True. But Gu Xiao should follow his own advice. Stop declining calls on someone else's phone; and sending rude text messages from someone else's phone - without their permission.
I do wonder why Chinese fluffy dramas love to make their FL (often from the wonderful arts background) into such…
I think it's a hyper exaggerated difference typical to c-drama romcoms with this kind of science v art set up. I put it down to poor storytelling and relying heavily on outdated tropes to do the heavy lifting instead of the writer and the actors. Didn't much enjoy this aspect in the first ep but luckily it gets resolved very quickly (next ep or so) and everyone starts acting like adults. By which I mean, they start communicating. And if this drama stays true to the original story (I've read the translation), and admittedly they have taken liberties with the adaptation, then this FL and ML do not suffer from poor communication. A remarkably, for the genre, steady. communication friendly and equal relationship.
I think I understand why Yu Rim didn't apologize now that I'm seeing what they're trying to do (at least what…
Yeah, same @XXI and @junebug. The convo between Heedo's mum and kidlet left a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like I may have missed what the writer was trying to do there. But all I got from it is her being painted as the "unreasonable" one. Again. Like, Heedo was a child. And definitely not a telepath. Having a conflicted relationship with a parent is understandable but the key point there is 'parent.' A relationship between, ostensibly, an adult aka Heedo's mum and a child aka Heedo. But it's like watching two teenagers talk at each other full of recriminations and grievances. Except that one has the power to really hurt you and can influence your life in ways that is fundamentally unequal. Furthermore, I, at least, interpreted part of Heedo's kidlet's unwillingness to continue with ballet as her self-imposed comparison with her mom, the gold medalist. Again, she's a child and it must be challenging to have a mum who's so well known etc. Yet this same mother shows up at all your events, is unflinchingly supportive, is almost embarrassed by her renown especially when the moment is about you, and gives great advice. I completely understand feeling that you're not good enough, and being unconsciously resentful of the fact that your mum is a champion celebrity but to complain to a grandmother, who was an absent parent at best and an aggressively critical one at worst, who overshadowed everything your mum did by virtue of her celebrity -- all of which you know after reading your mum's diary -- yeah, I don't know what I missed in that conversation. It just pissed me off. I wanted to snap at the kid. And I wanted to snap at grandmother.
I just hope they don't throw them together the last scene of the last ep uugghhh that'll be the worst!
Agreed. That would be the worst. But I'm afraid we're running out of space for happy days...which is such a huge disservice to our leads whose tragic, gripping and passionate love story is the primary hook. Fingers crossed, eh?
I know right, like amnesia really? So left field!!!!
Hahahhaha...it's just mad. And then there's his DB dad saying no, there's been nothing traumatic. I mean...that's come serious script blindness there especially since to date he comes across as morally ambivalent, clever and manipulative but that comment was dumb.
The drama that I've really been enjoying -- thank you mature actors, solid editing and directing -- suddenly became a whole other kind of drama! Why? Why do Chinese dramas do this to me? Like I can count on the fingers of one hand, modern/contemporary dramas that have retained their internal coherence and narrative integrity until the end. Sigh.
But I'm not giving up. I mean, this drama actually got me to sign up for Youku membership because I couldn't wait for the subs so you know...Let's hang on for a bit longer. I am not entirely certain how they will wrap things up in the next 8 eps especially when so much (wow! so so much!) is still a tangle of plot lines: 1. Her father and the ML's dad involvement 2. Resolving FL and ML's dad's antagonism and resentment 3. SML and ML's dad backstory beyond the obvious 4. SFL left out in the dark 5. FL and ML building trust and a relationship to get to HEA 6. Integrating cutie PingPing into happy families 7. Out of the left-field bribery charges 8. The bakery incident and it's instigators 9. ML's mysterious phone call pre wreck 10. ML's dad getting some form of karmic justice -- I know, I know, it's a Chinese drama and censorship and parents are the end-all and be-all of everything but for ff's sake. 11. FL's job situation 12. Stinker ex who's still a loyal ally despite shenanigans
There's probably more that I'm missing out on....but man! That is a shit ton of stuff to get through unless they completely reject the original pacing of the drama and, like I said, change into something else. Let's hope the PD team is cleverer than that. #fingerscrossed #pleasedon'truinthisforme
Can’t wait! Watching their presscon interview while I wait and just caught the question for Seyoung’s most…
Now they are making plans about how to watch the last ep! With their cats!! Ahahahahahhaha. Like eighty year old ladies. OMG. I can't...says she, wheezing
