaller number of episodes cause experience taught me no matter how good the drama is, most of them with 20eps get draggy towards the end. and that frustrates me :P
yeah, it really does make you confused the more you think about it. but yeah, like you said, i guess it's meant to be a plot hole, something we'll never get an explanation for either since it's not something that most of the people pay attention to :\

actually the drama was supposed to be 16 eps. one of the reasons i decided i'd watch it before it started airing. then after few weeks, don't know if someone changed it based on some news or what to 20eps. and now finally back to original 16 eps :)
as for the question sam30317 posted - been wondering about the same thing from the very beginig :\
but i guess it can be beneficial to their company simply by being married to kang joo's company - stocks and other similar economy things that i don't understand, especially in dramalanad.
and i don't think mother meant her to be married only one day. mother meant the curse to fall on doo rim, i.e. she dies, and after her yi kyung takes her place as if nothing happened, as if she was the one that married him and that way fooling everyone. and to prove that, we have conversations of yi kyung and her mother saying how yi kyung will get her revenge on kang joo and his mother and roo mi and everyone who was ever mean to her once she enters that household :)
ahhh it's getting better and better!!
preview for 18th ep looks sooooooooo promising for those two. ahh can't wait!
wait a minute, we're on the last 3 eps now, wow! already!
If Trash isn't really Na Jung's brother, why does he call her parents mom and dad? I mean, he doesn't say Ummani…
ohellogirl's answer explains kinda the thing why he hesitated to be with her, not the mother/father calling thing. that was actually explained in ep 4 by haitai when chilbong asked the same question - countryside kids call their friend's parrents omma and appa too :)
OK, seriously people, why so much hate? They both made mistakes but only AeRa is to blame? Now that it is clear…
oh finally someone with a voice of reason!
yes, both made mistakes. one huge one was that they weren't talking to each other about their hard times, about their good times, about anything! nor were they interested in each others business to actually ask the other one a simple fucking question: how was your day today? so yeah, with a relationship like that, it's bound to end up like it did.
and now, why do you people still blame exclusively her or him for the ending?
uff, you people are frustrating me, lol. i haven't seen so fired up discussion about a drama before, lol
i finally started watching this and caught up to all 6 episodes. not regereting it, can't wait for more. it's an interesting kind of divorcees, different from the er couple :D
and i read some of the previous comments - some are heavily on his side, some are heavily on her side, very few consider them both at fault.
and they are like that, both at fault. both are stubborn, both don't want to see what either of them did to the other one, both can't admit it, both can't say they're sorry, both find it hard to be thankful to one another for the good things, both placing the blame onto the other one and etc. they are both guilty of everything they accuse the other one, they are the same!! but really, really the same! and i really can't switch to either of their sides and i would actually, maybe, liked it if they each ended up with their second leads.
this is the first time that i like the second male lead better (if we don't count the heirs and kim woo bin, and i don't think it should be counted for various reasons) and i'm strongly rooting for him even tho i know that i'm going to be disappointed in the end. :\
oh for fucks sake, how much longer do i need to wait for the subs!!!
i usually am able to watch it by this time of the day..
urghhh so frustrating!! >_<
i have a question.... i mean i'm not quite sure but are they trying to build a love triangle with her brother...or…
they are half-siblings, supposedly having only the same father. but we can't rule out the possibility of him not being related to yi kyun at all either. we'll see in the future episodes i suppose.
and also, i said this bunch of times, im pretty sure doo rim and yi kyun are not twins so that means that she is not related to the brother at all and they can have feelings for each other. as for kang joo's jealousy - he's just jealous that his love interest is giving another man loving attention that she doesn't give to him, and it doesn't help the fact that they are not full siblings but half ones instead :)

repply 1997 was a delight to rewatch as well :)
