Right after throwing the General and Du in prison, the Empress told her confidant/maid that it was a test and if he had really divorced his wife, that would mean that he failed in her eyes. At the same time she also said that her daughter, the Princess, was going through a phase that she needed to out grow. The General has passed the ability and loyalty to spouse tests. The General is really the best candidate to be the Princess' consort and future guide as she becomes Empress. Pingwei and the Princess have shown no sign that they will step up to meet the challenge. That's a fault of the writers wanting to have them be a 'cute' couple.

Not suffer but they shouldn't depend solely on love.

I wonder why the wife left. I guess the end game is they will get back together and get a second daughter.

Ep. 23. The Empress says she's testing love, but she really should be testing smarts. The Princess is played as immature and a bit naive. Bad choice from the start. She should have been portrayed as strong willed but clever. That way she and Pingwei could have a mutually supporting marriage. or she will be clever to come up with ideas that Pingwei can execute. She should be coming up with ideas or a plan, because the future Empress must be this to take care of the country. But then that would cut more time from the General and Ms Du. Now it seems that the Empress will be moved because her first love died before he could meet her.

Re-watched it again today. Still kicks ass.

Reset is also the growth of Li Shiqing, the female lead. She is the moral compass of the story and her doubts eventually lead the pair to save everyone on the bus. She gets them to investigate the bus driver's past which leads to understanding the bomber. That is also why the ML gets weaker and weaker and can't wake up in the final loop. She has to do it all by herself.

Ke will have to be hoisted by his own petard. Grandma won't do it and she shouldn't have to. No sense in the good guys getting their hands tainted, too. 4 more episodes. Ke will become increasingly desperate. Around ep. 23 or 24, I think that the maid will feel betrayed and do him in. Would be nice for the fat guy to lie in the bed, though.

The FL here should be more astute as she is a martial arts expert. Too trusting or doesn't think things through.

Have you watched Egg and Stone? The FL isn't as clueless as she seems in the first few episodes. The CP have a supportive relationship. The ML and his brother have a funny. After the end, there are some sweet scenes that show a HE for the second couple.

SML is more controlling than supporting. He will be the same with his sister. Friendzoned.

Bittersweet but satisfying ending. Couldn't end any other way. Watch with confidence.

Ep. 16, the CP made up and FL decides to move on, but the ML hasn't gotten over her. Torture as the FL will later be romanced by her boss. ep.20 RAW.
