I am beginning to lose interest in this drama. The guy who plays Zhang He is better at playing a scholar/ minister/…
honestly Zhang Zhe is such a bland character. On Chinese forums, they were hyping this character so much before he had any scenes because he's a "白月光" type of role (idk how to translate into English, but it's akin to an idealized figure in a person's life) but so far, he's just been very frustrating. don't get me wrong, I don't root for any of the male characters as romantic interests because imo Yanlin & Xiewei are both red flags (YL more so in the prior life) but at least they aren't boring like Zhang Zhe. for me, being boring is the worst crime for a fictional character.
actually now that I think about it, ChangHeng in LBFAD was also a similar type of 白月光 character (played by ZLH interestingly enough lol) but at least in that drama, they gave him a growth arc that made you root for him as a person.
there's rumors that IQIYI is going to air A Journey to Love on the 23rd. That's a big budget historical drama that will take most of the ad placement on IQIYI's front page. The leads are scheduled to start promo so the rumor does seem realistic. I wonder if that's why SOKP's schedule was adjusted? I have a feeling they will update 2 episodes per day until the 20th and then drop the last 10 episodes at once on the 21st.
I still have hope! I almost lost hope for Kunning Palace, but here it is dropping out of nowhere.
the problem is there's already been precedence set with previous dramas. if they air this one, then the shelved dramas of Fan Bingbing, Deng Lun, Yuan Bingyan etc will need to air too.
watching this made me remember why I rarely watch chinese modern romcoms. they are just way too damn long. kdramas & jdramas can finish a plot within 20 episodes. there's no reason why cdramas need to be almost 40 episodes. there's not enough plot and they end up dragging ridiculously.
I think the schedule only goes up to episode 24? I wonder if they'll drop the remaining episodes all at once like they have been doing for other iqiyi dramas
I'm so in love with Zhang ling he voice's here , so deep manly and hot , is this his real voice ? Because in my…
his voice in MJTY is closer to his voice irl (based on interviews I watched). I think he made his voice deeper in this drama because his character is a teacher & older than the others.
One thing I have to say here, is that despite me liking Zhang Zhe more as a character here, this drama has still…
MJTY character was too .. bland/innocent. I don't think that kind of character works for someone with his physique (190cm+). Needs someone youthful to play that kind of character to not be annoying.
imo sometimes he verges too much on villain-y side in this role lol I think Zhang Zhe is too wooden and Xie Wei is sometimes too cartoony villain. I think Yan Lin is so far the best acted of the male leads so far but his character doesn't have enough scenes.
does anyone else find Zhang Zhe kind of.. flat? I feel like the actor always has a poker face and his voice doesn't have much emotions either. is he like that in the novel too?
the video showed her arriving the night before and leaving the morning after in the same outfit lol I know a "sleepover" when I see it. imo it's not a big deal. a lot of actors end up being too deep in their roles and fall in love while filming but then break up shortly after because their schedules are too busy.

yan lin = 20 years old
ning = 18 years old
