Aah, the final growth arc for mom and Chenghuan did not disappoint. Painful honest conversations lead to painful realizations. But like lancing a festering boil leading to healing. (At least in drama land). Beautifully acted scene. Zhiming's character development has been sophisticated and nuanced, thawing incrementally. You don't realise how much has has changed until you look back and see his emotional trajectory. Well written, and understated acting by Xu Kai. It's a pity they focused on that to the exclusion of the business aspect of the story. Still, can't have everything. Shrill, shoe-horned 3FL has also finally been fleshed out too. While the entry was jarring, I can see her purpose. It still feels a little obvious and obtrusive but again an improvement on her first entrance. Let's see what the next set of eps bring. I hope the business rivalry and M&A story doesn't have a pat ending. It would be disappointed after all the time and effort the director and scriptwriter spent fleshing it out. Onward!
Of course the scriptwriters couldn't live without shoehorning iq dropping shrill, clingy wannabe 2 or is it 3…
Although I do like the line from the trailer of the next eps saying something along the lines that it's no longer cool or fit for the current century to morally kidnap children. Kudos on that boom!
Of course the scriptwriters couldn't live without shoehorning iq dropping shrill, clingy wannabe 2 or is it 3 fl? Ugh. Why? I can feel my face getting into that expression of wtf even? whenever she comes on or her shoehorned craptastic narrative with paperthin motivatations shoves itself on the screen. #rictusofpain I can feel mom's final growth arc coming along through the pushy relatives (been there seen that...show of hands folks!) and of course the final terribly painful realization that her life cannot revolve (invasively so!) around that of her grown children because that way....well that way lie emotionally devastating discussions that leave everyone shattered.
Awww, our leads are maturely sweet. Enjoyable slowburn (quite literally). Chenghuan's teeth clenched voice of death instruction to her brother was so familiar! Hahahahah....been there done that. Nicely done, drama. Don't let me down as you enter the last third.
Oh my, this drama........ actually turned out to be good. I assume the ratings must be low cause it's a Cdrama.…
ikr? For a contemporary c-drama, which usually has a lot of filler and crap and is propelled by starpower (#zealousfandoms) this is such a pleasant change. Cleverly done with adult issues and relationships and a smattering of sweetness. I'm enjoying how no one is given a free pass on bad behaviour and poor decisions.
This is some seriously high-octane, machiavellian, cut throat corporate intrigue shizz. #mindblown. I didn't think writer-nim could beat Strangers or Forest of Secrets but damn. She done it. 🔥💣🔥💣🔥
Script-writers need to work harder on mom's redemption/forgiveness arc. Still a bit to shrill and nervy for me. Enjoyable slowburn bwn FL and ML. Nice to see two intellegent, competent, attractive people communicating as equals. It's hard to find in c-dramas except for the Elvira (?) and Elvis contemp drama (similar adult relationships, business setting, difficult choices) that was divine! Best of it's kind so far from c-drama land.
Oh, my lovely little drama! How are you so full of heart, cheer, joyousness and loss and love? So many emotions so deftly handled. Clever storytelling. Evocative art direction. Soulful OST. And the leads....oh, these two break and mend and break my heart in the best of ways. I can't wait for where we go next.
Ooh, really interesting. :) This has all the sparkle, lived in, layered detailed world-building, and heartfelt moments that go from tragic to swoonworthy. I love it. The two leads are wonderful. Playing off each other beautifully. The end of ep 3 is clever! Can't wait to see where the drama goes from here.
Much much better than a lot of high budget, high profile craptastic dramas I've sampled this year. The plot and acting were solid. I'm a fan of the actor playing the ML: a man of expression and action. The FL wasn't a cringing damsel in distress. The CP was solid. Well done, mini drama. You've successfully and effortlessly shown up a lot of crap idol dramas.
Nan, btw, is BAMF. She's a very genteel, velvet clad iron fist in full possession of her faculties and incisiveness. 😍😍 I love how she doesn't waste her time on Cheng Huan's parents. Her priority is the granddaughter.
i think part of the reason why i continue to watch this show is because i see myself in huan. she feels pressure…
Nicely said. I agree. It's a love that suffocates and drives you with guilt. And you don't know, or can't even imagine anything different, so breaking out or away doesn't even seem enter the realm of the imagination. It's pretty awful to watch; even moreso when you've tasted what she's experiencing. I give the writers full marks for not succumbing to overblown histrionics. Suffocating as that family is they are redeemed by good intentions, good will, warmth and love. But it's a seesaw that swings too much in one direction or the other.
Wow. Mum's special (understandable sentiments to some degree) but still whoah. Dad is also more of the same. A clash of personalities there with the stronger one overpowering the weaker one. The FL needs to discover her firmness. She's on her way. But it takes a lot of courage, doesn't come easily or naturally. There will be moments of backsliding. I wish they would leave the noona romance out of it. Let the boy be a brother figure and show healthy platonic friendships. But nope -- writers gotta shoehorn in that bit too. Sigh. All in all, a nice contemporary drama focusing on personal development and self-discovery. I like the pacing, the acting, everyone using their own voices (I think?) and the setting.
I like it. They are adorable together. And it's got all the sparkle, sizzle, charm and hijinks of the best kind of k-recomcroms. Oh, glorious K-drama romcoms -- I have missed you. A clever and self aware script too. I think, this means, I should finally get on with watching True Beauty since it's the same script-writer. Please stay this fun?! Please. I hope the k-drama gods are listening.
It's slowgoing for me. I'd like either the mystery to progress, or the romance to progress, or other complications to arise...so far it's all more of the same. ZJY doing well. I like her vocal register a lot. HYT now emotes. LYX rapidly becoming an actor I'm going to watch out for. Her range, choice of roles, acting is all really promising.
