I need to rant so yeah:-I just did not like Samantha. P.E.R.I.O.D. -Also, I felt they killed Sato (the best part…
I have the notion that you've missed the point of this drama. It is not that much about the characters but about the attitudes and the behaviors of the characters. Samantha and Sato and everyone else there, are examples of the types of people that live and operate in this underworld and their names or individual stories are irrelevant,
The Samanthas and the Polinas in this world are women that are exploited. The Satos ( or whatever other name those gang members have) are not bad or cruel but they end up being bad and cruel in order to fit and survive in this world because they have no other options ( Sato says that at some point).
The policemen end up with the one or another way being corrupted either because they are ambitious, or because they are afraid for their lives and those of their families.
But their names don't really matter and their characters even less, because there are countless people of these types that they consist this world but they wouldn't exist and behave this way outside of this world.

I don't get what Go Jae Young said to Ji Hyung Joo in the interrogation room on episode 15. He told him that there is no prosecution if the victim can't press charges. These are BS. Some crimes are prosecuted ex officio. There is no need for the victim to press charges; it can be done by the prosecutor cause he has the authority to do so.

It is impressive that Lee Shin manage to bully them so much for so long without triggering their survival instinct.

The actress btw that plays this role has destroyed her face with all these fillers and botox. Nothing moves in her face and that makes her look older than she actually is. Don't they have mirrors in their homes to see how awful all these plastic procedures make them look like? Her face looks like it is made of wax.

They will wrap it up because this drama is not about the characters but more about the attitudes and the doings…
So they are going for a second season which I find great because this is a fantastic drama. You will have the time to read the book as well that it will put you deeper in the plot and explain a lot of things that it is impossible to show on this drama.

It is not that the subplots and the characters are not important. It is that in the place of these characters and subplots could be any other characters and subplots. It is the world that the live into - the Japanese underworld with the Japanese mafia and its rules - that makes them interesting and not their personalities per se.

It is not the Polina that went missing. It is the countless Polinas that go missing. In fact Adelstein was one of the first who wrote about trafficking and women exploitation by mafia, which was a matter that was ignored from Japanese media. But he had a westerner attitude and that is the reason why wrote about it.

He was a great addition to the newspaper's personnel. Also the real Adelstein is a rather unlikable character. If he wasn't he wouldn't be able to survive in this world. Be hired in the first place by this newspaper and then have dealings with the Japanese underworld.

So they are going for a second season. I'm either way fine with that and it doesn't change my opinion about this drama.

They will wrap it up because this drama is not about the characters but more about the attitudes and the doings…
I've wrote about the characters in my review. In the book Adelstein talks about the cases that he covered. As a reporter he did have plenty of connections but those were not always personal. He knew the mafia boss but the mobster wasn't his besty. He did knew the escort girls but they were not his girlfriends. He's just mentioning people in the frame of the case and the articles that he wrote, as much as he was able to get involved as a reporter.
The book doesn't have a linear and regular story plot and it doesn't focus on specific characters.
The drama though has a plot and focuses on some characters that they picked up randomly from all those cases. And they use loosely some of the cases to put these characters into a frame. They mention f. e the mobster that was worried because the cops didn't drink his tea! because it is extreme and it shows how this world is operating. The cops didn't drink the tea which means that they cops think that the mobster is a trying to bribe them, which translates to the yakuza people that the mobster has changed side and pays the cops to cover his butt!
It shows the completely surreal way of thinking that is full of symbolic actions that they wouldn't make sense in any other world and under normal conditions. In fact Adelstein says at some point to the Yakuza mobster that he doesn't drink tea because he likes coffee! ha ha ha

But the mobster character is not particularly developed in the book. It could have been any other mafia boss in his place.

Same applies to the escort girls, the yakuza Sato guy etc. Adelstein is an observer and reporter. Is not supposed to know the characters' personal dealings and the particulars of those dealings don't really matter at the end of the day because similar cases are all over in their world.

That is the reason why I think that it doesn't really matter how they will wrap up the story because at the very end Adelstein will write just another article that will talk about the relations between mafia, escort girls, mafia and police, mafia and politicians, mafia and press, mafia and code of honor, mafia and other criminals etc. It is the behaviors that matter and not the individual characters.

Nice CMS on your website btw. I like static CMSs but I don't know how to set them up and I'm not even sure if they would work for my website that is "semi static" to say it so... lol

Ha...that is the reason why it signs me off from other websites too but after I'm signed in in the first place in these cases. This is not the case with your website that it didn't sign me in at all.
Look.... Disqus was convenient up to a point but as it seems their privacy policy is terrible. Thank you for telling me that the reason why Disqus doesn't work is because they want to install third party cookies on my browser. I don't want the third party cookies because I don't want Disqus to know what I'm watching on YT for example, and inform FB where I don't even have an account.
I want to get only the Disqus cookies as long as I'm signed in in Disqus and not sign in in the whole world wide web simultaneously.

I would suggest to change comments platform to something else.

Don't forget that the protagonist is Adelstein who is a reporter and not the other characters.
It doesn't really matter what will happen to the other characters because at the very end Adelstein will just end up writing yet another article that the Yakuza won't like it.

I don't know of course if they will decide to go for a second season though in the book there are no characters the way that they showed them in the series.

Anyway.. I admire your patience and that you bothered to waste so much time to explain this drama.
The fact is that there is no explanation at all because whatever explanation exists is in the pervert mind of its writer that thankfully we can't and we don't have the slightest urge to access it! looool

Trying to explain badly written crap dramas like this is a waste of time and mental energy.

They will wrap it up because this drama is not about the characters but more about the attitudes and the doings of the Japanese underworld. So the concept is not what the characters are doing but how the characters are operating in this world of crime, mafia, prostitution, drug dealers, killers, escorts etc.

Can someone explain to me why this actress is not cast in more roles? She is a very good actress, very beautiful and on top of that she speaks three languages, Thai, English and French. She had a main role on The Expanse series but after that... she just disappeared.

Why is so difficult for so many actors to play as naturally as Takuya Kimura does? If I like him for something is how natural he is on camera. He is coughing ( because he wants to do so) he is chewing his lips, looking up and down casually, scratching himself , straighten his clothes lol... it is such details that make acting believable.
At the scene on the first episode that he went to stitch his injured hand his reactions were so believable - in fact he reminded me my reactions when I had a similar injury- that I could easily believe that he was injured for real.
He is a fantastic actor and I don't like him because he is handsome or something. In fact he has a very average appearance. But his acting is an oasis in a desert of pretentious acting from actors that way too aware about their appearance and their acting abilities.

I suppose there are people who think/feel that way, but I much prefer other ways or forms of art...😋
I don't like tattoos if you think that this is what I meant and I don't have a single one on my body.
But these traditional Japanese full body ones are works of Fine Art. Those who make them not only design them - something that needs great illustrative skills- but they are able to "print" them on the skin, without using those tattoo machines and without being allowed to make mistakes, as there is no chance to correct them afterwards.
That one requires skill x 1000.
These tattoo makers are masters on their art and this kind of tattoos are Fine Art. That takes years to complete btw.

Check some of them to see what I'm talking about.

ansel elgort... who committed sexual assault? sucks that rapists are still accepted by the public.
How is that? Just because someone said so on Twitter?
If the woman who is accusing him that he raped her when she was 17 and he was 20 is saying the truth, then why she didn't report the rape back in 2014 when -according to what she claims- happened.? But even if she didn't sue him back then for her own reasons, then why she didn't sue him back in 2020 when she made this claim on Twitter? The statute of limitations had and has not expired yet. Don't tell me that she can't do so in US that such cases, are butter on the bread of lawyers?

I don't support rapists, in fact I think that they deserve capital punishment... but on the other hand I'm sick and tired to read post -dated allegations about rapes and sexual misconducts on social media, made by people that didn't report them back when those supposed misconducts happened, and on top of that they are all targeting exclusively famous people.

[A little joke, because I am getting really depressed writing this: If they don’t title season 2 either “Grid 2: The Passion of Kwon Saeha” or “Grid 2: Revenge of the Fallen”, they REALLY don’t know what they are doing.]
