Hi! No objections on the origins of Dangerous Liaisons but the Korean drama and film are based on Laclos' book and not on the Spanish story that I haven't read. Laclos version is an epistolary novel btw. These type of novel were trending back in the day, but they are very difficult to read because you actually read two people's correspondence.

Judging by the description I wouldn't call this an original Korean story. This is the plot of Dangerous Liaisons novel by French author Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The film btw that this drama is based on never claimed that it is an original story.

Hi! I wasn't talking about this film. I was talking about his appearance when he is not filming. Make an image search to see his more recent photographs from various events, and you'll see that he is looking way older than his actual age. I think that he looks this way because he is way too thin, not for his age, but in general. This is not only visible in his face but also in his hands that look skeletal. It is not bad too be thin but not underweight.

Hi! I totally agree to what Vinod Kumad replied below. The "My name" was a fantastic show and very realistic for its genre with a very realistic FL character too.
I personally like strong FL characters, as long as those characters are realistic and have good character development arch.
The problem that newest K-dramas have, and what I want to point out, is that they don't have interesting plots, and good character development, regardless what these characters are. Good or villainous.
The villainess of this show was a caricature of a character. If the villain is so ridiculous how can you take seriously the cause and the fight of the ML's character?
That Kusanagi Jin looks like she has some problem with her ....thyroid! ha ha haaaaaaaaa
She has constant up and downs, anger management issues and she wants to eat!
Such an unrealistic and over the top character doesn't make sense as the director of a weapon dealing organization. Who would have trusted such a person in this position?
That is the reason why I said that new K-dramas suffer from plot and character problems.

Hi! I'm not talking about looking dead. They made him look very polished in a manner of speaking, for a professional killer, even when he is in action. He is coming from a fight where he has burnt down the universe and he has killed f.e 30 people and his clothes are spotless and his hair clean and though he has been beaten or shot, he is just fine. lol
Making the lead characters appearance look perfect regardless the ( on screen) situation is unrealistic. It is very old Hollywood studio system approach.

It seems btw that K-dramas have lost completely the edge and freshness that they used to have. It is unbelievably difficult to find nowadays a descent K-drama to watch.
Most of the rescent K-dramas are super expensive productions with stupid or recycled plots, stupid characters and full of cliche. When once in a while something good is released then another 100 copy it in all possible variations and versions!
Has S.Korea run out of descent writers or something?
And don't start me about the actors. I don't mind the actors who try to do the best they can with the stupid scripts they get.
First comes the plot, then the character development and then everything else because a drama or a film is all about telling a story.
Korean entertainment industry became that big because it used to tell good stories. Where are those damn good stories??

It is that they made Jinman look more like yuppie than a killer. Look up what a Yuppie is.
And then comes the scene where they arrest him,kick him, beat him, hung him from the roof, punch him in the face 20 times, but he is able to untie himself in a very acrobatic manner ( like Houdini... look up for Harry Houdini), get out, kill them all and then leave without having not even a black eye and with freshly washed hair!
How else else could I call such a type of character other than Metrosexual Houdini! lol
It is not my fault. The writers made the character this way.

I initially rated it with an 8 to end up downgraded it to a 4,5. This went from mediocre to bad. I'm not talking about the production of course ( K-dramas have great productions as always) but for the interest villain characters who went out of the way too early on and left the story with caricature villains that make the plot pointless.
We've ended up with a metrosexual Hundini Jinman that is fighting against a silly Kusanagi Jin villainess that has in the first place a hard time to walk properly on her high heels! ha ha ha.

I totally agree with you. She looks fake, pretentious and like she is always drunk. I don't think that it is a problem of over acting. This is a very good actress but I'm afraid that she has to deal with a very badly written character.

I agree with you. Talking about the men I assume that you talk about the metrosexual Houdini like ML who after being beaten countless times in his face, he is able to free himself kill everyone else, and then leave the place with not a single bruise in his face and with a shiny hairdo. ha ha ha.. It is like a hair shampoo advertising.
But how did he get at this bunker in the middle of the jungle? There is no road, there is no place for a helicopter, how did they manage to get there in the first place? No explanation. It is not needed and nothing in this show has to make any sense whatsoever!

This show is overdoing it with its pretentiousness. That Kusanagi Jin character f.e comes out so pretentious with that constant smirk in her face that looks so fake. She looks constantly like she is drunk, not to mention those ridiculous high heels that forced this poor actress to wear all the time. At episode five her character is supposed to negotiate at an industrial facility wearing 12 cm stilletos that she can hardly walk on them.
I don't understand btw the stereotype that women in position of power always wear high heels, perhaps because they can make better decisions or negotiate better when their bunions hurt like hell! lol
This show doesn't manage to do better with the ML character too. That freshly washed, freshly done salon hair is over the top. Someone has to inform the producers and stylists of this show, that the metrosexual look is not the look of professional killers.

Meanwhile Tony Leung Ka fai looks way too old for his age. I think that it would have looked healthier if he allowed himself to gain some weight. He is way too thin and he looks frail.

That's exactly what I've commented on one of his most recent films. The fact that he can still film such action scenes, ( even if he is using doubles in the most difficult ones) at this age is remarkable. He is still extremely fit and definitely on the top of the fitness levels for people of this age, I mean 70+.

The fact that Jackie Chan is able to film such action scenes at the age of 72 it is big deal by itself. Great action movie with fantastic production.

She is the embodiment of toxic weight culture.

So if she dies from any related with extremely low weight disease will know that she died for her art!
What I personally find absurd is that it is allowed to celebrities to give such interviews. No one seems to understand that female celebrities influence young girls and women pushing them actually to go after unachievable and dangerous for their health, standards. Such interviews promote Anorexia that is killing young women.

Excellent film that puts its viewers straight into the world of Kabuki theater. Excellent performances, great music, fantastic production but I have problem with the plot that is trying to blame Kokuho for something that is not exactly there.
Kokuho didn't try to become the best Kabuki actor. He WAS the best Kabuki actor without trying at all.
Shunsuke's father tried for once to surpass Kabuki's theater nepotism and Shunsuke actually knew deep in his heart that his father was right. Shunsuke wasn't that good of an actor, he wasn't equal to his father and he wasn't better than Kokuho. He admitted it and run away.
So where exactly was based the supposed rivalry between Shunsuke and Kokuho? Kokuho didn't try to take Shunsuke's place and Shunsuke wasn't even there to claim his position as heir to his father's legacy. Not up until his father death.
The daughter issue is again completely irrelevant with Kokuho's acting career. He didn't abandon his daughter in order to follow his career but he abandoned his daughter because he didn't love the geisha. He was already an established actor and Hanjiro's favorite at this point of his life. If he had married the geisha and then divorced her would that change something in his acting career? It is not that abandoning the geisha and his daughter boosted his career.
On top of that when his acting career went south, due to the illegitimate child, he didn't go back to the geisha.
Also the subplot about Shunsuke's diabetes condition doesn't make any sense. The film implies that Shunsuke wasn't able to manage his diabetes condition, and he lost his leg and he wasn't fit with the right prosthetic and he died from it in 1990's Japan?! Com' on...Give me a break! It's not this way.
My point is that the plot suggests a drama that is not there as the whole story doesn't support that much tragedy.

Most people with ED don't eat at all. I know that because I had a friend back in my school days that eventually died from it. In any case this is an awful article because it promotes ED.
Shame on this actress who is boasting on her interviews about her ED though she knows that what she's saying will influence young girls. It is the same as prompting someone to kill him/herself. It is consider as felony in some countries.

She probably thinks that she is fat. That is what people with eating disorders see in their mirror. Their otherwise skeletal self looking fat. They have no real sense of how they actually look like.
