I suspect she means Butterflied Lovers which has an open ending. The main couple starts out married. It is very sweet and bitter and sad at times. Butterfly Lovers is about really really star crossed lovers. Haven't seen the 2017 or earlier version.

I think it may be because of some disappointing plot lines. All of his friends died too early, I feel. That affected me. And the annoying second lead stayed around too long like a cockroach. And the FL's father got a nervous breakdown, but really should have been mentally prepared for the consequence of challenging the Emperor. Some other way to get the FL to resent the ML. I also think that they over did the constant break ups between the main couple. Miss Gu should have had second thoughts about her Father's ambition and should have nursed Pei back to health when he got wounded. She never had a chance with the ML so it was hard to take her threat seriously. Pei and her might have made a nice couple. I liked this drama at the beginning, but skipped parts near the end. Possibly I was not alone feeling like this, which may be why the rating isn't a 9. Not looking for an argument, but am thinking why it was an 8.5. Thank you.
