Ah mini web drama! You are on fire. Talking about packing a crap ton of story, reasonably good acting and ok production values in an uber mini package....always surprised me how good or at least entertaining some of them are. Long ass 40 ep productions could really learn from them about how to leave filler crap in the editing bin.
Ridiculous fluff, funny, good chemistry, acting is alright too and the verbal sparring is fun -- mental popcorn with a side of rainbow sparkles. I'm here for it.
Not bad. A slice of life domestic drama a little bit like New Life Begins for me. Although, that one, I felt had slightly better production qualities and more charismatic leads, ensemble cast. But hopefully as the story progresses this will improve too. ZJY has surprisingly good line delivery for an old-timey drama. As someone said in the comments, HYT is so stilted. Which is odd because I really enjoyed his performance in My Roommate is a Detective. Maybe because of the genre? Would be nice if he could express and emote a little more. Perhaps the hair is holding him back? π The fights are pretty good. First time, I've seen an ML fight like a brawler! He really hammers in those punches.
Zheng He Hui Zi should have stayed the FL(Yang Cai Wei)... Ju Jing Yi does the same character (looks, mannerism…
Ikr? It says something about how poor the actor playing the FL is when a guest actor who dies off in the first 2 eps is a better option. And now, even if I say to each their own, and if you enjoy her then good-on you -- die-hard fans will be completely unable to resist launching a rampaging defence (because live and let live, and feel free to ignore opinons you don't agree are alien concepts!) and waving pitchforks and torches. Ready the BBQ! π
Ju Jing Yis quite possibly the worst c-drama actor I've watched. Truly execrable. A marrionnette on strings would have better emotive range. Poor LXY to have suffer through this when his own acting is solid, with a well written old timey c-drama lead. This could have been added to his roster of successes but alas dropped like a rancid potato.
Sooo much miscommunication. Poor things. Bloody scriptwriters have really written her as insufferably dimwitted. Paired with her anime expressions it just makes me want to close my eyes and look away. A waste of a good character. A drama that was initially good fun with chemistry, and some fun moments is rapidly becoming tedious. #cries
Feel bad for FL -- the writers have made her into a spineless twit. This whole parental situation leaves quite a bad taste and she comes out looking very poorly. ML, on the other hand, also written into a reactive blindspot. Sigh. Was hoping this drama would stay my temp candy space but no dice. Fingers crossed this scenario, which is aimed at laughs but is only uncomfortable is done soon.
on my hands and knees begging for legal sites to catch up with the subs it's actually torture at this point
Lol, yeah! Some of the MTL is hilarious while the others are like....wot? A surprisingly good drama, at least compared to the usual crap run of the mill contemporary romcoms c-dramaland churns out relentlessly. Acting is pretty ok, facial expressions are pretty funny, and the actors complement each other. I won't waste my braincells on story since it's mental candy floss anyway.
Update: I swear this the first time I've seen subs that would give MangoTV a run for its money. πππ
Wow, this drama is such a toxic dumpsite. Give me Perfect Marriage Revenge over this any day. Peace out peeps. Also, don't come at me please, I wish PMY would eat something or get healthier. Her frame is skeletal.
Why is it a replica of perfect marriage revenge. I literally loved PMR. I hope I can love this too. 2 eps were…
Perfect Marriage Revenge was an insanely crazy ride and I loved it! They packed so much story into 12 eps. That ASMR of the dress rip is going to live in my dreams! LOL I don't expect much from this one though :(. PMY tends to play the same role over and over with fading results. Ah well. Let's see.
Cool, complicated, nuanced and mature anthology on love. Not easy watching but interesting! I like what they tried to. Better yet, they were successful at it too. A very pleasant change from the truckloads of candy coated crap that's produced by dreamland. 2023, in particular, has been craptastic.
Ooh, thanks! Zhou Yu Tong (I love her!) and Tian Xi Wei...+ a Linmon production is a recipe for awesomeness! Complicated, conflicted characters who have human (i.e. poor, limited) decision making skills? Sign me up, please.
Firstly, whoah. I had an inkling how things would go but this was next level. Full marks to the scriptwriter for keeping the characters true to themselves and for showing us that this was always going to be a high risk game with no confirmed happy living after.
I ugly cried buckets.
But the drama and the script, the acting and the score all made it worth my while. No cheap HEA played for the crowds. No, victory came at a bitter bitter cost: the cost was almost everything.
Secondly, I can't believe I called it with my prediction re Princess YY and Duke LTT. Wow. That was a bit of precognition. Brilliant to see the the two proteges survived at incredible cost, and now more than ever will take up the mantle to lead.
RY is hands down the most epic lead. Ever. Heroic. Charismatic, Lethal. Strategic, Aggressive. Virtually invincible. What an epic badass!
NY was her equal in most ways. and I adored how he recognised the places where she was more capable than him. A lovely adult relationship with communication, and moments of humour and flirtation, and quiet intimacy.
Aaah, my musketeers from Liudao Hall -- you were the absolute best from start to end. A fantastic ensemble cast without a single weak link.
You broke my heart Journey to Love. I don't hate you for it because you told me you would. π’π
