yes i think he’s got potential to get better as an actor and i definitely noticed his spark in this drama. after all he is still young and inexperienced and has time to improve given the opportunity. i agree, it doesn’t hurt that he’s good-looking haha

i agree that he was a bit too expressionless a lot of the time, although his character is someone who constantly hides his emotions, indeed it felt a bit off. but when he showed his true colors at the end i was quite convinced. and in spite of his young age he also nailed the presence of a prince throughout the drama.

can we talk about how good chen heyi’s acting is towards the end, especially when he gets his revenge in eps 37-38? he may have been a bit stiff at times during the drama but i really loved his psychotic expressions while he killed his half-brother and stepmother, along with the ironic delivery of his lines. but also the change in his face when he saw fu yixao, happy but still insane. it felt almost cathartic when he executed his plan, although he also deserved what happened to him in the end.

yes he did! he’s the only main cast member who got to dub himself and he did a great job

if it allows them to look cooler AND not to suffocate in the summer heat during the shooting it’s a win win in my book

many aspects of this drama really reminded me of shounen mangas, and that’s one of them

i’m so disappointed with xueyu’s ending. her story was one of resilience and she overcame so many terrible things, only to end up being subjected to a second forced marriage and a violent death. it was disheartening to see a main female character go through all that and end up like this. some other characters’ deaths made more sense but i expected her character to make it 🙁
