They can do a commitment ceremony like gay couples had to do in the US until equal marriage was recognized by the Supreme Court. I’d be surprised if Japan passes the bill, because I think their Supreme Court found it was constitutional to not allow them to marry. You’re definitely right about Korea and China. Thailand I’m not so sure about, because although they profit hugely from the BL industry, they still don’t recognize their rights.

It’s still insensitive to what she’s going through. It’s more like the writers wanted to get their story going again. It would have been better if he offered her support so she could turn to him for comfort and then approach her about it after the mom died IMO.
