The reason why the end is horrible is that defeats the purpose of the whole drama plot... lol

Kim Shin wanted to die for 14 episodes straight and the whole plot is all about him falling in love with the mortal woman that would pull the sword from his chest and released him from the curse that doesn't allow him to die and rest in peace etc etc etc.

And the show ends up with him becoming for one more time an immortal that is in love with the third fourth -I've lost the counting-incarnation of the same mortal woman.

Is that horrible or not?

It is not that much about their weight but about their facial features. It is not a coincidence that they all have similar faces. It seems that Japanese film producers cast the lead roles to guys that have this particular look that is probably very trendy in Japan.

But beauty standards change in time and of course they are not all the same from country to country.
So the saying that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" is quite valid in this case.
It relies on the viewers to like or dislike this particular look, and depends a lot on their own cultural background and beauty standard.

They look alike but Satoh is somewhat thinner ( in fact very thin) and that is the reason why they look somewhat different. But if Satoh gains a bit of weight they are going to look like siblings.
I'm not impressed though as I've noticed that Kimura Takuya looked like both of them when he was younger of course. He could easily play their father now!

It seems that this is one of the two three different male beauty type standards in Japan and that is the reason why most of the most famous male Japanese actors look like they are relatives. lol

If the real life S. Korean cops are as incompetent and stupid as they depicted on this series then S. Korea is the most dangerous country in the world! lol

Koreans make their dramas with the Western audience in mind. Their aim is to export their culture.
Japanese on the other hand are more straight to the point on their productions and they don't try to appeal the western audiences. Jdramas are of the kind that you either like or not. There is no middle ground.
I personally prefer the Jdramas. The main reason for liking them is that they are very "compact" . The 8-10 episodes that they usually have, are enough to have a decently developed story but not that many in order to not remember what happened to the beginning or expand with details that are irrelevant to the main plot. As for instance extensive references to the background of the one or the other minor character, constant flashbacks, non ending conversations that don't add anything to the plot, scenes that make no sense at all etc.
These kind of additions are IMHO a big part of the disadvantages of Kdramas, that in some cases can't fill the duration of their standard 16 episodes and rely on such additions instead of going for less episodes.

The main disadvantage of Jdramas is their subtitling.
It is a pity that Japanese producers don't bother to subtitle their productions themselves. They lose this way a big part of the non Japanese speaking audience.
They don't seem to understand that this audience wouldn't know Kurosawa and his movies were not subbed back in the day that happened. Kurosawa became a legend because his films were subbed. And Toshiro Mifune got an international career because Kurosawa's films were subbed.

Same applies to Japanese books if course. I recently read Nocturne of Remembrance by Shichiri Nakayama which is its one and only and single book that has been translated in English. Though I'd like to read more of his books these unfortunately are not translated in English or any other language though Nakayama is a fantastic writer and this book has already been adapted to a series that I intent to watch.

After watching the fifth episode I have the notion that the experiment was some sort of cloning with the use of somebody else's DNA . And I came to this conclusion by the Russian fiancee's saying, that they were waiting him for 1400 years to come back.
So they probably took the DNA of some ancestor who had these sixth sense/ clairvoyance abilities and made a clone or they planted it on this guy.

It is mentioned after all that only some ancient tribes had these particular abilities as an extra protection from danger and that modern humans lost them due to evolution.

That is the reason why he has the abilities but not his own memories, by neither the other person's ancestor messiah like, memories.

And that is also the reason why she didn't know his name but he doesn't know his name either.
Perhaps she was also the product of cloning too.

I think that he is the guinea pig of some sort of experiment that took place on a ship. ( the best place to hide an illegal laboratory away from any state interference ). He is someone who had the appropriate genetic background and was also given the sixth sense gene and then escaped from the laboratory with his memories lost as a side effect of the experiment.

The reason why I prefer Jdramas is that they go straight to the point. No unnecessary subplots, character backgrounds, melodrama scenes, flashbacks and such things. The only problem with Jdramas is with their subbing. But even this is not that much of a problem for me as I prefer to watch dramas that are already completed.

Probably from a brain hemorrhage ( Epidural hematoma) that damages the brain if it is not treated on time. Many people have died several hours after hitting their head and some of them were left with permanent damage. The most well known cases are those of Natasha Richardson who died several hours after a ski accident and Michael Schummaher who is still living but he is in a coma .

It's not only weak. It defames in a manner of speaking Japanese social services as I wrote on my review above.
Domestic violence is a very serious problem, and the way that is shown on this movie is at least unfortunate.
But I was glad to see that Takeru Satoh who is in my opinion one of the most underated actors on regard of his acting skills, is trying to get rid of the "pretty boy" "action hero" typecast/label that is hunting him. His recent movies show that he understands that real acting demands more than having a pretty face and doing your own stands. He is trying now to play more challenging on regard of pure acting roles. This guy needs desperately some stage plays.
I don't know what is he waiting for. Don't they have theaters in Japan?

I personally found the situation that is described on the film as impossible. The children were so brutally beaten up from their father that the hospital that provided medical help to them wouldn't have allowed them to return home and would have informed the authorities about the incident. Both their parents would have been questioned about what happened to these children.
The domestic violence incident is so exaggerated that it can't provide a believable foundation for the rest of the plot.

The entertainment industry doesn't work this way. Young actors and actresses have to work hard as long as they are young and their looks help them to get new jobs.
But Takeru Satoh seems to take every role he is given. He could be more selective because he is a good actor. As I wrote on another comment on this board, the first three Rurouni Kenshin movies were his best work because he could support among other things the action scenes. But the drama/ series that followed were at least average.
He needs a couple of very good movies carefully selected ( perhaps some international productions ) and some stage plays at this point in order to advance his acting reputation and move on from the flower boy twenty something guy type of roles.
If he doesn't do it now he will have problem later on to establish himself for his acting skills because he has already typecast himself.

His best work is on the first three Rurouni Kenshin movies. The two new ones are pure exploitation of the franchise made with a lot of scenes that where probably cut out from the original first three movies.
His dramas didn't impress me at all. Probably made to satisfy his fans.

It has nothing to do with intellectualism. It is all about a drama that its plot doesn't make sense. No sense at .all.. just a continuous back and forth in a story line that ends up looking like a continuity error because the writers obviously were unable to recall what they had already wrote.
All that expensive production went in vain because the story was completely incomprehensible.
Someone has to explain to those writers and those producers that invest their money that more ( complicating things for the sake of doing so) is not always better.

Excellent production, cast, acting, cinematography and direction for a drama that it's plot is so bad and had so many plot holes that make it almost unwatchable.
I don't see the point of spending that much money when the story plot doesn't make sense. I ended up watching and embellished and perfectly executed nonsense.

I watched Sisyphus up to its end just for the sake of his acting and not for the plot that was the worst ever. He is a great actor and he should get more lead roles.

Thank you for the information. I was wondering what is that city that has so many cars and so many buildings but no people walking in the streets and I assumed that this drama was filmed at small city or a set made for the drama. It seems that this is not the case as Dalian is a large and populous city.
But where did its people go??! lol

I'm stuck on episode 35 for a whole month and I can't finish this drama. lol It is soooo boring... the only reason I want to finish it is that I made it to episode 35 but honestly now I really don't care how is going to end as the characters and the plot are so indifferent.
