This drama is EPIC. Everyone is a lying treacherous bastard with multiple identities and shifting loyalties. It needs way. more viewers. All the characters are so smart and fast on their feet..like forget plans A and B and C - this lot has plans from A to Z. Everyone is jockeying to outsmart everyone else like 10 steps ahead in each direction. The actors are really good plus a kick-ass script this is going on my top 10 c-drama list -- including Reset and Reborn and Under the Skin -- unless they really go off piste and tank it in the last set of eps. Well done, C-Drama land, this year you've finally figured out how to make exciting thriller/crime dramas....many of them significantly better than their Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V contemporary rom-com and historical siblings.
Ok, now I'm going to be totally heroic and not watch this until the last ep airs. I don't think my nerves can take much more!! :D

It would be cool if the subs kept pace with the drama release. I'm actually enjoying this drama so far but I kind of feel that it's going to do the thing c-dramas do where they just veer into heavy melo territory then crash rather than keeping the momentum going by juggling different moods and stories. Ah well.

Agreed @IreneKhongsai: I find it odd how men are, typically, given so much leeway in dramas to behave badly or to not be emotionally available or to just have a bad day whereas women are supposed to bear with it in the name of love and make all sorts of accommodations and allowances. I can sympathise how his first reaction is to shutdown emotionally, withdraw to lick his wounds. I can also sympathise with her hurt and frustration that he doesn't seem to trust her. Glad they didn't stretch it out too much! The moment where she kicks him after trying everything else reminded me of something a homeroom teacher/guidance counsellor used to say: if you did something stupid or really egregious, she's sit you down in her office and say, "say pop," you'd say "pop." Then she said, "that's the sound of me pulling your head out of your ass. Now put it behind you. Don't repeat stupid behaviour. Do better next time." Then you were dismissed! Hahahahaha

She, literally, kicked some sense into him. Ahahahahah. I think that was the best moment of this entire frustrating poor-communication motif!

@PearlHarbor the TV version is cut/edited weirdly to fit the tv airtime slot. Typically the tv run time is 35 odd minutes while the DVD run time is a full 45 minutes including opening and closing credits + the little theatre scenes.

Yes, that's my take too @yenki. He's struggling. She can see that. But he won't talk to her or let her help or even ask her for some time and patience. I get that he's reeling from shock, loss and dismay but his knee jerk reactions are his own. She's not a mind reader. This motif of lack of communication between them, even if it's short lived, keep recurring in the drama. In my opinion it does a disservice to the source material.

I think it's a hyper exaggerated difference typical to c-drama romcoms with this kind of science v art set up. I put it down to poor storytelling and relying heavily on outdated tropes to do the heavy lifting instead of the writer and the actors. Didn't much enjoy this aspect in the first ep but luckily it gets resolved very quickly (next ep or so) and everyone starts acting like adults. By which I mean, they start communicating. And if this drama stays true to the original story (I've read the translation), and admittedly they have taken liberties with the adaptation, then this FL and ML do not suffer from poor communication. A remarkably, for the genre, steady. communication friendly and equal relationship.

Yeah, same @XXI and @junebug. The convo between Heedo's mum and kidlet left a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like I may have missed what the writer was trying to do there. But all I got from it is her being painted as the "unreasonable" one. Again. Like, Heedo was a child. And definitely not a telepath. Having a conflicted relationship with a parent is understandable but the key point there is 'parent.' A relationship between, ostensibly, an adult aka Heedo's mum and a child aka Heedo. But it's like watching two teenagers talk at each other full of recriminations and grievances. Except that one has the power to really hurt you and can influence your life in ways that is fundamentally unequal. Furthermore, I, at least, interpreted part of Heedo's kidlet's unwillingness to continue with ballet as her self-imposed comparison with her mom, the gold medalist. Again, she's a child and it must be challenging to have a mum who's so well known etc. Yet this same mother shows up at all your events, is unflinchingly supportive, is almost embarrassed by her renown especially when the moment is about you, and gives great advice. I completely understand feeling that you're not good enough, and being unconsciously resentful of the fact that your mum is a champion celebrity but to complain to a grandmother, who was an absent parent at best and an aggressively critical one at worst, who overshadowed everything your mum did by virtue of her celebrity -- all of which you know after reading your mum's diary -- yeah, I don't know what I missed in that conversation. It just pissed me off. I wanted to snap at the kid. And I wanted to snap at grandmother.

I'm a fan of the meta commentary that was front and centre in ep 2...definitely picked up the comedy aspect of the rom-com. It's been entertaining
